- "Great location 5min drive to beach. My family really enjoyed the large landscape of nature at The Ashwood. We brought food in coolers and used the complimentary bbq. Large tables to sit family to eat outside. The fridge in the room was spacious and cold. The pool is ideal for winter but the sauna is great! The fire is nice you can purchase bag of wood for $10. We brought s’mores. Bring bug spray to more enjoy at night. The nature trail was lovely. We enjoyed the text msg communications. Would stay again for sure. Bring all your summer supplies and would recommend 2day stay or more to enjoy the weather in summer. "

The Vader Cottage is a chalet style winterized cottage nestled on a very private treed lot in the Village of Bayfield. Located within walking distance of the historic Bayfield shopping district and Lake Huron beaches, fine dining, flea markets and beautiful sunsets are all readily available. The cottage is located within easy walking distance of all the Village attractions and is situated on a dead-end residential street near the south end of town. Well appointed with three bedrooms and recently renovated kitchen and baths, the cottage is also equipped with a natural gas barbecue, washer/dryer, wifi internet access and a fire pit (wood provided). The open concept recreation room with vaulted ceilings has a gas fireplace, TV and DVD player. The kitchen is fully stocked with fridge, microwave, gas stove, Keurig coffee maker and all the necessities needed to prepare your meals at home. Central air conditioning will keep you cool during the hot summer months. The large front deck comes equipped with a full size picnic table and plenty of chairs for relaxing and enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Parking is available for three vehicles in the drive. A wagon and other children's accessories are available (high chair) upon request as well as board games, videos, books and puzzles. The beach is a short 10 minute walk from the cottage as are other Bayfield Village amenities such as award-winning restaurants, children's playground and splash pad in Clan Gregor Square, and numerous gift shops to satisfy all your shopping needs. The cottage water supply is provided by the Municipality and is the same water source as the City of London. Bayfield is trying to reduce it's use of bottled water so be assured that the water supply is safe.
Visit the historic Bayfield downtown shopping district to enjoy fine dining at one of our award winning restaurants or browse the many gift shops that grace the downtown. Located only 10 minutes from the cottage, the Village also boasts a flea market on Sundays, a grocery store, LCBO and harbour with boat launch. At least 5 golf courses are located within a 15 minute drive of the cottage or, if golfing is not your thing, try your hand at fishing in either the Bayfield or Maitland Rivers.

Lake access is steps away on Tuyll street. The lakebed can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Generally you will find sand 3ft out. It's fun to go stone collecting - Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all.

A hot tub to help unwind at night. A quiet neighbourhood that is less than a 5 minute walk to downtown stores and restaurants. A 10 minute walk to the lake at Pioneer Park. A fully equipped kitchen to make breakfast easy in the morning. It had many more amenities like washer and dryer as well. This is a perfect spot for a holiday break to explore Bayfield and Huron county. We will be back!"

Hello. Our beautiful 4 bedroom lakefront cottage is located on Lake Huron. It is 5 mins north of Bayfield, and 15 mins south of Goderich. Located at the end of a street, this desirable lot features views of Huron that cannot be beat. With a newly renovated kitchen, new flooring in the bedrooms and a complete makeover, this cottage is ready to enjoy. Features unlimited high speed internet and a new 46" television with Amazon Prime and Disney Plus included. Enjoy eating at the dining room table or the patio set overlooking the water. Outside amenities include bicycles (2 adult and 2 kids), a trampoline, swings, a firepit, two picnic tables and various game sets.

Pets will be negotiated on an individual basis. This property is not fenced so pets need to be leashed at all times. Please clean up after your pet (property and beach areas).

We are using a cleaning service for cleaning cottage between rentals.

Please note, this cottage is on the bluffs and dealing with erosion issues. Cottagers must stay back from the edge and respect the inherent danger of a bluff with a drop off. Although the edge must be respected, this scenario gives you the best sunsets Lake Huron can offer, right from the cottage deck.

There is a Municipal beach access 100m down the road so you can walk down to the beach that way. It is a good hill but navigable. Once you are down on the beach, you can walk to the area in front of our cottage, which is privately owned. There is a mixture of sand areas and pebbly areas.

There is a wooden staircase leading down to the ravine for the brave at heart, but this is not owned by us, does not have a handrail, and has the potential for a dangerous fall so use of it is not advised or recommended, especially in the rain!

We have two small bedrooms on the main floor. The tangerine room has a double bed. The master room has a queen. The loft has queen and twin beds and the bunkie has a queen bed. There is a bbq on a pad outside. There is a second refrigerator in the shed if required.

The cottage is on a quiet street on the outskirts of Bayfield. There is a public Lake access for residents in this area

After a beautiful day in cottage country, gather around the firepit for storytelling, marshmallow roasting, and stargazing.

Public Lake access is 5 min walk away in Paul Bunyan campground. The lakebed can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Generally you will find sand 3ft out. It's fun to go stone collecting - Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all.

NOTE: There is ongoing construction at the neighboring house. The work is primarily indoors, but the noise level can vary. There should be no construction taking place on weekends.

Linens are available for $20/per person. This includes Tea Towels, Dishcloths, Sheets & Pillowcases, Bathroom towels, Hand towels and Face cloths. Does not include Beach Towels.

Come visit the beautiful historic town of Bayfield and stay in our very chic family friendly cottage by the lake, affectionally known as the Sugar Shack. Just a one-minute walk to the beach and a short stroll and/or bike ride to the village square where you can enjoy local shops and restaurants. Stay in, cozy up and enjoy family time with some arcade games & vinyl, BBQ on the patio, relax in the hot tub, watch the kids play on the playset or light the campfire and enjoy the starry nights.

When you first arrive you will use your smart key code to enter which is active from 4pm on you check in date to 10am on the day of your check out. You will be greeted with an open concept, living room, kitchen and dining space complete with a large screen TV (w/ Netflix and Disney +), an arcade game, record player and gas fireplace. Down the hall there is a mudroom to hide all the stuff, a powder room, a second access to the back porch and full-size laundry hiding behind a cute barn door. Our main bathroom is clean and modern and has a dual rain / handheld shower head and is enclosed with a sliding glass door. Next, we have the 'Nautical room' with bunch beds, a nook for the kids to chill, and toys and books for them to enjoy. At the end of the hall there is a linen closet with extra towels and blankets if you need them, and some board games... note the Starwars / 80s theme. Then we have the 'Pineapple Room' (Master) with a king size bed and the softest sheets ever, and a desk so you can "work from home" Speaking of, the internet is 50 fiber and it works great. Finally, the 'Fern and Fawn Room' with double bed and Brooklinen sheets (mmm). Head out back, and chill on the deck, where you can grill on the BBQ and sit down to a dining table that seats 6, shaded with a large umbrella, or relax in the hot tub while taking in the colors of the beautiful Lake Huron sunset. The backyard is spacious and well-kept with privacy hedges surrounding it. Towards the back there is a small playground/swing set for the kids and a fire pit. As if that were not enough, we have a beautiful porch to enjoy your morning coffee and watch all the passersby, or peak down the end of the street and see the lake horizon. Take a 1 min walk towards it and get a gorgeous view of the water or take the slightly adventure hike down the 'kind of' steep hill and enjoy the beach firsthand.

- "Wow!!! Being our 1st Vrbo stay for our 29th Wedding Anniversary, Betty was the most Incredible host. Our communications were many, but effortless and extremely quick and helpful. I cannot begin to elaborate on how well maintained this property is, the Magickal properties of this home are incredible and are many (the singing microwave still makes me smile). The location to the beach is wonderful and so immediate, but offers a few options. So tranquil and relaxing, and a bird watchers dream! I cannot say enough good things regarding our host Betty, as she is SO incredible to deal with and it was truly a "home away from home' experience. A graceful spiral staircase invites you to explore the mezzanine, offering a bird's-eye view of the main living space.

The heart of the cottage is undoubtedly the kitchen. Its bright, airy atmosphere and modern appliances make cooking a pleasure. Share meals together at the large dining table or gather around the kitchen island for casual conversation. When you crave solitude, escape to the inviting reading room. Snuggle up with a good book or enjoy a movie night on the Smart TV in this peaceful retreat.

NOTE: Lake access is a short walk on Tuyll street. The lakebed can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Generally you will find sand 3ft out. It's fun to go stone collecting - Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all.

You'll find a huge beach area where the kids can swim/play and you can walk for a long ways. Inside there are 6 bedrooms so everyone can have a bit of privacy. And there is a games room with Ping Pong!

Centrally located -Golf Course is 1 min away and you are 2 min from Bayfield where you must have to visit the old time ice cream shop.

The main floor features a spacious living room where everyone can gather. Cuddle up on the couch for a movie with Grandma, with a Smart TV that includes Netflix for your viewing pleasure. The games room offers a Ping Pong table for added fun.
The newly updated kitchen boasts all new modern appliances, and the dining area provides ample space to enjoy your family treats together.

OUTSIDE
Enjoy games on the huge grassy lot, where you can play yard games or find your favorite spot for those treasured holiday naps. Kids will love playing "Pirates" in the new tent – it's super fun! We've supplied two kayaks and a paddleboard, along with five lifejackets, so you can challenge the kids to a race. At night, share laughter and stories around the campfire.

Take approx. 75 steps down the brand new stairs to a wide expansive beach that we all remember from our childhoods-rare to find with the erosion and high lake levels! You'll easily spend the day on the beach or cooling off in the water.

Bring water shoes to get past the ~20 feet of rock and play in the waves on the huge sandbar. Our kids are 5 and 7 and had a great time. This comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage provides a relaxing vacation getaway (all seasons) with room for a large family, 2 families or group getaway (pets are negotiable). It includes an eat-in kitchen, newly furnished living room and a private backyard with a deck, fire pit and BBQ. Beautiful decor, fine furnishings, classic design, and hardwood floors throughout the home are the hallmarks of this historic home. A large yard, and many trees and tall hedges assure privacy.

Cake At The Lake, Too features a high-ceilinged, super comfortable Great Room, allowing your soul to unwind. The large, well-appointed kitchen makes meal preparation a snap! The spectacular dining room is striking. Sip on a dirty martini with hors d'oeuvres. Crack open a fine bottle of wine to savour with dinner when joined by great friends and family. The dining room exudes positive energy, and cheer. The vintage table entertains a party of 2 (sitting at opposite ends is rather posh, romantic, and quite fun), or a comfy 8. This is the original portion of the historic Turner family home built in 1858. The original hardwood floors are magnificent. If only the walls could talk. The cozy Sitting Room is also a great place to slip into and chill. Tickle your taste buds with a glass of champagne or Courvoisier. After supper, spread out on the wrap around porch, and watch life unfold in warm light. It will be a balm to your soul. Life is good!!

Later on, take a stroll to our historic downtown, just steps away from Cake At The Lake, Too. Beautiful Pioneer Park, with its lakefront location, is another option for a strolling destination. With stair access to the beach, saunter there day or night, to enjoy its stunning Lake Huron views, and spectacular breathtaking sunsets! Both locales await you!

You've now arrived back at Cake At The Lake, Too, extremely happy and content, with not a care in the world! Psst...the backyard is calling. The piece de resistance! THE FIREPIT! You have frolicked at the beach, shopped to get your cardio in, skipped around the corner for an ice cream cone, watched the intoxicating Bayfield sunset, and now it's time to gather around the fire.
