High Oak House is a character, terraced, 300 year old house… It contains a self-catering, second-floor apartment situated in central Ashburton – a stone’s throw away from cafes, bars, boutiques and a good range of local shops, with Dartmoor on the doorstep…

The accommodation is newly appointed, and represents a fusion of ancient and modern – with exposed beams and a thoroughly modern wet room, a roll top bath up on the open-plan mezzanine sleeping platform, and all the conveniences of elegant, comfortable living down below.

The apartment sleeps 5 : a double bedroom, with views of the hills and church spire from the window seat, and an en-suite wet room… with a spare pull out single mattress and bedding provided for a 5th guest. A unique converted Devon bank barn full of character and charm. Secluded and spacious accommodation surrounded by a beautiful landscaped garden and countryside views. The property is sandwiched between Dartmoor National Park to the west and the stunning Devon coastline to the east. An ideal spot to get away from the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in nature.

Due to its rural location, a car is essential and there is free parking for two cars onsite.

Please note that due to the property layout, we cannot accept children under ten years of age.

Reverse level accommodation. The ground floor consists of a large entrance hall, one en suite master double bedroom, a second double bedroom and a twin bedroom with two single beds, and a main bathroom. There is a single step into each of the rooms. There is a wooden staircase to the first floor which is an open plan living space with the living room at one end and the kitchen and dining area at the other. For those that come without a vehicle, the nearest train station is in Totnes which is around a 20 minute drive away. Taxis are available in Totnes and there are fairly frequent bus routes traversing the local area.

Originally the stable building to the main house, the Annexe has been recently refurbished to a high specification, with modern furniture, fixtures and fittings throughout. All the rooms are generous and finished to a high standard

The kitchen-dining room is fully equipped to a high specification, including a Nespresso coffee maker, with a view of the garden, Ashburton and the Moors beyond.
On the first floor, both bedrooms are generously proportioned with high, pitched ceilings, exposing the original roof beams and character of the building. The two bedrooms both have en-suite facilities - Bedroom 1 a bath/ shower and Bedroom 2 a high powered shower only. Both have their own WC. The double beds have high quality, natural mattresses with feather down duvets and pillows.
Although only a few steps to the centre of Ashburton, the Annexe feels secluded and private.
The Annexe sits in the grounds of a stone walled garden, with a private driveway from the street, affording ample and secure off street parking for guests.
