One of two beautifully renovated Coastguard Cottages completed in July 2017 to a high standard. Situated within a stones throw of Southbourne Beach with panoramic sea views from all bedrooms.

Each Cottage has 2 double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has either a king size bed or twin beds, stunning sea and garden views and en-suite shower room.

Bedroom 2 is on the 2nd floor with double bed and stunning panoramic views from Old Harry Rocks to The Needles & Isle of Wright.

There is also a family bathroom with overhead shower.

Downstairs there is a large open plan living area, with large sofabed, dining for 6 and fully integrated kitchen with, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven/hob, microwave & toaster. There is also a utility area with washer/dryer.

The front of the property has beautifully designed gardens which are now fully enclosed, decking with seating, a hot tub and off road parking. The rear of the Cottage has another decked area which catches the evening sun, along with BBQ area, bike storage etc.

The Cottages are a short walk to Hengistbury Head with its visitors centre and land train to Mudeford Spit, a lovely day out for the family. Historic Christchurch is very close by with its Ancient Priory, Castle, river walks, Quay with Quamps Splash Park for the little ones (free), boat & ferry rides and abundance of restaurants, bars & shops.

Southbourne is a short walk away with shops, supermarkets, restaurants & bars. Also we have The New Forest 10 minutes away with its beautiful villages, county pubs, New Forest Ponies and wild donkeys.

Crackerjack (Hut 161) is our much-loved family beach hut on Mudeford Spit. It is in an amazingly secluded spot away from the main crowds - towards the end of the spit. It faces out towards the sea side of the spit, where you can walk a few steps over a dune onto a beautiful white sand beach with clear blue water for a swim.

The hut also has wonderful harbour views, to watch the impressive boats within Christchurch Harbour. Our hut is perfect for a family or couple to stay in and you are welcome to bring your well-behaved dogs with you (2 max), to enjoy the beach as well!

This is very much a glamping experience! The beds are comfortable with three single mattresses on the mezzanine level and a small pull-out double downstairs (our family of 5 sleep here comfortably). There is a gas hob and oven, solar powered fridge, and 12 volt point for phone charging. In true camping style there is no running water, but a water point a couple of steps away to fill up jugs for drinking water or kettles for drinks or to wash up with. There is a sink in the hut. The toilet block is a few steps away and a shower block (accessed with a key for hut residents only) around 100m away.

We provide duvets and pillows for you to use. Please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bags and your own towels. We professionally clean the hut each month and have a 'self clean on leaving policy' so we ask our guests to clean the hut when they leave to the standard that they would like to find it in. If a little sand worries you or the possibility of having to re-wash a saucepan or plate/mug, then a beach hut glamping experience is not for you. We do leave cleaning products under the sink and there is a broom and dustpan and brush.

There is an outdoor picnic bench and outdoor lounge chairs to relax on provided with the hut. There is also a table and chairs within the hut.

The spit is a unique peaceful environment, a wonderful opportunity to really get away from it all!! Sorry, the hut isn't a place for stag / hen parties and the sandbank has a strict no noise policy after 10pm along the beach.

How to access the hut:

This can be a real mission (which is part of the fun), but once you get there it is totally worth it.
Cars are not permitted onto Mudeford Spit but for the last part of your journey there are several options: --

Park at Mudeford Quay car park (BH23 4AB, offers daily and weekly rates) then get the Mudeford Ferry over to the spit. The hut is a couple of minutes walk away.
Please note that the Mudeford Ferry sailing times vary and can be found on their own website.

Park at Hengistbury Head car park (BH6 4EL), you can then walk or cycle approximately 1 mile on a flat path through a nature reserve.

There is also the option of the land train from the head car park, or booking the land rover to take down your luggage.

Things to do:

Simple pleasures really feature highly!! A cup of tea or glass of wine on the beach is a must! Our children love playing around in the dunes, swimming in the sea, crabbing and fishing off the end of the spit, as well as flying kites.

Or hire a Beryl bike, from the spit to cycle around, or walk up to Hengistbury head to admire the amazing view.

Lots of water sports opportunities:

Shoresports is based near Mudeford Quay. You can rent SUP boards, kayaks, dinghies, windsurfers, and they offer excellent lessons (our children loved them).

Fishing trips from Mudeford Quay. Predator boats offer this.

Eating options:

There are several options: at the hut there is a hob and oven and we also provide a charcoal BBQ (please bring own charcoal) and clean the BBQ after using.

The Beach House Café offers lots of takeaway options (pizza, seafood and pasties, etc), alcohol and ice creams. They also have a small shop which sells milk, bread, buckets and spades, etc. If you are coming for a few days though, I would really recommend you bring food supplies with you.

There are plenty of options over on Mudeford Quay - take away fish and chips, pub, café and the Noisy Lobster.

- "The apartment was very modern and clean. It had everything you'd need for a holiday let. It was in the centre so close to everything. I didn't like that the apartment bedrooms were above a shopping centre entrance. Some homeless people slept there at night and were very noisy. We couldn't have the windows open because of the noise. A fan would have been helpful in both of the bedrooms.The entrance to the apartment was at the back of the property, so if you came back in the dark, it was a little scary, especially with there being rats being about at the refuge cage!It was difficult to pack the car yesterday at the back of the property as the footpath was flooded as it had been raining. It was at least 3" deep. We had very wet feet after packing the car!"

Located in a very popular area of Westcliff with close proximity to sandy, Blue Flag beaches and Bournemouth Town Centre. The ground floor apartment boasts large, light and airy rooms with modern furnishings throughout. The grand living and dining area opens out onto the large private garden with patio area, perfect for bbqs on long summer evenings. The spacious kitchen is well equipped for all your culinary needs including a breakfast dining area. The apartment can accommodate up to 6 persons offering a large, king master bedroom complete with en-suite shower and WC, a large guest double with garden views and a spacious twin bedroom. All of which boast plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. Off road parking is available for one car and on road parking is unrestricted. Complimentary WIFI and Sky TV. x1 cot and x1 highchair stored at the property, additional available at a surcharge. One of three apartments within one house, if you have two family groups that need accommodation to sleep up to 16 persons, please also look at property Pippin House A (first floor apartment) and Pipping House B (second floor apartment) and add to your booking form if required.

- "Good location for the beach which was our main priority as one family member pregnant. The house was large and spacious with a lovely garden. Parking can be tight but just had to be careful. The single bed room smelt a little damp and overall the bedding was not as soft or quiet as would have liked. If you are going to be cooking note that there is no extractor fan in the kitchen. The management company were great as allowed us to check in earlier as was not occupied great customer service. Would stay again, the house does need upkeep and maintenance in all areas to stop it falling into disrepair."
