Rural Holiday Cottage with Wonderful Countryside Views on Friendly Smallholding.
Cottage
Stockland, Honiton, United Kingdom

We converted Golden Square Cottage from an old dairy. The cottage was designed to make the most of the amazing views from our hill top position. The view from the bedrooms and the large private deck are really special.

The cottage is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is in a great location for walking and exploring the Blackdown Hills and the Jurassic Coast is within easy reach for great days on the seafront.

Finished to a high standard, with every detail carefully thought out. We've tried to be as environmentally friendly as possible, installing solar panels to provide hot water, using responsibly sourced wood for the windows and doors made by a local craftsman, and using eco friendly paints and finishings wherever possible. As even rural areas are moving with the times we now have a Fibre Broadband connection at the cottage.

Guest Reviews:

- "The pictures don’t do it justice. Th cottage was spotless with everything needed for our stay. Rob had great tips for things to do. The goats provided lots of entertainment for the kids. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you" - "Excellent location with great views and the facilities in the cottage were also excellent. Very enjoyable stay." - "True to listing. Tranquil rural setting. Excellent host. Lovely cottage." - "We have stayed at this farm-house previously and very much enjoyed it. This time, we took our young dog with us. The walks are great, although hilly, and the countryside surrounding this very rural spot is very quiet. However, it is not too far from Honiton, and a little further, the coasts of Lyme Regis, Seaton & Sidmouth. Lovely clean, well kept and extremely well equipped accommodation, and the owners on site in their own house are very friendly and helpful, but will leave you alone to get on with your break. We will go again, as most places and resorts are dog friendly, as is the holiday home. Highly recommended."

Stone Cottage, Honiton
Cottage
Devon

We converted our cottage from an old derelict workshop. Located on a quiet secluded lane just behind the High Street, it offers visitors a peaceful haven close to amenities.

Featuring stone walls, woodburning stove, double height living room, the cottage has lots of character.

Direct trains from London Waterloo, no car needed, the station is a few minutes walk.

Great for a family with young children, or two couples utilising the sofa bed in the snug ( which has its own bathroom).

The space
The cottage was converted from an old stable building, with many of the original features such as exposed stone walls, vaulted spaces and original timber roof trusses retained, creating a space with plenty of charm combined with modern detailing. The main bedroom overlooks the double height living space with its stone walls and woodburning stove.
The cottage is ideally suited to a family with young children, with a second bedroom containing two full size cabin beds located off the main bedroom. There is the further option of a second bedroom downstairs in the snug with a comfortable sofa bed and own ensuite bathroom.
On cold winter evenings there is nothing better than settling down snugly inside watching the woodburning stove casting shadows across the stonework, whilst on warmer days the south facing garden with its lawn and seating catches the sun.

Guest access
Entire cottage.

Other things to note

Golden Square Cottage
Cottage
Devon

Rural Holiday Cottage with Wonderful Countryside Views on Friendly Smallholding.
Cottage set in the beautiful East Devon countryside.

We have only just opened up our calendar on the Airbnb site for 2024 as we have be hosting guest successfully for 9 years on a different site with excellent feedback.

We have a EV 7KW charging station recently installed at the cottage to help accommodate electric vehicles.

The space

Guest access

Large living/dining room. One large comfortable new sofa. Two armchairs. Pretty cushions. Flat screen smart TV, freeview, DVD player and Xbox. Selection of games and DVD's. Lovely Laura Ashley rug. Wooden dining table and chairs up-cylced in Farrow and Ball.
Good selection of toys games and books available for young and old.

Other things to note
A large private deck with table and chairs and a parasol to ensure you can make the most of the amazing views and beautiful setting. A BBQ is provided on the decking for alfresco cooking and dinning. There is also a picnic bench in the orchard below the deck which you are welcome to use.
Enjoy exploring our woodlands and the common land that adjoins our farm, where you can look out for the deer, badgers and owls that live there. By walking across the field with our little flock of Shetland sheep, you can reach a stile that leads into our woods. From there you can join up with a truly magical footpath leading down a small gully crisscrossed with pretty wooden bridges - a really idillic spot. The footpath leads down towards the Stockland turbaries, a large area of common land that has some unique habitats to explore. It's a nature loves paradise - endless opportunities for exploring, playing, climbing trees and hunting for bugs and other wildlife.

Traditionally West Country throughout, all flagstones and beams, brilliantly-kept beers, wonderful food that is inspired, delicious and hands-down beating all rivals and the very best of the very warmest of welcomes. Without any doubt this is going to be THE pub to visit in the Lyme/Axminster/Honiton area; utterly, utterly brilliant. Congratulations to a lovely team for setting the bar for how all pubs should be. I cannot recommend it too highly.

Siskins Nook (sleeps 4) - Private Hot Tub
Cottage
Devon

Siskins Nook (sleeps 4)
PRIVATE HOT TUB

Don’t be surprised if you get a faint scent of apples on the air when you’re staying at Siskins Nook; in days gone by this is where they bought the fruit in from the local orchards and used it to make farmhouse cider; many a happy hour was spent sitting on the rustic benches here, making sure the brew had turned out right.

The space
But of course, that was yonks ago; since then it’s been given a new lease of life and offers very restful holiday accommodation for 4 people in two bedrooms, so it’s perfect for two couples as a good base for a walking holiday, or for a family looking to have a relaxing stay in the Devon countryside.

You’ll see how the pastoral charm has been retained; some of the thick stone walls are left bare, others are painted white; centuries old timbers have been left as they were, and all the quirky window openings are still there. It all blends seamlessly with the top-notch modern furnishings, all there for your convenience.

On the ground floor there’s an ample open plan living space; stairs straight ahead, kitchen to the right, living room to the left. The Shaker style kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer. When the weather’s good open the top of the stable door to the garden and let the fresh air drift in around you whilst you sit at the table enjoying your breakfast. In the chillier months, get back from a walk around the fields and snuggle up on the sofas in front of the wood-burner; get yourselves settled with a nice hot drink, maybe some toasted teacakes, and find something to watch on TV, or hunker down for a movie night.

A contemporary glass and wood staircase takes you to the landing where off to the left is Bedroom 1, with a kingsize pine bed, and built in wardrobes. To the right is Bedroom 2 which can be a twin or a superking room and can also accommodate a cot.

In the middle, the shared bathroom is finished to a high standard and has a P bath with an overhead shower.

At the back of Siskins Nook there’s a private garden that’s mostly laid to lawn and has its own hot tub - and don’t forget, you also have use of the huge shared grounds and games room. This is such a lovely place to stay for family holidays, cosy weekends away, walking breaks and days with friends. Book today!

Other things to note
Siskins Nook is dog friendly, with 1 x well behaved dog welcome at a charge of £50 each. This is to cover the cost of any additional cleaning.

We request a security deposit of £100 prior to your stay; this will be refunded to you after your departure.

Siskins Nook is one of three holiday cottages at Stonehayes Farm. Each is self-contained with its own garden area (unfenced). This cottage has a private hot tub and garden, as well as shared use of the grounds, bbq area and games room.
