The beach is a stones throw. The pubs - the Anchor (a green king pub) and the Barrel of Beer (lovely wet pub) and I highly recommend the Smugglers kitchen for dinner. The Bay Inn for lunches. Thank you for letting us stay in your gorgeous cottage. " - "Cottage had everything we could ask for. Plenty to do in Beer. Parked the car and it never moved all week. So many lovely walks and the locals were so friendly. Relaxed and clean place to stay. Cannot wait to go back!! Oh and our two little dogs loved it too. Met some lovely like minded people. The Deli is so good and all three pubs were friendly and dog friendly too. Lady in post office was so helpful when I had a parcel delivered but it went to wrong Crabtree Cottage."

For an unpretentious, buckets-and-spade family holiday, head to Littlefields in the traditional village of Seaton. This beautifully designed open-plan cottage is just a short walk to the bright and breezy town centre and beach. After a day by the sea, let the children run wild in the huge back garden, while you enjoy a glass of bubbly and a hydropool spa on the large patio area or cosy up inside around the woodburner after a bracing autumn walk. The original farm cottage used to be surrounded by fields and was owned by the same family for nearly 100 years. Renovated in 2020 to the highest of standards, today it provides a relaxed, comfortable environment for families or a group of friends.
Modern comfort depicts the vibe at Littlefields. This home is the epitome of relaxed charm, where you can kick back in style. The pretty open-plan kitchen and dining area is ideal for big family meals and bi-fold doors make the most of indoor-outdoor living in good weather. Imagine returning from the beach and sipping a glass of something cold on the pretty terrace, while the children play in the large, 45 metre-long garden. Eat outside – there are pretty lanterns for when darkness falls – then drift back in to relax in the two lounge areas. The sumptuously decorated first lounge comfortably seats four and is a lovely space to cosy up around the woodburner to watch a movie. The second lounge has space for three and is a peaceful place to settle down with a book or game of Scrabble.
Fresh Escapes will provide in advance details on how to access the property. We also give you an in-depth manual with local recommendations so that you make the most of your stay.
Littlefields is professionally managed by Fresh Escapes. A Devon based privately owned Vacation Rental and Management company who are here to ensure your stay runs as smoothly as possible.
A day out in Seaton means plenty of good, clean fun. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump from Littlefields into the town centre and its pretty beach and esplanade. Spend the morning paddleboarding at the beach – hire all your kit at Seaton Bay Watersports – then head to the Hideaway for a delicious locally sourced lunch. This is a fabulous seaside cafe tucked – as its name suggests – safely away from the more populated main town at the end of the esplanade.
In the afternoon, join Wild East Devon rangers at Seaton Wetlands (a must for nature lovers) for a family fun-packed hour of exploring, discovering wildlife and getting creative. You can also have a personalised guided trail of discovery, well away from any crowds, to behind-the-scenes places where you can feel completely isolated and at ease. One of the most picturesque villages in Devon, Colyton, which provides a wealth of historic buildings and independent shops, is just a 20-minute stroll away.
Littlefields is also an excellent base to explore the Jurassic Coastline and east Devon or Dorset. Seaton is set in a landscape of outstanding natural beauty, and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Seaton Jurassic, Devon Wildlife Trust’s flagship visitor centre, is a dynamic new attraction that tells the amazing story of the remarkable coastline – a fascinating experience for any budding archaeologists in your party. Further up the coast and worth a visit are Lyme Regis Museum and Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, which have fossil displays and hold fossil walks.
Once you’ve explored the coastline on land, take in the view from the sea with Stuart Line Cruises, based in Exmouth. Gaze at the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, cruise the beautiful River Exe or visit a picture-postcard South Devon town, such as Sidmouth.
Hire traditional wooden self-drive boats and set sail for an hour’s mackerel fishing in Beer – a delightful fishing village, recently named BBC Countryfile’s Best Picnic Spot 2020. Enjoy the view at Ducky’s beach cafe, which does great crab and even ice cream for dogs!
For bright lights and culture, it’s a 35-minute drive to Exeter. Head there for city shopping, restaurants and bars.
Seaton town centre and the beach are within walking distance from Littlefields. Take the unique Seaton Tramway, which runs open-roofed narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley. You’ll travel alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves with unrivalled views of the abundant wading bird life.
Littlefields is an excellent base to explore the Jurassic Coastline and Devon or Dorset. 35 mins from Exeter for city shopping and restaurants

The area is ideal for beachcombers and walkers with the nearby beach backed by magnificent cliffs with coastal paths to Beer and Sidmouth. Branscombe is famous for being situated on the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Coastline. The village is set in a beautiful valley meandering down to the sea, surrounded by National Trust land.
The cottage boasts a wealth of character and is beautifully furnished with a nautical theme and designer soft furnishings. The property benefits from larger than expected front and back gardens with patio areas for dining alfresco.
The property is accessed from the road by five stone steps, with a stream flowing beneath, and entering through an archway into the front garden, which incorporates a rockery.
The delightful open plan lounge / dining room has a feature fireplace with an electric fire and is luxuriously furnished with oak furniture, a large dining table with seating for 6, TV, DVD and music system. There is Wi-fi at the cottage, but the mobile phone signal in the village is very poor. There is a land line for emergencies but otherwise it is incoming calls only.
The charming kitchen incorporates a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer, microwave, oven, hob and is fully equipped. The kitchen also allows for access to the back garden.

LOCAL AREA
Branscombe is a haven for walkers and for birdwatchers and the area is known as the Jurassic Coast and is ideal for exploring on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
There is plenty to do in the area such as, take a trip on the tram in Seaton, or visit the nearby donkey sanctuary. Honiton market town is the home of Honiton lace and hosts a street market on a Saturday Sidmouth boasts a beach and each year holds a folk festival. Beer has a lovely pebble beach, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a quarry and caves which is open to visitors. The vast man-made complex of underground caves was created by hundreds of years of quarrying the famous Beer stone. The underground quarry which was first worked by the Romans, which in those days was quarried by hand. A small block weighing about 4 tons was carted on horse-drawn wagons and by barges from Beer Beach to its destination, sometimes involving journeys of several hundreds of miles. The quarry has supplied stone for 24 cathedrals including St Paul’s, The Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court and Exeter Cathedral.
A few local towns and villages to visit are Sidmouth, Dawlish Warren, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Honiton and Budleigh Salterton.
Lyme Regis boasts fabulous scenery and is an ancient town featured in the ‘Domesday Book’ and is home to a number of historical landmarks and educational attractions. Its historic harbour wall is known as the Cobb and is one of several iconic features, set against cliffs, yielding fossilised evidence of life on earth millions of years ago and is a great place to discover a lot you didn’t know about the UK's heritage.
- "Cottage was charming and as described and perfect for what we needed. Owner had left a Christmas tree out so that was appreciated. Parking space a little tight (we had a Small van) - but no problems parking elsewhere. A friendly criticism - 9am (Covid restrictions or not) is not a reasonable time to expect people to check out. 10 is minimum/standard." - "Sunbeam cottage is in a wonderful location for the beautiful Branscombe beach and village. Due to covid alot of the ornaments, cushions , books & games had been removed. We were told this ahead of our stay. This did make the lounge look bear and tired, but comfortable. The double bedrooms have very comfortable mattresses but my daughter said the single she had was a bit hard. The bedding is lovely. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed, containing all you need . The outdoor space is not like the posted photos as the conifer high hedge to the front has been removed and replanted with new small saplings which leaves it open and not at all private. The back garden is overgrown but has a wonderful high large patio where you can catch the morning sun. This isn't listed in the description so we found it a wonderful added bonus. The windows did need a clean and the lounge could do with a bit of TLC to remove small wisteria shoots and a general freshen up but this cottage is a good place for a holiday stay. "
