- "I had a most enjoyable stay at The Coach House over Christmas . Clean and well-maintained with lovely stunning sea views; I found it cosy, relaxing and well-equipped. It was just a short stroll to the pretty harbour where there are a couple of shops, a hotel open to non-residents, a pub and restaurant. A bus takes in Porlock Village and Minehead. I enjoyed glorious walks along the coast, through woodlands and across the fabulous moorland of Exmoor (easy to find the ponies but deer-spotting needs an eagle eye). I most definitely recommend this property which had the further benefit of being able to park securely right outside the front door."

- "From start to finish everything was perfect. The correspondence and help during the booking of the property to the stay itself. The Stable Block is a beautiful, well presented cottage with stunning views. An ideal property for two. Cosy and very comfortable. On arrival we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack which included tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge. The cottage was very well equipped for a self catering stay. Spotlessly clean with plenty of crockery, cutlery etc. They had also provided a hairdryer, hair straighteners, hot water bottle, shower gels etc. We came for a few days away for peace and quiet and certainly found it here. The cottage is a short walk from Porlock Weir. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful. We had mixed weather during our stay but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. Two days of sunshine, one of sunshine and very heavy showers and rain the day we left to come home. Exmoor is very different in the sunshine and rain and we were lucky to experience both. We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to return one day soon. Thank you for a wonderful short break."

The region
Exmoor is situated in South West Britain, specifically across West Somerset and North Devon. Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.
Porlock Weir has a quaint little harbour and its own unique charm; the port has a long and colourful history. Today Porlock Weir is a quiet harbour and a thriving community that welcomes tourists every year, many of whom come to enjoy the pretty scenery, shops, tea rooms, pubs and local cuisine. On a fine day, the South West Coast Path offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fabulous views across Porlock Weir and the bay. The coastal footpath links up with many other walking trails including Culbone, home to the smallest church in England. One of the more unusual attractions at Porlock Weir is the submerged forest. At low tide, the remains of ancient tree trunks arise from the grey clay soil. These desiccated stumps are the last remaining evidence of a forest that, once upon a time, lay five miles inland.
- "The property is spacious. The kitchen is excellently well equipped and there is plenty of comfortable seating for all, There are lovely views of the sea from all the windows. Beware of the differing levels upstairs. The en-suite shower is a tight fit but the bathroom has plenty of space. The heating is very good and efficient. And the nearest pub is only 5 mins walk away. It is excellent but there is a need to book for a meal. " - "The cottage is beautifully furnished with lots of ornaments . Very clean and well presented . Potluck Weir is a lovely village with a pub, shops and a restaurant"

Security Deposit Information
A £100.00 security deposit is required.
This will be added to the total price of your booking, and will be refunded after your stay unless the owner discovers damage to the property or its contents after your departure.
- "A charming cottage in a wonderful spot where there is always something going on. We have been using Best of Exmoor for years and wouldn't consider booking an Exmoor holiday through any other company." - "Loved our stay Western Cottage - have stayed in Porlock for many years and always wanted to be on the weir- the cottage was fantastic, everything has been thought of from hot water bottles and salt and pepper pots to the flood gates should they be needed - and we have had the most brilliant week away. Beds were extremely comfortable and we had even been left washing tablets for the washer. We are a family of 2 teens and they also loved every minute of this unique stay. If there is a downside it’s to remember that with no real or reliable phone signal here the Wi-Fi in the cottage is poor and glitched constantly. Not a necessity by any means but we couldn’t reliably make or take calls which on occasion we needed to do."

Highly recommended " - "Had a lovely time at this property. Although the house is quite big we mostly spent our time here in the lovely conservatory. The weather was a big help having the doors and Windows open to wander into the amazing garden. Did some lovely walks and visited some great pubs! A very good chance we may return."

Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors!
