About 'Sandy Corner'

The name comes from the location. The cottage sits right on the corner where the lake meets the beach and is positioned to look towards the Terrigal headland.The cottage has just finished a major renovation and now has a huge glass stack-a-door that opens the whole front of the cottage towards the beach and lake.

The Lounge / Kitchen Area:

There is an L-Shape lounge (also converts to a bed) and a large smart TV for watching movies, sport or afternoon reality TV. The TV is a smart TV so guests can sign into their Netflix or Stan accounts to stream movies or content using the high speed internet onsite. For those staying in the cooler months there is a gas log fireplace to create warmth and ambiance at the press of a button. The kitchen is basic but has all the functionality to do home cooking. There is an induction cook-top, portable bench oven, microwave, Nespresso Machine, (With unlimited pods) fridge and all cooking utensils. Louver windows allow the sea breeze and sounds of the ocean into the cottage making a tranquil and ambient setting.

The Main Bedroom:

Fitted out with a king size bed with luxurious pillow-top mattress, premium Sheridan linen and lots of pillows. The king size bed can also be separated into two king single beds if required. All linen is provided & included in your stay so just turn up! There is also a flat screen TV in the bedroom along with lamps and Bose mini-system. The bedroom has bi-fold doors that open up towards the beach and lake or can be left closed for privacy.

The Bathroom:

This has been renovated recently and consists of a shower, toilet, basin and all towels / soaps, shampoo's etc. It;s neat, tidy, clean and functional.

The Outdoor Area:

The front of the cottage has a small yard with beautifully kept gardens, lush green grass and a white picket fence. There are two kayaks on site which can be used by guests on request. BBQ and utensils are on site for those summer afternoon fun with family or friends.

Our terrific beach house is very popular, most of our guests return. We encourage family & pet stays. The house faces north and is on the water's edge, the shops & park are only are 50m away. The yard is enormous & flat & partly fenced to enclose your dogs. All you need for a great stay.

Weekend Travel SMH reviewed our house, 'the house has a wonderful setting overlooking both the lagoon & the thundering surf..........Flanked by giant pines front and back, the simple rectangular home has a lounge area. The polished floor boards, covered with rugs, flow through into a central sitting area beside the wood burner. The kitchen is stocked with every conceivable pot, pan & utensil, plus its own bar fridge..
There are two bedrooms, one with the Queen bed and the other with a bunks and single bed...
The bright bathroom is spacious with bath/shower and handrail. The washing machine and dryer tucked are inside a cupboard.'

A gas 4 burner BBQ is on the deck. And the house is surprisingly quiet despite its central position.

The house is AIRCONDITIONED.

DOGS are WELCOME. Fenced dog run 15m x 30m.

You'll love the position, close to shops and beach and it is wonderful to let the kids & dogs run around in full view from the deck.

You can even take in a movie at the heritage Avoca Beach Picture Theatre.

Other activities in Avoca Beach include stand up paddle boarding, paddle boat hire in the lake, tennis court hire, surfing & surfing lessons, bush walking, beach and also lake fishing. Every fourth Sunday of the month Avoca Beachside Markets are held from 9am – 2pm at Heazlett Park Foreshore with a range of pop up stalls, markets and food stores. Our only gripes were the difficult car access to the tiny garage, and the lack of air con given that the windows were locked a maximum 10cm open which left the bedrooms stuffy. The Dyson fans didn’t quite cut it during the heat of summer. All up a great unit in a great location."

- "The property was not too bad. A few things were a bit dirty such as sand on seats, the bbq was dirty with leftover sauce & bits on it and the cushions smell very musty. The pool also went green with a couple of days to go which was disappointing as my young girls would have loved to use it. - "This unit is absolute beach front. An older style solid block with 2 bedrooms and full bathroom. Kitchen has an electric cooktop and oven plus microwave. Television reception is terrible so bring your own streaming accounts to use on the smart TV. Comfortable beds. It is comfortable and met our needs nicely but not modern and had been closed up before our stay as it was musty and dank. We would definitely stay again though!"

A 5 minute flat stroll through the park to the sand, you're so close you can hear the ocean.

Luxury fittings, split level house like proportions and walk to restaurants, cafes and the beach easily.

The space
Our favourite place to relax after a day at the beach is on the sofa. Sit here and take in the soaring ceilings, timber beams and the sunlight streaming through the oversized skylight. Magic.

There are three areas where you can relax and enjoy the space together.

The living room with large TV (all the streaming platforms you can log into) opening onto a small rear balcony. Then the dining and kitchen area - large enough to have the family around the table or the perfect spot to do some remote work from. This area opens onto the large terrace style balcony with BBQ, dining table and servery from the kitchen.

Bedroom 1 has one Queen bed, air-conditioning, wardrobe and two large bedside tables suitable for packing away your belongings too. Gorgeous designer fabrics and custom made furnishings. Curl up with a book - there's plenty to choose from.

Bedroom 2 can be presented two ways. Two single beds or one king bed. Your choice - please let me know at booking. Again, custom made furnishings and fun fabrics ensure you'll love spending the night here. Air-conditioning and wardrobe too.

Bathroom 1 has a large shower, vanity and designer features. It includes the Euro' laundry behind the cupboard doors.

Bathroom 2 is on the entry level to the apartment - there are two bathrooms downstairs and the one on the right is for your use. Shower, vanity and toilet.

Other things to note
Stone's Throw is, as the name suggests, a mere stone's throw from beautiful Avoca Beach. Our favourite day would go something like this..... up for a walk to Winney Bay and back for coffee at The Kiosk under the Surf Club. Sit on the stone wall and watch the world go by.

Wander back up to Stone's Throw, maybe another coffee from the Nespresso machine and let's think about the beach.

We will while the remainder of the day away on the beach.... lunch from The Kiosk or Avoca Sands cafe. If we feel like donning some clothes we'll sit at The Point Cafe and enjoy a vino over a longer lunch with friends.

Enjoy a sundowner at the Surf Club after you've washed the salt off back at Stone's Throw and then there are a myriad of restaurants you can choose all within walking distance of your bougie accommodation.
