Branscombe is a small picturesque village situated on the Jurassic coast of East Devon. It has been featured in the Guardian as one of the best British beaches. East Devon is full of character with many country cottage towns and villages.The countryside is stunning, and there are many gorgeous walks inland and on the coast, including the South West Coastal footpath with it's amazing coastal panoramas from the clifftops.The village itself has a national trust farm, watermill, tea house and forge.

Bosun's Rest is a two bedroom maisonette in the heart of Beer, South Devon. It is very near to pubs and shops and just 100 metres to the beach. It has parking for two cars, a fully fitted kitchen and a stunning balcony. It is clean, modern and very comfortable.
The loft bedroom has a king sized double bed and its own en suite with bath and shower. The lower bedroom has twin single beds. There is a separate bathroom on this floor with a shower. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle and all the cutlery, crockery, etc that you will require. The lounge has 2 sofas, plus a 43” smart TV, DVD player and stereo. The whole property has double glazing and central heating. There is parking enough for 2 cars which is a rare luxury considering its position in Beer and proximity to the shops, pubs and beach.

- "Spacious and comfortable flat, the description of it is accurate. It has lovely views across the bay and is good for people (and dog) watching. Access is from the back of the building, but it is a short walk around to the seafront. Seaton has some very interesting buildings and the Axemouth harbour end is lovely. The other end of the bay has interesting rocks and cliffs, and the labyrinth cut out of the grass in the park above is fun. For fishing, there is a well-stocked bait shop on the other side of the harbour bridge."

Accommodation is all on one level with two bedrooms and a light open plan living area with a wide bay window… great for observing the comings and goings of the town. This is a lovely spot with cafes, galleries and shops on the doorstep so it’s easy to pop out for a meal at one of the pubs if you don’t fancy cooking.
Beer is a traditional fishing village in a sheltered bay on the beautiful World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The port dates back to the 15th century and is charming with its beach huts and colourful boats washed up on the shingle. Stroll around the independent shops, galleries and cafes, take a walk along the dramatic cliff hugging coastal path to Branscombe beach. It’s been attractively furnished to a superb standard with excellent quality fixtures and fittings. Walk to the small Axmouth Harbour the other end (1 mile) of this beach. If the pebbles get too much, opt for the Esplanade. Check out the town’s shops, grab a coffee and maybe take a ride on the Tramway. Or just get your boots on and hike the 2 miles along the South West Coast Path to picture-postcard Beer.

Our charmingly furnished self catering holiday accommodation sleeps up to 4 people in comfort. Situated in Branscombe village square, close to the local real ale and food pub and a short walk from the beautiful unspoilt beach at Branscombe mouth.
During this difficult time my caretaker will be wiping down all hard surfaces thoroughly with anti bacterial disinfectant between guests. The apartment is situated in an area of Devon with many walks where it will be safe to reduce social interaction.

Seafarer Studio is a relaxing self contained space on the lower ground floor of our family house. Ideally suited to couples/individuals looking for a simple place to stay in the heart of rural Branscombe village. It has its own front door and is tucked away from main house which faces the other way affording privacy to all. Shared driveway, 1 parking space and private decking area. 10 mins easy stroll to beach through the water meadows, around the corner from the excellent Masons Arms pub.

The space
Seafarer Studio is a recently rennovated self contained space on the lower ground floor of our 18th century family house in the heart of Branscombe village.

It is a unique and very rural location and great for those with an adventurous spirit who just want to relax and unplug from the noise of modern living a bit.

The studio has its own entrances with front and french doors and has a lovely outside decking area with table and chairs for eating al fresco and enjoying some outside space. The studio is accessed via a gated hill driveway just over the little stream which leads to the main house. Seafarer studio has one allocated parking space at the top right side of the drive next to the Seafarer entrance gate.

The beach is 500 yards away (10 mins walk) through flat water meadows accessed from the foot of the driveway. Seafarer is in an exceptional location and is the perfect spot for guests to unwind and enjoy the timeless magic of the village. Guests are on the doorstep of a host of spectacular coastal walks, the stunning beach and the cosy 14th Century Masons Arms pub is around the corner.

The Seafarer Studio is a simple but comfortable little living space with the following:

An open plan bedroom and living area with a comfy double bed with cosy mattress topper, wardrobe, plenty of storage space, well equipped kitchenette with a microwave, 2 ring electric hotplate, toaster, kettle, Nespresso Krups coffee machine and fridge freezer at your disposal.

A lovely daybed/sofa with an abundance of comfy cushions will help you relax in the evenings whilst watching TV or playing the board games we have at your disposal.

Modern bathroom with shower. Fluffy towels and crispy bedlinen provided.

Your living space has french doors which open up onto a lovely decked area surrounded with plants which makes it a lovely little oasis for our guests.

We have two wonderful village pubs; The award winning Masons Arms, around the corner which serves delicious high end food and drink and The Fountain Head pub (one of the oldest pubs in the UK at over 500 years old) which serves delicious locally sourced produce and traditional ales which is an easy 20 minute walk through the village.

Please let us know if you would like us to pre book you a table at either pub for your first night.

After a gentle morning listening to the waves crashing and birdsong from your bed, take a stroll to the beach for a dip in the crystal clear water or a hike up the hills and a lazy meander back through the water meadows. Then head to one of the pubs for a delicious evening meal and some real ale before strolling home under the stars.

Star gazing is a must as there is absolutely no light pollution in Branscombe. You may even spot some glow worms if you are lucky.

Guests will be able to access the Seafarer studio via the hill drive (over a small cattle grid which runs over the stream) to the main house. The main entrance is gated.

There is one parking space allocated for Seafarer guests at the top right of the shared driveway. Your hosts will have use of the garage and second driveway space.

Guests have their own front door entrance to Seafarer, which has an open plan bedroom (with comfy double bed) and living area with separate bathroom (and shower) with french doors leading to a private enclosed decking area.

Guests are welcome to share our front 'orchard' garden and help yourselves to apples.

Your hosts will be in residence in the main house (with separate front door and entrance) so will be around should you need anything, otherwise we shall leave you to enjoy the tranquility that Branscombe has to offer.

Please read before booking:

There are a few small steps leading to the Seafarer studio which are not great for those with mobility issues and small children.

Seafarer and the main house were built in the early 1800s so the house is very old and has its' own unique quirks. Added to which the gorgeous but very rural location is not for the faint hearted - the roads leading in/out of Branscombe are steep.

Seafarer Studio is insulated and cosy but there is no plumbed in heating. The electric heater warms the space up nicely on chilly evenings and there are hot water bottles and extra cosy blankets if required.

Hot water is on a good sized timed electric water tank which has an easy access booster button in the kitchenette when more hot water is required.

The walk to the beach is less than 10 minutes, or you can drive to the car park in about a minute. You are charged on exit.

Rental rate includes bedlinen, tea towels, bathmat, hand and bath towels. Beach towels are not included.

Sadly we are unable to welcome dogs and small children due to the size and set up of the studio.

Your hosts have a cocker spaniel - Barney and a very lazy cat -Socks. The chances are Socks will make an appearance to say hello.

The apartment has the latest entertainment tech including high speed WiFi, smart TV, Sonos, board games and dvds. Master bedroom has a kingsize bed, with two standard (aka adult size) single beds in the second bedroom. We’ve hosted over 500 families and understand that tastes differ, therefore different pillow varieties are always available on site.

We suggest packing lightly with rucksacks or a beach trolly to transfer your luggage accross to Swallow from the car park. The Sea Shanty are able to offer a luggage buggy service for £25 which is available any day before 4pm (more details provided in arrival instructions).

Guests can explore the Jurassic Coast whilst enjoying stunning walks in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and The South West Coast Path. The Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy and Pecorama are all nearby for fun filled days with the kids. There are a wide range of activities nearby, from Paddleboarding and water skiing to Golf at Sidmouth Golf Club. Sidmouth and the nearby local towns have a wealth of independent boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, including Otterton Mill and Lympstone Manor. There are two pubs within walking distance, The Fountain Head and The Masons Arms, along with the Sea Shanty shop and cafe on Branscombe Beach.

There are also intermittent ongoing repairs to the middle and end section of the lane including some of the closed chalets. The space
The shingle beach, also a short stroll away, provides a scenic spot to watch colourful fishing boats bobbing in and out of the bay. Those craving adventure can follow the South West Coast Path which passes within 40 metres of the front door, leading to Seaton (2.5 miles) or Branscombe (2 miles), both offering breathtaking coastal views. Further afield, the charming seaside town of Lyme Regis awaits, just 9.5 miles away.


From the shared entrance, take the stairs up to your front door. Kick off your shoes and head into the open-plan living space, where you’ll find an L-shaped sofa with Smart TV, wooden floors, pale walls and touches of colour for a fresh, relaxed feel. A kitchen equipped with everything you’ll need to prep holiday meals, and a washer/dryer is situated on the far wall and tucked away in the corner is a drinks station, where cups of tea and coffee can be brewed or help yourself to a glass of your favourite tipple. Two guests can dine comfortably at the dining table with views of Jubilee Gardens and a glimpse of the sea. When you start to yawn, follow the hall to find the restful double bedroom with a shower room and WC next door.


Although there is no dedicated outdoor space for this apartment, the nearby suntrap beach is the perfect place to relax in the fresh air.

Regency Sidmouth is 8 miles away and Lyme Regis with it’s famous Cobb and great fish restaurants is a 7 miles drive.

It’s been attractively furnished to a superb standard with excellent quality fixtures and fittings. The mezzanine bedroom with skylights and a sloping ceiling is a delight and the rear patio receives its fair share of sun.

The space
There are then stairs to the first floor and the apartment. As you enter, you’ll notice it’s very light and bright and that there is oak flooring throughout except for in the luxury carpeted bedroom. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has two large windows overlooking the square, a TV, a dining table and chairs, and a well-fitted and equipped kitchen for crafting tasty meals. Staying on this level, there is a fully tiled, luxury shower room featuring a large shower cubicle with both rainfall and handheld showerheads. A spiral staircase from the living area leads up to an open mezzanine floor that features a king-size bedroom with limited headroom on one side.

This beautiful apartment is situated in the square with local shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and two supermarkets all close by. You’ll be under 100 metres from the beach and the seafront with its esplanade. The pretty harbour is an easy 0.5-mile level walk away and the golf course is a little further. It’s just a short walk to the South West Coast Path; in one direction, you can reach the picturesque fishing village of Beer (2 miles), or Branscombe (5 miles) and the opposite direction to Lyme Regis (8 miles) with its famous harbour wall known as the Cobb and an excellent selection of specialist shops. A little further on is Charmouth (11.5 miles) with the Heritage Coast Centre offering fossil hunting walks, rockpool rambles and special marine events.
