The carpets were stained there is mould around the shower screen and the taps, the worktop surfaces showed remnants of previous occupants. The toaster still had breadcrumbs in it. You cannot sit on the sofa as the cushions sag in the middle. The towel rail was on the floor. The shelves in the bathrooms and toilet roll holders are so badly fitted you cannot use them. The cushions on the sofa were stinking and stained. My husband is a gas safe engineer and highlighted an issue with the gas hob, that probably still has not been rectified. They advertise free underground parking, however, they forget to add it is only for small cars so we had to pay for a weeks parking. The table and chairs on the balcony are rusty. Due to the state of the property, we tried to spend as little time as we could in there. I have seen the good reviews and can only assume the property was in little use at that time. Penthouse in name only."

- "The property is located on a site which includes a hotel and a group of small private homes. None of which is a negative. The area is very quiet, but you definitely need a car. The surrounding area is sensationally beautiful and well worth a visit and we enjoyed our trips out very much. The property itself was disappointing. It looked good on paper, but the moment we opened the front door, it was smelly. The smell was a continual issue. Every time we returned from a trip, it was as though the place had been left unattended for a few weeks. There was a raised area of flooring which seemed to me to be an issue as well. Is this where it came from? We had to open all the windows each time we got back. On the third day of our 5 night stay, we returned and the it smelt strongly of (I assume) sewerage chemicals. Opening windows cleared it, but it was the final straw so we decided to cut our losses and return home. I had a couple of other gripes, but none would have been enough to cause us to go home early. The smell is the main complaint - an air freshener would not have sorted it. All the correspondence I’d had, was from Sykes Cottages, I tried to contact them on their What’s App, as I wanted to let them know. I had no response - not until days after we were home. I asked them for a refund on the final two nights. I’ve still yet to hear about this, but Expedia, although, were helpful but were not able to get this from them either it seems. Not happy."

There is also a small second room, with low down small double bed, good for children or another 2 guests. This room also has a great desk for anyone who wishes to work or be creative during their stay!

We provide free tea, coffee and oat milk. Some basic herbs and spices, oils etc are in the cupboard for basic cooking.

Fire wood for the log burner is provided in the months of November - January for free.

In addition to the bedroom and en-suite, you have your own private living/ dining space which backs onto a spacious garden, a large and secluded patio space, your own entrance and an off- road space to park your car.

Interesting history, with the building dating back to the 1650's, at which time it was the village school and meeting place.

Guests have own entrance (with lockbox and key). The BnB lies at the back of the house . This makes the BnB quiet, private and secluded, although close to village amenities.

We want to provide a peaceful and quiet experience, leaving our guests alone but being there if needed.

We have lived in the area for 30 years so can recommend local attractions.

Accommodation is located just outside the village of Kington Magna, north Dorset between Shaftesbury, 7 miles, and Sherborne, 9 miles, and set in the owner’s grounds. Well situated for visits to the many National Trust properties in the area, the sea (about 45 mins), Bath and Salisbury (both 50 mins).

Living area (kitchen/lounge) is on the first floor with double bedroom/ensuite bathroom and on ground floor twin bedroom/shower.

Garden with patio and furniture. No smoking. One pet considered.

Charming, country cottage, light and airy, cosy, comfortable and pretty room. Very quiet area of a small picturesque village, overlooking our lovely church. Very easy access to the famous Jurassic coast and beautiful countryside walks. Village shop, post office, ATM, farm shop selling local produce, several tearooms and two pubs all within a few minutes walk.

Number Five. Welcome to my 18th Century stone cottage 'Home Stay' B&B with a difference! All the bonuses of a home stay but with total privacy.

Upstairs, which is totally private for your sole use, a comfortable, pretty double room with the usual hospitality tray, mini fridge, free wifi and TV. Virtually adjoining is a private shower room.

Downstairs, breakfast in my modern, contemporary kitchen. A kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge/freezer are at your disposal. Tea/Coffee, milk, orange juice, cereals, homemade fruit compote, yoghurt, bread, butter and marmalade all provided. Or, should you prefer, I can serve you a cooked breakfast.

The Green is a delightful Hamstone house which was built in 1893. It sits alone at the back of the Village Green at the heart of the charming village of Nether Compton. Delightful countryside walks lead straight from your doorstep. Guests have the use of a large secluded lawn area with garden furniture. There are many good pubs in nearby villages and the old Market Town of Sherborne is 3 miles away.

Guests enjoy their own entrance, sitting room, kitchen, stairs and landing which leads to the bedrooms. The two bedrooms comprise: a kingsized double and a twin with 2 single beds. The kitchen has a hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle (no oven). The Sitting room has a wood burner. The whole space described is for your sole use.
