Relax and take a breath before or after your adventures through Fiordland.
A cozy caravan that has been rennovated and turned into a bright cute bedroom. Everything has been made by Nigel. A few steps outside take you into the garage, where you find the hallway with a basic kitchenette. The new bathroom is at the end of the hallway. It has also been rennovated by Nigel.
The space
The caravan has an overall wooden look to give it a warm, cozy and spacious feel. You can have privacy by blocking windows with rollerblinds. The bed with an electric blanket and a portable heater on the floor will keep you warm during the night. Stargazing pretty much straight from bed is definitely a bonus. The new bathroom will make you want to spend some time on the toilet :)
Guest access
During your stay you have access to the front of the section (fully fenced) with caravan and garage. The caravan will be your sleeping, dining and indoor seating area. In front of the caravan is a table with chairs and a sturdy bench to sit or lay on. You can use the BBQ (right outside of the caravan with an outdoor bench and sink, everything you need can be found underneath the BBQ.
In the hallway inside the garage you have access to a basic kitchenette with essentials including a fridge with a mall freezer compartment, a kettle, toaster and a microwave. A blender to make yourself a yummy smoothie is available too. NO actual cooking possible!

Please note there are TWO young boys under the age of 6 living here. We always try and be as quiet as possible and apologize for any noise.
The bathroom is for multi use. This means if you wish to wash dishes during your stay you can do this in the bathroom as this is the only space with access to hot water. A foldable tub along with other essentials is available and all ready inside the bathroom.
You can also use the outside sink, there is only cold water available.
Before you consider booking please remember this is a caravan and we do not recommend this for guests who are looking for a hotel experience. In saying that, the height of the caravan door is naturally lower than a normal door. Please be aware of this if you are a taller person.
As we utilize the rest of the garage (behind the guest access area) as our personal food storage we may be going in and out of it during your stay.

Aunty Helen is nestled privately behind Te Anau Lodge (a former Convent built in 1936). She's fully self-contained, and offered 2 bedrooms upstairs. Suitable for two couples, or a small family. There are 2 outdoor baths, and a wood burner. Get cosy and settle into this rustic space.
The space
Aunty Helen is fully self-contained with an inside shower and toilet, 2 outdoor claw baths tubs and a picnic table which is ideal for outdoor dining. The bedrooms both have queen beds with a swinging divider between.
Guest access
Aunty Helens guests have access to the menagerie-like gardens and other outdoor amenities - including giant chess, and table tennis in the conservatory!) on the Te Anau Lodge property.
Other things to note
The small town of Te Anau serves as an excellent starting point for adventures and excursions into the world-famous Fiordland National Park. We are happy to provide information, recommendations, and bookings for activities of all sorts, from marvelous flights and cruises to dinner reservations at the finest restaurants in town.
