We have had a couple inquiries lately mentioning an ad on Craigslist. We don’t do business through any company other than VRBO. Please don’t book through any site other than this one.

Our large 6 acre retreat is private, yet has convenient access to I-5 and the nearby tulip fields in Mount Vernon, Washington. Three acres are dedicated to the cabin, pond and surrounding grounds, with our house on the upper three acres. A perfect getaway for small families or a romantic weekend. Most of our guests come back annually and have made staying at our cabin a family tradition for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions.

Out of respect for our neighbors, we do not offer the cabin as a venue for parties and we stick to our limit of four people. (small groups of short term visitors are fine) Although some of our guests take advantage of our convenient location to all that Skagit Valley has to offer, many come to the cabin and don't leave until their checkout time!

The grounds are well landscaped and include a turquoise half-acre pond. The pond is strictly available for our VRBO guests; we only use it on those rare days when the cabin is not booked. We have horseshoes and corn hole for an evening of fun, or sit by the fire pit. You can enjoy a refreshing swim on a warm summer day or fishing when the temperatures cool down. We lose fish in the warmer summer months, so we ask our guests NOT to FISH in June, July, and August. If catching a lot of fish is important to you, we suggest you book elsewhere. We never know how many fish are in the pond due to predators, poor fishing techniques, and hot weather. We have purchased a stand up paddle board for guests to use during the warmer months. Finish the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub.

The home is fully furnished for all of your in home needs and is comfortable for up to four guests. The cabin has a Queen bed and double futon in the upstairs spacious master bedroom as well as a queen sized sofa bed in the living room. The set up is good for one couple or small families, but not ideal for two couples.

The only thing you will need to bring is your clothes, a swimsuit, and a steak for the BBQ. We have satellite TV, DVD and wireless internet. (Note: there is no landline phone available.) The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances, including a griddle, coffee maker, coffee beans and grinder, rice cooker, microwave, electric hot pot, slow cooker, and many spices. As far as personal items, we provide a hair dryer, shampoo, body wash and cream rinse, so you don't even need to pack those. A full sized washer and dryer are available at the cabin for your convenience as well. Firewood for the fire pit is also provided.

Come and enjoy our European rustic, loft style cottage, nestled on ten bucolic acres in the Cascade foothills. We have a quarter mile long driveway that crosses our bridge to where you will find your getaway home centered in the woodsy magic of Singing Dog Farm.
The Cottage is elegantly finished with stucco walls, open beams, fir, oak, granite and marble flooring. The home is exceptionally warm and inviting and is the perfect place for adults to relax and enjoy a day in the country.
The master bedroom has a Jacuzzi tub where you can turn on the propane fireplace and lay back and enjoy the overhead skylight, a movie or rock out to music. There is a firm, queen sized mattress in the master bedroom. The master bath has heated marble floors and an exquisite walk in marble shower, as well as its own skylight and in-ceiling speakers.
There is a second bedroom and mud room/guest bath downstairs and a quarter bath upstairs.
The upstairs loft living area has a spacious and open feel. The living area is furnished with plenty of comfortable seating and a good sound system. There is a writing desk where you can sit and seek inspiration from the world, or watch the horses outside the window. French doors open from the living area to a small, cozy deck to enjoy your morning coffee and greet the day.
The upstairs also has a full kitchen with a gas range, all marble counters and a copper sink with copper pans hanging from above the island. The dining area has comfortable seating for four.
The outside grounds are mostly in pasture where our Friesian horses can often be seen galloping for reasons only they can understand, but which we appreciate for the opportunity to enjoy their aristocratic beauty and flowing manes and tails.
The compliment of our four Golden retrievers are on full time as staff members. They are always quite pleased to share their sage wisdom, listen knowingly and attentively to your troubles or just lick your face.
The Cottage has all zone heating, with separate controls in each room. The entry way has heated marble flooring. We have a fair selection of board games and movies as well as satellite TV channels and crappy satellite internet via WiFi. There is a washer and dryer in the mud room.
Just some additional notes, we strive to keep the cottage pristine, so we do ask that it remain, as much as practical, a shoe free home. A bench or stool is provided in both entrances to ease this transition. We also feel that our cottage and property is not suitable for children even when they are attended by loving and amazing parents. The staircase is steep and is all hardwood and the farm itself is not in any way child proofed. In choosing our decor we also knew that while more artistic for adults, the stucco finish and expansive use of soft wood trim is not very forgiving of children. Very sorry for any inconvenience and we hope you understand.
Chris and Teri do live on site. We completely respect your privacy and the layout of the grounds lends itself to protecting a sense of seclusion.

The cabin is just enough east of Mount Vernon that you forget you’re near town, but just a few miles to restaurants and a Haggen’s. The beds were very comfortable, as were the towels. The kitchen was well stocked. The chairs and couches were comfy. But we spent a lot of time on the porch! The chairs and loveseat were very relaxing. In fact, we ate on the porch as often as we could. We requested additional firewood after the first night, and Tim promptly delivered it. We enjoyed watching the rabbits around the yard. And we also got an unexpected visitor - a Bobcat on Saturday morning! They have a great TV upstairs, but honestly, we probably watched one movie over 3 days! We were at that fire pit or porch most of the time. The property and home are both beautiful. We used to live in La Conner, so we miss Skagit County. We come back a couple times a year to visit friends and family. The Peaceful Pines will hopefully be our ‘base camp’ for many years to come. Tim and Sue have thought of almost everything! House Rules:

Candles: Open flames of any sort are strictly prohibited in and around the home. Candles of any sort and incense are prohibited in the house at all times. Damage of surfaces caused by wax or ash will result in a $100 fine as well as cost of replacing any damaged surfaces/furniture.

Smoking: -Smoking/vaping is permitted outside only away from open doors and windows. NO smoking of any kind is allowed inside the home. Dispose of butts appropriately into garbage can and not in the lawn.

Shoes: please remove shoes upon entry to the house and use the provided shoe storage rack. Shoes are NOT permitted to be worn throughout the house, especially on the carpets. Please remove shoes before coming in from the back deck into the bedroom.

Registered Guests Only: Only guests registered on booking are permitted to stay overnight. House is equipped for 6 people with possible room for an additional 2 with additional occupancy fee paid per day when approved at time of booking. Unregistered guests will be asked to leave premises and may be grounds for cancelation of booking without refund for breaking house rules.

No Parties Allowed: no parties/large group gatherings above maximum house occupancy allowed unless previously approved by host at time of booking. Local law enforcement will be notified and booking will be canceled without refund.

No Music Outside: please be respectful of the neighbors. Loud music at any time of day is not permitted. If enjoying the outdoor space during the day, please keep music levels to a low respectable level. If noise volume complaints are received, you will be asked to turn all music off outside during your stay.

Do not put away any used linen/bedding. Housekeeper will wash ALL bedding/linen that has been used. If airbed is used, please leave out so they can be sanitized for the next guest.
- If utilizing one of the couches as sleeping quarters, please place a sheet from the linen closet down to cover the couch first

Toilet: Please, nothing but toilet paper should go in the toilet. There’s a trash bin in each bathroom for everything else.

Trash/Recycling/Compost: please place corresponding items in the corresponding bins located along the side of the house.
Recycled items should NOT be in bags.
Boxes should be broken down and can/plastic bottles crushed to help not overfill.

Relax with up to 4 guests at this quiet location just 3 minutes from I-5. We are located in the Skagit Valley at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The Skagit Valley provides many opportunities for entertainment. Annual local entertainment includes the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival attracting crowds from all over the world. Other activities near by include: Mt. Baker & Stevens Pass for skiing, Deception Pass for views of the San Juan Islands. Many great local dining options and NW breweries!
The space:
This guest suite is located on the 2nd floor of a standalone building approximately 125 ft. from our residence. Our property is located on 5 acres with family next door who own the adjacent 6.5 acres. The building sits in a open grass field close to the forest. A small creek runs through the forest at the bottom of the ravine. There is complementary EV charging inside the garage portion of the building.
Guest access:
Access to the building is provided through the 1st floor garage and also deck/stairs leading to the bedroom from the field. The garage bay where parking is available is the only part of the 1st floor accessible to guests.
Other entrances (2nd garage door and standard door are for owner/maintenance access only, under occasional use.

We have 220v outlet for vehicle charging located by the entrance door.

You’ll have full access to the apartment. Found in the bedroom second closet is the washer and dryer.

- "The house was as advertised. Older established Mount Vernon neighborhood with quick access to LaConner, Bellingham, north Whidbey, and Anacortes. We walked on the Anacortes ferry (36 minutes from the house) to Lopez Island for a day of biking. Had a great time there. The next day we drove to Bellingham (about a half hour also), visited Whatcom Falls Park and Fairhaven, and took Chuckanut Drive for our return. Scenic and peaceful. This morning we drove to the top of Little Mountain (the biggest hunk of Little Mountain Park), which was less than ten minutes from the house. Good times! As for the house itself, it was comfortable and well-equipped. The owner was accessible and easy to work with. I can't rate the TV service. Too busy to watch it!"

Your own entry, locked room, functional kitchenette with full size fridge/freezer, microwave, electric hot pad with pans to cook your own meal. The space
The room is on the second floor of a large shop, above another Airbnb space. The bathroom/laundry is located just off the stairs. We ask our guests to respect the quiet hours to not wake the below guests.

Guest access
Private access to your room. The kitchenette and bathroom are on the main floor of the garage which we sometimes use to shoot hoops during daylight hours. The garage does have heated floors but it can still be colder than room temperature while using the kitchenette area.

Other things to note
The room is at the top of a flight of stairs. The access door to the garage is located at the opposite end of the room. You’ll walk around our boat to get to the room.

If you plan on bringing your pet, please make sure you have a crate for it if you plan on leaving it in the room while you’re away. We also kindly ask that they are not on the furniture for future guests allergies.

Little Mountain has great trails as well. Big lake is 5 minutes downhill from us, bring your kayak! Mount Vernon has lovely restaurants, and all services you could need close by. Five Cedars Retreat is 7 miles (travel by car or bike) from the Skagit tulip farms on the west side of the city of Mount Vernon. Your host can provide travel advice. Staying in Mount Vernon gives you the opportunity to see the tulips during sunrise and sunset when fewer tourists are present.

YOUR HOME-BASE
Five Cedars Retreat is an inviting, one-bedroom apartment nestled in the daylight basement level of a 1950's Cape Cod house. Your first impression will be the sight of five old cedar trees sheltering a cheerful blue house with a red door. The host lives in the house on the upper floors.

You will have an assigned parking space and your own private entrance door into the apartment. This apartment is not handicapped-accessible because it has a gravel driveway and two steps within the apartment. Note- This basement level apartment has low ceilings- 6 ft 8 in (198 centimeters) in the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. The bathroom ceiling is 6 ft (182 centimeters). Please read all house rules in rental agreement. This apartment is NON-SMOKING OR VAPING and this is a house rule . Guests who break this rule will receive a negative review.

If you have sporting equipment such as a bike, ask the host about the availability of inside storage.

Our suite is located on one of the oldest properties in Big Lake. The original house next door was built in 1910. The suite was added on more recently and is the first space done during the current remodel as we work on bringing this old property back to life. This perfect-sized studio has a well-stocked full-sized kitchen. Complete with a microwave, blender, food processor, hand mixer, coffee maker, full-sized fridge, and oven. Plus anything you would need to cook a meal (i.e. oil, seasonings, and any utensil you can think of). Try a recipe from one of the Washington cookbooks located in the suite. Sleep sound on the 1886 refurbished murphy bed. Need extra space for the 2nd guest, lay down the couch for another bed. Extra pillows and blankets are provided. Enjoy wifi and a smart TV with Netflix during your stay. All the windows have privacy film on them. Enjoy the light from outside while still enjoying your privacy. Each window also has a black-out curtain if you want to sleep in or enjoy a nap during the day. Important Things to Note: We are not a pet-friendly rental and please make sure to smoke outside. Please do not place hot pots or pans directly on the counters. Hot pads are provided. The space is not intended for children. However, it can fit an adult and a child. We do not have anything to entertain a child in the suite. But if you are coming with a child please let us know. We do have three children ourselves and can leave some items for the child. We currently do not have an outdoor area for our guests. We are working on it for the future. If your stay is over 7 days please note there are living plants in the suite. Owners will coordinate a time that works for the guests for the owners to water the plants on a weekly basis. We are on a septic system and ask that guests do not flush anything other than toilet paper (and human waste) down our toilet or dump coffee grounds down the sink. Also, there is a glass container under the kitchen sink to dump grease into instead of the drain. Just leave it out and we will take care of it after your stay. Thank you for being mindful of our system. Self-check-in: Keyless entry via keypad at the front door. We will message you a unique code before checking in. (Do not lock the bottom handle when leaving the suite) We live here on-site. The suite is detached from our house. If you need anything we are here for you. The property is in the middle of a remodel. This old 1910 farm is far from its original glory. The building the suite is in will be getting a new roof and new siding this summer. We are working around our guest's schedules so as not to disturb any stay. No materials or equipment will impede your stay. The entire inside of the suite has been remodeled this year and is ready and comfortable for your stay.

There are outdoor Ring security cameras at front and back doors for your added protection, please do not touch or tamper, a fine may be imposed, thanks.

All cancellations must be submitted in writing and you must contact VRBO to cancel your reservation. Children are welcome, however, there may be conditions in and around the unit/property that may pose hazards to them, as well as to adults. Children must be supervised at all times. Candles/fires are not allowed on property; No smoking inside (cigarettes, cannibas or vapes). Please take caution using stairs as this is a multi-level home; you are responsible for the safety of your children and visitors. No smoking / No fires / No fireworks. Guest gives consent all disputes will be settled to the jurisdiction of the state, superior district, small claims and federal courts located in Washington State.

INDEMNITY: Guest understands that Owner is held harmless from any claims from insurance and their visitors, and any natural acts of God. Owners do not assume any liability or responsibility for any injuries occurring during your stay with us; Guests and their visitors will hold Owners harmless from any litigation and insurance claims. A fine of $500 if guest is found in violation of House Rules and/or Terms & Conditions. In the event Guest initiates a chargeback, Guest agrees to pay an administration fee of $500 to Owner regardless of the outcome of dispute. Owner has final judgment in dispute.

Whether cozied up in front of the wood burning stove, soaking up the sun on the deck or enjoying the fire table under the gazebo this is a year around favorite.
