2 year old home situated on a quiet cul de sac, comes complete with playground for the kids (swing/slide,trampoline and sandpit) 2 lounges with smart tv's ideal for leaving the kids to watch a movie while the adults enjoy a wine! Unlimited wifi. (The te anau basin does have internet troubles from time to time especially in adverse weather conditions, but this usually isn't much of an issue) The property also boasts a fully fenced and secure back yard with a large patio and bbq. 2 commercial sized heat pumps 1 in the lounge and 1 in the hallway, keep you warm and cosy. The 4 bedrooms all contain queen beds with 1 room also containing single bunks. Linen and towels are included in your stay but will be placed on the beds for you to make up. Large spacious kitchen with everything you need including basic pantry staples and pod coffee maker. 8 seater dining table great for the whole family. Also a Large French door fridge with filtered water and ice.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home and are welcome to take a stroll to the end of the lane, where you can find a lovely lake, perfect for small picnics. If there is no stock in the front paddock where the tiny house is situated, they are welcome to go for a walk in the paddock.

During your stay, we advise guests to respect the privacy of the farmland that borders the lane on both sides and other neighbouring residences down the lane.

A special reminder to guests that the garden is under development and are not permitted to access the garden or land host's private residence unless there is an emergency.

Guest Advisory: To maintain the quality and cleanliness of our linens and ensure a respectful environment for all guests, we are committed to providing high-quality linen. However, excessive staining from makeup, food, and other substances can lead to damage.

By car:

- Nearest City Invercargill 2 hours and 154.5 km, or if they fly into Queenstown 2 hrs 5 mins drive 171.5 km from our property to the nearest town 6 mins drive 4.4 km all reachable by 2WD recommended in winter to hire a 4WD.

By public transport:

- Guests can catch a bus from Queenstown on Tracknet to Te Anau. There is no service from Invercargill to Te Anau. However, we recommend to guests that it'd better to fly into Queenstown. If guests are coming by bus, we can arrange to pick them up from the bus depo in town. Please contact us 24 hrs before arrival so we can make the necessary arrangements.

The guest suite is a modern studio unit with off-street guest parking, and a private patio with beautiful views of the Kepler and Murchison mountain ranges.

Heating/Air-conditioning will ensure you have a comfortable stay no matter the weather. Surf the internet with unlimited fibre WiFi, or enjoy a Netflix programme on the TV, which can be adjusted for viewing from either the comfort of the queen bed or the cosy 2-seater sofa.

The kitchenette has an espresso machine, kettle, toaster, microwave/grill oven, and small fridge for preparing simple meals. A selection of teas, coffee capsules, sugar, milk, and biscuits are provided. The kitchenette is well stocked with dishware, cutlery, and essential cooking utensils. There is also a dining table for eating.

Our house is perfectly set up for travellers with young kids, having very large back yard to run around and play in, heaps of toys, games and books, kids kitchenware and baby cot available on request.

If you are a couple or solo traveller exploring New Zealand, you will find our place ideally suited with plenty of storage; and shared spaces if you are feeling sociable and private spaces for personal down-time.

During your stay
We work at various different times so will be in and out of the house leaving plenty of quiet time for you to relax and enjoy the space.

There may be times when I will not be in Te Anau but my mama Gina will be here. Her English is a bit limited but she's the sweetest person and you will feel very welcome.

Takahe's Nest is an ultra-cute tiny house located on it's own full size section, with a snug open plan living space offering most of the comforts of home, including complimentary Wi-Fi and Bose sound system with aux.

If you like to take a nap during the day there are roll down blinds on every window including the sliding front door for privacy.

The deck is aligned to give you an idyllic spot to watch the sunrise against the breath-taking mountain back drop; the perfect spot to enjoy a hot drink or refreshment to celebrate your Fiordland holiday.

The whole property is yours to enjoy when you are not exploring Fiordland's feature attractions.

Other things to note
There is just a one off cleaning fee regardless of the length of your stay, and no minimum length of stay.

Owing to the shortage of available staff in the district, we block Sunday check-ins so our cleaner is guaranteed that day off. If you wish to book the 'Nest over the weekend (Saturday night and Sunday night) you can do that.

An automatic clothes washing machine is installed in the kitchenette area and a clothesline and pegs are available outside. For faster drying a laundromat is situated in town.

Infants and young children - due to a number of safety issues ( the low deck has no guard rail and the land is not fenced plus a number of small items inside may pose a choking hazard) we do not consider it suitable for infants and young children.

The space
Our house is perfectly set up for travelers with young kids, having very large back yard to run around and play in, heaps of toys, games and books, kids kitchenware and baby cot available on request.

If you are a couple or solo traveller exploring New Zealand, you will find our place ideally suited with plenty of storage; and shared spaces if you are feeling sociable and private spaces for personal down-time.

During your stay
We work at various different times so will be in and out of the house leaving plenty of quiet time for you to relax and enjoy the space.

There may be times when I will not be in Te Anau but my mama Gina will be here. Her English is a bit limited but she's the sweetest person and you will feel very welcome.

The space
This room is not suitable for infants or children. The room will consist of sliding door access from out side, your room is separated and locked from the main house for your privacy and ours. There is NO indoor shared spaces, you are welcome to use the picnic table outside. You also will have your own private shower and toilet ensuite. The room has a contemporary design and warm feel. Best suited for short stays only.

BEDROOM 1: queen sized bed. Completely private. En-suite bathroom. Outdoor access. we also supply sheets, towels, and all bedding. NO COOKING. NO MICROWAVE. NO SHARED SPACES. There is a fridge in the room with tea/coffee making facilities, and a toaster.

we also opperate a small home hair salon between the hours of 9am-8pm so some noise to be expected from this but it very minimal. You are welcome to use and share the front garden and picnic table.

Guest access
Private access in and out of room, free street parking, please do not park in the driveway.

Please note check is from 3pm, no early check ins, your room will have the key in the door or on the table for self check in anytime from 3pm

We are on site at the property, so we are available if you are needing any assistance, however we do value our privacy and do our best to create a private space for our guests also

Sorry houae is not suitable for under 5 year olds and we have no cot baby bed. 15 year old house situated in council reserve. Main room with a double bed is a very sunny room with views up to Luxmore Peak on the Kepler track. Second room with two king single beds has views of back garden. A private bathroom is included. Happy to give advice on local tips to make the most of your time in Te Anau and Fiordland National Park.

Welcome to our Lakewood Cabins, set in park like grounds, perfect for couples, friends or singles who like a little extra room to themselves, with a queen bed in each. Ultra sweet gypsy caravan from 1971 that toured the country with circus artists who have now retired and sold it on to me. Everything is tiny, so it is a little thinner than a double bed (although there is also a single bunk underneath) (though 2m in length) and the shower is ok for anyone up to 1m75, after that you need to bend. So ideal for hobbits and smaller people, fun for the rest. Sprawling gardens adjacent.

In addition to the Gypsy Gem itself, guests have access to the menagerie-like gardens and other outdoor amenities (including giant chess!) on the Te Anau Lodge property.
