- "We liked the hotel and choose it for it's size of the rooms which are hard t find in the area. Proximity from here to Modica/Ragusa was also great and why we picked it. Breakfast was nice since there arent many options very close but there was a charge. Staff was very friendly and helpful but some didnt speak English very well so patience is key or better to know some Italian! We booked their largest room which was a nice size but the bathroom was very small even by Italian standards. Furniture was a bit old/musty and we did find a couple of small bugs but they were dead. There is a bit of street noise but nothing like being in side a city. The condo is right on the street. If the room had updated furniture and a slight remodel this could be a 5 star place. "

The property is really clean and comfortable and Giorgio communicates really well.He is very proud of fresh Sicilian food and generously provided us with supplies and treats that lasted all week. We spent 8 days at Villa Sara and another 4 days at a guest house in Noto. We explored the stunning baroque towns, nature reserves (lots of flamingos) and the wonderful gorges inland. The spring weather was excellent for walking. There is lots of helpful information in the accomodation and Giorgio lives nearby so is easily able to deal with any issues that arise. The restorations were done by a master stone mason to combine all the charm of a heritage home with the open concept of a contemporary lifestyle and is a stunning blend of old and new: original stone walls combined with ceramic floors. There is also a five - piece bathroom with tub and laundry area with a washer and dryer. An outdoor terrace, complete with outdoor seating for four, overlooks Modica’s historic baroque centre where one can savour the ambiance along with a glass of wine or an early morning coffee. The house itself is located in the Centro Storico, a charming residential neighborhood just minutes away from Modica’s cafes, restaurants and shops. Being within a closed courtyard adds an extra security feature. Free parking is available nearby, approximately 3-4 walk minutes away from Casa Niria. Please note approximately 2 minutes of the walk would be up hill, (which some guests may consider a fairly steep incline, but others not). For stays of ten days or longer it is possible for Giorgio, the property manager to obtain a permit from the local Commune, which will allow you to park in the street 1-2 minutes walk from Casa Niria (subject to space). Giorgio will need your rental car documents on arrival and it can take 2-3 days to obtain the permit.

About Modica - “With its steeply stacked centre and spectacular baroque cathedrals, Modica is one of Southern Sicily’s most atmospheric towns” (ref. Lonely Planet). Modica is a vibrant community with interesting shops, friendly people and breathtaking vistas. The town is spread over the sides of two valleys where two river torrents merged into a V shaped rocky gorge. During medieval times many of the homes were carved from sandstone into caves (grottos) overlooking the torrents. These torrents are now running underground and the main street, Corso Umberto 1, runs along the old river bed. The Villa Space

As you enter the private parking area, you are greeted by the sight of characteristic stone pillars flanking a traditional gate. Walking through to the main entrance, you are welcomed into a spacious living room area which connects to a large, well-equipped, kitchen with dining area where the high ceiling is adorned with decorated stuccos, typical of Sicilian decor.

There are five elegantly appointed bedrooms each with air-condition and central heating, 2 rooms with king-sized beds and 3 rooms with 2 single beds each which can easily be joined together upon request, all with high quality mattresses. The bedrooms are large, with private baths, and an enclosed glass veranda offers panoramic views of the valley below. The rooms are designed for utmost comfort and privacy.

The spacious outdoor grounds are dotted with fruit trees, grape vines, and blackberry brambles. As well as the above mentioned pool and jacuzzi, next to the jacuzzi there is a Zen area with ancient stone walls, nestled into the grounds, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity.

- "I am going to find it difficult to actually give George's house the justice it deserves - it is extremely special. My family and I have stayed in many houses in Portugal, Greece and Italy and this was the most impressive for sure. There are just so many great things about it.. Here are some highlights: The swimming pool - perfect size with lots of space for lounging, the gardens - beautiful plants and trees with wonderful fruits and vegetables to eat, the tennis court - very well kept and rackets and balls available, the farmyard - lots of cute animals for the kids and the beds - all very comfortable and rooms very nice. My personal favourite part of the house is the outdoor area for eating, equipped with a BBQ and a wonderful view of Modica - we had some great and late nights there! This house is fabulous for kids and adults alike. Now a word on Modica itself, because it is a fantastic town. This was our second trip there and I was shocked when I opened the Sicily Lonely Planet and saw Modica wasn't one of their '14 highlights of Sicily'. Big mistake guys. But you know what maybe that's a good thing because Modica may stay off the tourist trail! Modica is a foodie's dream. I have had the best pasta, pizza, ice cream and chocolate of my life there. The chocolate is incomparable to anything you will taste in Europe. We went to some wonderful restaurants and bars. We did the train tour of the town which was a big hit with the kids. We wandered the incredibly narrow streets of Modica Allta which is like somewhere stuck in time - in a very charming way. I highly recommend checking out Goccia cocktail bar where we had an amazing night! Finally a word for our hosts, George and Antonella. We have never felt so looked after. From the first moment to the last, they did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. We arrived to a home cooked meal, they were always there for any questions we had and they gave us some great recommendations for things to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you. An incredible view on the historical center of Modica, the Baroque town in the south eastern part of Sicily declared World Heritage by Unesco for its Churches and beauties.

Vico Muccio is in a central position, a few minutes from the main cultural attractions, bars, shops and local restaurants. The house is nicely located in a silent alley of the old town with plenty of light.

The house has recently been restructured with local raw materials and by maintaining the local building traditions. This has made it comfortable and practical, with a well equipped kitchen that opens up on a delightful terrace, a bedroom and a spacious and warm living room where the sofa and armchair can become beds.
