Rose Cottage is situated at the heart of the farm, hidden behind a stone wall covered in climbing roses, clematis and honeysuckle, and reached through an arched gateway. - "The house was very nicely furnished and decorated. The upstairs lounge area has lovely views over Slapton Ley from big windows. The kitchen was well equipped and the owners provided welcome milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Downstairs there is a lovely bathroom and comfortable bedroom. Outside there is only very small yard (accessed via the alleyway). OK for storing wet or sandy gear but not suitable for sitting outside, however the beach is only a few steps along the alley so not a problem! There is a café offering a great cup of tea, cake and sweets for the children and the famous Start Bay Inn, serving up their fabulous fish & chips every day of the week! Stokeley farm shop is a short walk away and has a wide selection of foods including a butchers, local freshly made bread, fruit & veg plus much more. Their café serves a cracking breakfast and in the evening The Tap House serves pizza with a fully licensed bar with regular music nights.

The cottage is situated on the South West Coast Path that takes you in both directions, towards Slapton Beach or to Start Point Light House. This ground floor apartment is located just a few yards from the beach at Torcross and can sleep four people in two bedrooms. The property is all on one level but there are four steps to access the entrance.

A historical site of interest for visitors, this area of coastline is a site where the Normandy landings were practiced. Slapton Sands is a 1.2 mile-long stretch of shingle beach, which is dog-friendly all year round. This area is fantastic for nature lovers, with Slapton Ley Nature Reserve adjacent to the beach. The towns of Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are both within driving distance, offering boutique shops, galleries and restaurants.

Escape to the country and find sanctuary in our two-hundred year-old, newly renovated, two-room cottage, situated at the end of a peaceful farm courtyard, with a secluded and enchanting private garden, and views over pasture fields that run down to the sea and the fabulous beaches of South Devon.

The space
At Rose Cottage, luxury beckons everywhere you look: contemporary oak furniture, heated slate floors, a comfy leather sofa and original art on every wall. The spacious bedroom has a kingsize bed with crisp, 400-count cottons, a large basin and dresser, and a positively decadent marble-tiled ensuite bathroom with power shower. The living area is cleverly designed to make use of every bit of space, and incorporates a fully-equipped kitchen, a wood burner for colder evenings, and HD TV with DVD and satellite.

Three sets of French doors ensure the cottage is filled with light whatever the weather, and give direct access from both rooms to the cottage's private garden: a flagged and graveled patio area with outdoor dining facilities and barbecue, a terrace planted with mature trees, shrubs and ground cover, and a well stocked herb garden for guests’ use. A gate at the end of the garden opens onto our own pasture, with views to fishing village of Beesands a mile away, where an excellent pub and an award-winning fish restaurant will delight even the most jaded of appetites.

Wake to the sound of the cock crowing. Collect your own eggs for breakfast, and try some home-cured bacon from our free-range black pigs. Fill your time lounging in the garden, collecting shells on the beach, swimming in the sea, surfing, cycling, horseriding, or just pottering about the quiet country lanes between the cottage and the coast. At the end of another busy day, as the evening draws in and dusk descends on the farmyard, sit back with a glass of something or other and listen to the sounds of the countryside putting itself to bed – the pheasants calling as they fly home to their roosts, or the first hoot of our resident tawny owls. In a few hours the stars will be out and, untrammelled by city light pollution, set to put on a magnificent display.

Guests have a private garden and free access to the orchard with its giant trampoline. They are welcome to explore the farm and visit the animals in their homes: we keep horses, Shetland sheep, chickens, ducks and rare breed pigs, with very cute piglets!

Other things to note
Rose Cottage is a popular destination all year round. Weekly rates only apply to whole weeks starting and finishing on a Saturday, otherwise the daily rate applies. During major holidays and school vacation periods we give preference to renters taking the accommodation from Saturday to Saturday.

A truly sublime experience, you cannot be closer to the sea than this! With the ever changing weather and sea state the view is always something new to behold. The window seats are a great place to relax, read or reflect. Fall asleep listening to the sea and wake to spectacular sunrises.

The space
The building is so pretty with a plethora of beams and oak floors, with a beachy decor. In your room, drift off to sleep in the most comfortable Vi Spring 5’5” bed from where you can watch the waves.... Tea and Coffee making facilities are available in your room, with fresh milk and luxury biscuits, you have a lovely large en suite bathroom with bath and shower over. Leave the door, and it’s mere steps to the nature lover’s paradise at Slapton Ley. Amble two minutes in the opposite direction and you’ll find yourself on miles of pearly white beach edging one of Devon’s most beautiful bays. Sunny days are spent lazing on the beach or paddling in the ocean while cooler days are whiled away over a seafood lunch in nearby Dartmouth. The cottage has two gardens - one to the front of the property with views over the Ley, and a terraced garden at the back.

Living
On the ground floor, this beautiful room features two stylish sofas, an armchair and occasional furniture pieces including a mirror and bookshelf. A log-burner sits centred at the far end with a 36" Smart TV mounted to the wall. There are books and games provided as well as a Bluetooth speaker for entertainment. Guests are requested to please supply their own logs for the log-burner and will be able to restock at the local farm shop. This room has underfloor heating

Snug / study
Furnished with a sofa, armchair and console table, it has views towards the ley and makes the perfect reading spot

Kitchen / diner
Accessed through the snug the kitchen / diner features a hardwood table and chairs, and a kitchen island with bar seating. Bright and contemporary, the kitchen abounds with storage, worktop space and appliances. There’s an electric hob with extractor fan, electric oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and integrated dishwasher as well as an exceptional range of cookware, utensils and appliances including a slow cooker, food processor and Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own Vertuo pods).

Perfectly configured for versatility, this light and bright room features twin beds which can be linked to form a king size (on request), bedside tables and a gentleman's wardrobe with hanging space and shelves.

There is a travel cot available to use but please note that guests will need to bring own cot bedding.

The space
The fabulous open-plan living area is home to one of the best sea and beach views in the area.  Decorated with local art, relax in comfort whilst enjoying some of the best of Devon’s scenery.  Kick back and watch the tide roll in.  The kitchen comprises of all the essentials to make a home away from home.  Fitted with a fridge, single oven with induction hob, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine, this kitchen will ensure you start your day right! A washing machine and freezer can be found in the built-in cupboard under the stairs.  The kitchen will be supplied with t-towels and a sundry pack.

The cottage has two well-proportioned bedrooms.  The master is located on the ground floor and comprises of a built-in double wardrobe and corner seat.  The second bedroom is upstairs, fitted with two single beds.  High-quality bed linen and towels are provided at this beautiful holiday cottage in the South Hams.

The bathroom is located on the ground floor, fitted with a well-sized shower.  There is also a separate toilet room upstairs.  A starter supply of toilet rolls, and hand soap will be available in the bathrooms.

At the front of the property, you will find a small patio area that is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the sea air at this holiday cottage in the South Hams.

Boathouse Cottage is located halfway between the nearby towns of Kingsbridge and Dartmouth.

Overlooking Torcross Beach, this cottage finds itself on the South West Coast Path. Explore the coastline on foot in either direction, towards Blackpool Sands or Start Point Lighthouse. The views are spectacular with many great pubs and restaurants along the way to enjoy.

Within walking distance of the cottage, you will find a local shop, and a great selection of pubs and eateries. For a big supermarket, head into the local towns of Kingsbridge or Dartmouth.

The area is home to its own unique World War Two history. Make sure to check out the Sherman Tank located in the beach car park and learn the moving story of what took place here in 1943.

Torcross Beach is one of the UK’s dog friendly beaches, so make sure to bring your pooch along for the holiday! It is the perfect place to relax, swim, walk or paddleboard.

On top of being a popular beach to both visitors and locals alike, it plays an important part in the survival of some of the UK’s rarest flora and fauna. Head to Slapton Ley Field Centre to learn about the local wildlife.

I found the property more spacious than I was expecting and so plenty of room for 4 of you, we did find it a little challenging with our youngest daughter wanting to go up and down the stairs constantly which is something to bear in mind if you have very young children, but that wouldn’t stop us returning with the kids.
The parking is great and the kitchen well equipped and you are right on the beach, you fall asleep and wake up with the sound of the waves, idyllic!
We would definitely recommend and would love to return for another visit!"

Parking:
The property has no parking on site; however, there is free parking located 20 yards from the property (subject to availability).  There are also plenty of parking spaces located along the road and within the beach car park, controlled by the Pay by Phone App.  You can pull up to unload in front of the property.

Pets:
We welcome well behaved dogs who want to come and enjoy the beach all year long. We do ask that you are respectful and clear up any mess and refrain from allowing them to use the furniture. There are towels and blankets in a box above the washing machine under the stairs for your use.

Rental Conditions:
Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form and sign & agree to our rental conditions.

Woodpecker Cottage is a delightful little hideaway, close to the village of Stokenham and set deep in Devon countryside up a narrow wooded lane, bordered by fields and farmland. The village, a 7 minute walk away, has two excellent pubs, both well known for good food, a thriving church, a farm shop and the wonderful shingle beach of Slapton Sands at Torcross a mile further on.

The lane is bordered by bluebell woods, that are available to explore and a large pond in an adjacent field provides an opportunity to watch the local wildlife.
