- "The host Maria was so sweet and kind! We could get breakfast at any time since the kitchen-room was open 24/7. The hotel room was quite big but the bed was hard and it was a very bad smell from the drain inside the shower. The window in the bathroom does not lead outside, it opens inwards towards the reception inside the house. The window inside the bedroom led to a staircase. First of all, we have appreciated the owner's help in setting up the rooms (bed configuration) and he has provided a lot of information on the setup. Unlike other places where we have been, he was very proactive in communicating with us upfront. Upon arrival, he waited for us at a crossroad, despite the late hour and drove us to the villa. We found there a good welcome package that was very helpful until we did the shopping the next day. The owner was very helpful in providing orientation and advice; he made some good recommendations in regard to places to see, how to park, safety advice and many others. He has even helped us during our stay with reservations at restaurants, which turned out to be excellent choices. Our hosts Anna and Giancarlo were very welcoming and there was a bottle of the local red wine waiting for us which was very welcome. The villa itself was all we could have wished for. Nowhere else to hang as main reception area closed at 1930so confined to pokey room or outside in cold. We were offered a bigger better room at an extra 20e a night on check in which came over as ours was bit rubbish! -which it was ! It was a 15 min drive to Avola on a dodgy road. Little to see in Avola - sea front area was ok but little there due to time of year. Room was small with fridge that hummed heavily so had to switch off. Bed was uncomfortable for two with cheap memory foam mattress that had clearly lost its memory due to the high number of folk who’d slept on it. Pool area good. generally site looked jaded and tired. Wouldn’t hurt to have a few more signs to direct to location. Buffet breakfast okay. Stayed 2 nights. Location good for Noto / Modica/ Ragusa. It is nice to turn up at Villa where you don't have to go out and buy dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, charcoal, firelighters etc. Our host Marco was extremely helpful and even arranged for a lift to Syracuse when we had a problem with our hire car. The only downside was the lack of nearby restaurants, a hire car is essential. There is one restaurant 500m away and one 5 minute drive, otherwise it's self catering or drive to either Noto or Avola. The restaurant 5 min drive away is based on a small farm where you can also by home grown produce and preserves and the food is typical Sicilian."
