Holiday village La Boverie

My chalet is located in the attractive, quiet holiday village of 'La Boverie' in Rendeux (7 km from La Roche en Ardenne). The holiday village is built on the slopes of the Ourthe and immediately gives you a wide view of the valley. In fine weather, you can sunbathe and swim on the landscaped sunbathing lawn on the banks of the river.
The park also has two café/restaurants (one at the entrance 'Club La Boverie' where the reception is also located, and one at the very top of the park 'Le Magni'). You can eat or drink on the terrace or inside. There is a playground for children. At the Club you will also find a mini-golf course and a laundry room.

The chalet

The cottage is located on the edge of the park near a spacious car park. You come across it virtually first from the entrance. It is surrounded by fruit trees and hawthorn hedges and is located near a children's playground. A little further away is a playground, an outdoor gym and a basketball court.

Layout and facilities

The wooden bungalow (66 m2) sleeps 4 to 6 people. Inside, everything is finished in wood, which immediately creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. The spacious living room with dining and sitting area, the kitchen with possibility to prepare your own meals, the two bedrooms with double bed and bunk bed (ideal for children), the bathroom with bath/shower, washbasin and toilet and the terrace with garden furniture and parasol, provide you with all the comfort you need. If there are 6 of you, you can easily convert the sofa in the sitting area into a double bed. The cottage is heated with electric convectors.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a microwave, an electric cooker with oven, a (traditional) coffee maker, a kettle, a kitchen scale and a toaster.
Duvets and pillows are provided in the bedrooms.
PLEASE NOTE: Fitted sheets (double beds 140 x 200 cm and single beds 80 x 200 m), pillowcases and duvet covers (double beds 240 x 220 and single beds 150 x 200) and bath and kitchen towels are to be brought by yourself. They are NOT provided in the chalet. Since June 2021, there are also NEW MATRASSES.
In the sitting area you will find a TV, DVD player, board games and (Dutch-language) books. There is also wifi. In the cupboard you will also find plenty of brochures with information on places of interest and walks in the region.

Additional information on costs

Upon arrival you pay 100 euro in cash.
At the end of your stay, the costs for electricity will be deducted from this 100 euro at reception.
For electricity, you pay 0.40 euro per Kwh day rate and 0.35 euro per Kwh night rate. There is no flat-rate charge in the rental price, so you have complete control over consumption.

For sports enthusiasts, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. At the foot of the holiday village you will find Wildtrails. They offer you the opportunity to take part in an adventure programme and to kayak. Several signposted walks (between 5 and 26 km) leave from the holiday village. A brochure can be obtained at reception. There are also mountain bike routes departing from the park. There is also a swimming pool in nearby La Roche.
In the surrounding area you will find numerous, famous Ardennes towns such as La Roche en-Ardenne (7 km away), Hotton (12 km away), Durbuy (23 km away) and Houffalize (40 km away). You see, lots of fun things that will make your stay unforgettable.

Located in the heart of the real Ardennes in Fraiture and only 50 km south of Liège, this chalet is based halfway between La Roche-en-Ardenne at 15 km and Vielsalm at 15 km. It offers a sauna for rejuvenation and a terrace and garden where you can cook smoked chicken on the woodstove and the charcoal barbeque. Gather your ski equipment from the ski storage and go skiing on the Belgian slopes close by. Notably, you have parking for 3 cars in a paved parking lot; and possibly extra parking at the rear of the house.

- "Very clean and cozy house! Beds are nice and soft, surroundings are great as well, very peaceful. Wifi also works amazingly and the owner of the property is very friendly and easy to reach. Only thing was that there were quite a lot of (electronic) perfume dispensers which were a bit strong for one of our party as they have weak lungs. Though this was easily solved by taking those out and the intention of the owner to make the place smell clean and fresh was well received. Overall, we are currently enjoying our stay a lot!"

Our gem consists of a bedroom with a single bed and a mattress for the 2nd person. An open entrance. A dining room with the table for 4 people. Large living room separated in 2 parts but open. In the 2nd part of the living room: a comfortable bed for 2 people (160 cm by 200 cm) A semi-equipped kitchen, and equipped with all the kitchen equipment: fridge, microwave, coffee maker, several pots and pans. Bathroom.
We took into account the few notes from 2023 and renovated our cottage accordingly.
The cottage stays cool during hot days and a fan is available for your use. Parking is available for your use.

The place is very quiet and secure, away from main roads. We recently completed a major renovation of the cottage. An old photo of the living room from before, remains by mistake on my page.
Cleanliness, comfort, and safety are my priorities . There is plenty of space. Everything is thought out to bring you comfort. You can safely leave your bikes behind the cottage, in a large private courtyard. There's no risk! The heater is open in the winter periods.
In Dinant you have the opportunity to carry out all kinds of sports activities (Speleology, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, paintball...) , discover the local culinary specialties (the famous Dinant couque, local beers such as the Leffe)and others; familiarize yourself with the historical monuments of the place (the citadel of Dinant accessible by chairlift, the Leffe museum, the Croisette with the possibility of taking a boat ride, the Collegiate Church of Dinant, the museum of Mr. Sax) and to enjoy the beauty of the Dinantian territories (the Merveilleuse cave, the Bayard rock and the Furfooz park).

Very nice to read together before going to bed and a walk to Durbuy after reading the story about the knights in the castle of Durbuy becomes much more adventurous. The toilet is separated from the bathroom which is really ideal. On the upper floor, a spacious built-in closet has been made. Our Boshuysje has a kitchen and living room in 1 large space with large windows overlooking the large garden and the surrounding forest. In the kitchen you will find a gas stove with oven, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, a regular coffee machine, professional pots, pots and bowls and kitchen appliances. There's a double American fridge with freezer with built-in chilled water and ice cube dispenser.

In addition to the dining room table that overlooks the plot, is the (sleeping)sofa that overlooks the smart TV on which you can also watch all streaming services in addition to watching TV. The living room is heated by a pellet stove and in the bedroom there is another electric radiator.
The sofa bed is comfortable to sit on but also has a real mattress where 2 people can sleep.

Behind the living room is the bedroom with double bed and a large double bath and the toilet. The water comes from the private spring of the forest park and is in addition to incredibly nice and very soft, so a bath or shower feels extra invigorating. The bed is made upon arrival at the cottage and bath towels and tea towels are included in the rental amount.

The windows of the bedroom have insect screen/screens.

Our Boshuysje has broadband WIFI, allowing multiple people to use internet and streaming services at the same time. This also makes it possible to work from the cottage from home.

In the summer there is an outdoor shower that is sheltered, anyway the neighbors are not visible and you can enjoy complete privacy on your own plot.

In front of the cottage is a covered terrace where you can enjoy the garden in the shade. In the garden there is a pond with sun loungers and seats to enjoy the silence with only the sounds of the forest.

Guest access
As a guest, you have free access to the entire plot on the detached garage. Access to the cottage is provided with a key safe with the necessary keys.

Other things to note
Our Boshuysje is regularly visited by 'our house cat' Mazzel who likes to give cups in exchange for some kibble. If you come with your dog or dogs, Mazzel will wisely keep distance and do not cause a burden.

Behind the cottage is a separate cubicle with a 2nd toilet and a simple sink.

The Nordic Cottage is for the more adventurous souls among us who love nature. It is a unique experience to stay in this house that is built entirely from natural materials without sacrificing comfort.
From here you can explore the beautiful "Pays des Collines" while cycling or walking. Or just chill in the savage garden, enjoy the flames of the woodstove or the outside campfire and to wake up with the peaceful sounds of nature.

The space
The Nordic Cottage is part of the domain called 'The Nordic Village'

This is a place for the adventurous souls among us who love nature and are looking for some time away from the hustle that daily life sometimes can be.. 

It is a beautiful, natural place where everything is built in a sustainable and ecological way. 

A place where you can come live for 2 days or more and relax in one of the three Nordic Houses with your own private outside area. A place for people who want to enjoy or have a taste of the basic, simplistic lifestyle. To chop your own wood so you can light the fireplace or the outside campfire. To read a book or simply rest and contemplate. To have a basecamp to go hike and bike in the forest or visit nice places in towns and villages… Everything is possible. It is truly a unique experience to stay in a house that is built entirely from natural materials without sacrificing comfort. 

This domain is located close to the nearby villages and surprisingly close to all the facilities you might need. And yet, when you enter The Nordic Village you will arrive in a courtyard of a seemingly other world. As if, when you shut the gate, you shut out this world and enter one of your own. 

When you walk through the entrance gate, you arrive in the courtyard. That is the central, shared area where a small swimming pond is located. There are three doors in the palisade around the courtyard. The name of The House you chose will be written on one of the doors and is the entrance to your own little domain. 

There, at Your Nordic Place with your own private outside area everything is completely at your disposal and you can use all facilities. There you have complete privacy.

It is completely surrounded with an enclosure so you can be sure that your dog, cat, baby, unicorn,.. will not escape or have encounters with other animals or human beings. :) 

Every house has all the facilities to ‘live’. To sleep, wash, cook, shower, relax,.. So that you can just have your own relaxing time alone or together.

Breakfast or meals are not provided here but there are many grocery stores and restaurants in the surrounding villages here.

Nature here is allowed to be nature, so I only do the garden trimming where it is really necessary. A nice and savage garden where you truly can feel close to mother earth.

The part where the natural Swimming pond is located is a shared area and you sometimes will share with other people who are staying in The Nordic Cottage, The Hobbit House or The Viking Hut on the domain.

At the Nordic Village it is also possible to rent bikes for 15euro/day so that you can explore the surroundings on two wheels! Just sent me a message if you would like to reserve your bikes and i'll make sure they are ready for you. More information can be provided when you are here or through message. :)

After your booking, you will be sent a digital welcome/guide book where you can find all the information about your Nordic House, How things work, where to go for shopping, Restaurants, hiking trails,.. Everything you might need!

When I am at the domain I will of course welcome you and show you around, otherwise You can check in yourself.

Keep in mind that you should provide your own bed linen and towels.
Of Course the duvet and pillows are provided.

There is always room for improvement, and trying to live ecologically is an ongoing process of learning and investing. I manage most of the things here by myself so I am very open to all of your suggestions. 

I truly wish for you to have a lovely, magical, relaxing and maybe even inspiring time here! Above all, this is a place that I created with much dedication and love. I hope you’ll love it the way I do! :)
