Short drive to studland beaches. A good, well-stocked shop with friendly staff. Refreshments/food good and good value. As the name suggests – this is a great place to star gaze whilst glamping in Dorset!
The Astronomer star gazing Shepherd’s hut has been very popular since its arrival, with a kingsized bed facing onto our expansive views and a panoramic glass roof panel in the unique copper ceiling directly over the bed. Made up with deluxe Angel Strawbridge bed linen, it is set in its own private outdoor space with covered BBQ area and with hot tub.

Parking is by prior agreement and is £10 per car per stay. You need to provide us with an ETA and ring 30 mins before your arrival and we will be by the road to direct you into the site and you can position your car in the mown area close to the entrance. Please read the directions that are sent out to you on booking as you have to go ignore the satnav at the end and carry on up Kingston hill until you see a lay-by on the right hand side. Slow right down as the turning into the field is a very sharp right just after the lay-by. You will need a suitable vehicle in wet weather. There is public transport (bus stop close by) which goes to Swanage, Studland, Poole, Bournemouth). Nearest train station with taxi rank and direct service to London is Wareham.
Other things to note
This spot is not usually open as accommodation so wildlife is in abundance and must be respected! We are a strictly non smoking site, which means no smoking inside or outside the tents.

The Novelist is a very special double hut joined by glass walkway. It comprises of a bedroom hut complete with copper roll-top bath, plus a larger hut with kitchen, living space and TV. This will be more spacious, suitable for longer stays!
Built to suit our very specific location it is designed to make the most of our expansive views, and based around a spacious wooden deck making it very private and relaxing.
The 2 shepherd’s huts are joined in a T through a glass walk way. From the luxury copper bath made by William Holland of Dorchester in the bedroom hut, you can soak in the best of our views – the window has been specially lowered to allow our guests to do this. In the living hut you can fling open the French doors and enjoy the best of the views from the sofa, or – at night – the mirror on the wall becomes a TV!
The gorgeously styled interior is very spacious for a romantic getaway for two – and with wi-fi connection it allows for the laptop to come too. Like the Astronomer hut, there is a panoramic window over the bed for star gazing. There is an outside shower and wood fired hot tub
