The Starting Gate is a purpose built studio flat (sleeps 2+1) situated in a beautiful, tranquil, rural location approximately one mile from the historic town of Bruton in Somerset. It is ideally situated for single travellers or couples wanting to explore the beautiful countryside and visit the many local attractions. A dedicated broadband connection and quiet surroundings also make The Starting Gate an ideal base for those on a business trip in the area.
As we run a private, well equipped competition stable yard it is also possible to bring your horse with you subject to appropriate arrangements. There is access to plenty of off road and quiet lane hacking and there are excellent competition venues close by.

The Starting Gate is a first floor studio flat with a private entrance and is equipped with a bath as well as a separate shower. A bonus is a separate dressing room/lounge with a second smart TV and a comfortable single sofa bed. Outside, the Starting Gate benefits from a private patio area and guests are also welcome to make use of a shared, enclosed garden area.
We live on site and are available should any problems arise.

A calm, comfortable space in a peaceful location, with plenty of parking by front door. Although it is part of my home, it is private and curtained off from the main part of the house. The front door (for the sole use of guests) is accessed from the driveway and leads to the curtained off suite on the right hand side.

The property is situated a 10 minute walk from Bruton town centre, 5 minutes from the railway station, 10 minute walk to Hauser and Wirth gallery. The Newt is a 10 minute drive.

The space
The suite of rooms consists of a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The sitting room is warm and stylish with a bay window and a great view of the front garden and countryside. There are plenty of books to read, hifi, and a tv with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus etc.. Also in the sitting room, is a fridge and microwave (no kitchen sink!), table and 2 chairs for dining.

In the bathroom there is a corner bath and shower and toilet.

The bedroom has a large bed (made up of 2 singles that can be separated if that is preferable), a tv, chest of drawers and wardrobe.

Guest access
Guests have sole access to the large front garden where there is seating. They can park right outside the property and there is ample parking for 2 vehicles. The shared area is the hallway/lobby which is only used by the owner to go up or downstairs.

Our Two bedroom Oak loft Suite features two comfortable bedrooms - one with a king-size bed and bedroom two with twin beds - all with extremely comfortable Hypnos beds for a perfect nights sleep. It has a spacious and large open plan sitting room with contemporary furnishings and flat screen tv with a gas fired wood burner stove, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with pod coffee machine and a complimentary hospitality tray with our home-made chocolate brownies awaiting your arrival. The Modern luxury bathroom is contemporary and has a large walk-in shower and is fully equipped with our luxury toiletries and fluffy towels. There is an additional cloakroom facility off of the sitting room.
Rooms feature a hairdryer, iron and ironing board and flat screen tv.
