The space is located on the second story of the property, so be aware that there are stairs to access the space. If beach walks are what you’re after, explore all 7 of the state parks bordered by the Salish sea, home to orcas, sea birds, pacific salmon, and abundant sea life, all within 10-40 minutes of the house.

Two other beaches that I highly recommend are West Beach which is accessed off of Lervick Avenue (small parking area on left). This beach is wonderful for sunsets. And secondly, Young County Park at North Beach. Plenty of parking here. Great beach for a stroll up and around Clark point at the tip of the island.Also don't forget to try some of beautiful hiking trails including one to the top of Guemes Island Mountain.

The apartment is on the second floor of a large barn-house. It features a bright and airy open floor plan with two bedrooms and a full bath. Access is through the entry and staircase off the carport on the ground level, but there is no access to the large garage space below.

There is a large deck with a spectacular view facing west, which looks out across several miles of open fields and farmlands and Mt. Erie. It is especially great for wildlife viewing and sunsets. There are several acres for outdoor play, as well as a large fully fenced backyard with a pond which is accessible from the back deck. There is covered parking for one vehicle, as well as uncovered parking for several more.

We welcome well-behaved dogs, but we do ask the following:
-tell us about your dog(s) at time of booking
-please pick up after your dog
-dogs must be in a crate if left unattended in the house

Bedroom layout: Main level has a private queen bedroom and off the back of the house is a room that is semi private with a privacy curtain and fits a king bed. You enter this back room to access the stairs to the private master ensuite. The upstairs suite is private with a barn style door. The back bedroom and primary suite is excellent for families with children or another couple. Couch can be used to sleep 1-2 people but does not turn into a bed. We have extra bedding if needed.

Located on the shores of Similk Bay outside Anacortes, this home offers the perfect quiet getaway for up to five guests. There’s nothing better in this life than spending time in the early morning hours watching the bay come alive from the sun room in this home. There is beach access from the property and also within a very short walking distance.
Guest access
Use of the entire home is yours for the duration of your stay. The house is on one story with easy access and two separate bedrooms. We’ve supplied the home with high speed WIFI, two televisions with streaming options, and a well equipped kitchen with all the essentials.
Other things to note
SEPTIC - please remember that the systems along this stretch of beach are all individually designed and aren’t built to service large crowds of people over long stretches of time. In particular, please don’t put anything into the system that isn’t toilet paper. This includes napkins, wipes, paper towels, and feminine hygiene products. The last thing any of us want during your stay is an malfunctioning septic system!

WASHER AND DRYER – we offer the use of the washer and dryer by our guests. Please limit use of these appliances to one load per day. Once again this comes down to overuse of the washer in particular being a potential source of stress on our septic system.

BEACH ACCESS AND HIGH BANK – please be careful! In particular the bank in the front yard is steep. In the 68 years our family has been in possession of the property no one has ever tumbled over the bank, but you never know. Especially with little children this is always a concern. If you want to access the beach be aware that once you get down to the bottom of the stairs off the concrete bulkhead there’s not much of a landing area. We attempt to keep the driftwood clear but it is constantly changing configuration. Those with limited mobility wishing to access the beach should do so at the public entrance at the end of the meadow down the street.

ARTWORK – throughout the house you will see framed watercolors. All of these are original artwork done by the host and are offered for sale. Your host is a long-standing collected artist who has pieces in private collections all over the world. If you are interested in purchasing please let the us know.

TELEVISION – both TVs are “Roku” devices which support virtually all of the major streaming services. Please be advised that we don’t provide subscriptions for our guests to use. If a particular service is already logged in, feel free to use it. Otherwise you will have to log in using your own account.

KITCHEN – we try to make sure that whatever is in the refrigerator (condiments, drinks etc) is current. Please feel free to consume whatever is on hand. It is also okay to leave extras behind. We especially appreciate any unopened bottles of wine, beer and/or hard seltzer that you can’t find room for in your vehicle. Any open bottles of hard liquor are also greatly appreciated.

LINENS – we put bath towels, hand towels and washcloths out for the number of guests we are expecting. Sheets and pillowcases on all the beds are fresh.

To ensure convenience for all guests, the two parking spaces in front of the cottage, under the rose arbor, are reserved specifically for cottage guests. An exciting location on the Swinomish Channel with boats going by, eagles overhead and when the tide is out, walk the beach. A complete remodel in 2024 with all new EVERYTHING. There is a community boat launch and community beach. Plus this house comes with a small dock in the boat basin. Right near Rozengarden and Tulip Town to view the Spring blooms. Close to the historic town with delicious restaurants, fun shops, art galleries, farm stands and flower fields. Only 20 minutes to Anacortes for more activities and the waterfront town there.

You are close to everything, yet will feel one with nature- a world away! 7 minutes to Anacortes and 12-15 mins. to Deception pass, Mt. Erie, Whistle Lake, San Juan Island Ferry & Skagit Valley! As an added bonus, Swinomish Golf Course and Bastion Brewery are just down the street 1/8 mile. Enter the old west. The homestead sets in the middle of 60 acres, and feels like a century ago on the plains. Except plains with the sea one field away, and the San Juan islands in view. The surrounding fields are some of the most productive on the coast, which connects to why this isolated farm is next level for birding. Hike the rocky shore, meadows and forests of Deception Falls or Chuckanut. Foodies, bikers- the Skagit is all about eateries in farm country, and Edison is ground zero.

We sit on a hillside overlooking Skagit farmland and beyond that the waters of the Northern Puget Sound and the spectacular San Juan Islands. Turn from the island view east and you will find Mount Baker sitting firmly on the foundation of the Cascade foothills. On clear winter nights, the ski areas above Vancouver, BC are clearly visible. Cattle graze on green fields just below the farm and when the potato harvest is over swans, snow geese and ducks of all kinds feast through the mild winter.

The apartment was built as a temporary home while the main house was under construction. It features a single bedroom with a sitting area, compact kitchen and 3/4 bath.

You are welcome to wander the property. We have a turn out pasture for travelers with horses so please be respectful of others livestock. The main house is rented to a full time tenants. Please do not bother them.

Please note: We are not on site but always available by phone.

There is no broadcast TV in our area and we do not have cable TV. We do have a smart TV with internet access and a DVD player with 100 plus movies.

We are just minutes from Edison, with it's unique shops and restaurants.

This lovely 1910 farm house is full of character with coved ceilings, arched doorways & built-ins. Surrounded by farmland, with sweeping views and a pastoral setting. The space is private and serene, yet only minutes away from downtown Mount Vernon and 8 minutes from Costco!

There is a large grassy lawn in front, perfect for soccer games and a fenced backyard area with a play structure for your kids to enjoy.

Four bedrooms upstairs are furnished with modern décor and a shared, updated bathroom.

Downstairs you will find a fully stocked kitchen, living room with fireplace, and TV room with streaming options, in addition to a pull-out sofa bed.

Guests have access to the 1st and 2nd floors of the home (~2000sf) and all of the yard. The basement as well as the Barn and Granary (small barn) to the rear of the house are not accessible to guests.

The space
This cheerful little house is perched above a secret cove on magical Guemes Island overlooking Long Bay, the islands, Levant Passage, Bellingham Bay and in the distance, the mountains of British Columbia. It has been updated and is fully furnished with everything you’ll need to have an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

The cabin easily accommodates guests from all walks of life: singles, couples, pairs of friends, novelists, telecommuters, wedding guests, honeymooners, seniors, and families with young children are all welcome. (For limited-mobility guests: we have a bedroom and bathroom on the main level and there are four steps from the carport to the front deck and main level. The upstairs loft level is accessed by a carpeted flight of stairs with a very sturdy handrail.) We are not set-up to allow pets.

DINING
There is seating for 6 at the dining table plus 2 stools at the kitchen counter.
The Front Porch is a nice spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the early evening with a view of the water, sunset and surrounding trees.
On the Balcony, an outdoor bistro-style eating area is perfect for a tranquil al fresco meal while watching the eagles hunt at the shoreline or the chickadees at the bird-feeder, or try out the old-fashioned glider chair.
The Sun Deck offers a spacious area for outdoor meals.

BATHING
Two Bathrooms—each with a modern dual-flush toilet, sink, and showers with wide, adjustable shower-heads, and stocked with basic toiletries, towels, and hair dryer.

SAUNA
The traditional Swedish wood-fired cedar sauna is tucked behind the house in a private corner overlooking the woods, so bring your robe and slippers.

HEATING
To stay cozy and warm, the cabin is well-insulated and heated with a cozy, easy-to-operate gas fireplace and additional electric heaters in bathrooms and bedroom.

THINGS TO DO
We have Wi-Fi, binoculars, telescope, maps, magazines, coloring books, playing cards, magazines and a library of local interest books (non-fiction, northwest literature, nature guides, travel writing, historical accounts, island fiction, local authors, and children’s literature) plus toys, games, and puzzles for people of all ages. Or, roll out a yoga mat for a good stretch while contemplating the view.

OUTDOORS
There are three decks from which to enjoy the woodsy outdoors, take meals or drinks, sunbathe, watch boats, relax, or watch the wildlife and incredible sunsets.
Set up the telescope to stargaze or scan the distant view.
Relax in a recliner chair for sun-bathing.
Walk the trails around the cabin and hunt for outdoor art.

WORKING
The Office upstairs in the Loft offers a comfortable chair, desk, and lamp at which to work/study/write/relax while taking in the spectacular views from a higher vantage point with none of the noise and distractions of working in the city. Basic office supplies, Wi-Fi and ample electrical and USB plug-ins are supplied.

While the ranch feels secluded, it’s just a short drive to downtown Anacortes, local trailheads, beaches, and scenic viewpoints. Popular nearby destinations like Deception Pass, Mount Erie, and the Anacortes Ferry Terminal are all within 10 miles.

Other Things to Note:
◆ Starter supplies (toiletries, paper goods, dish soap, etc.) are provided, but we recommend bringing extras for longer stays.
◆ Linens and towels are provided, but for added comfort, you may wish to bring your favorite pillow, blanket, or extra towels—especially if you plan to visit Whistle Lake.
◆ No pets, smoking are allowed on the ranch property.
◆ Quiet hours are expected and enforced after 10 PM out of respect for other guests and the peaceful environment.
◆ Please stay within the areas reserved for your group and do not enter other buildings or staff areas.
◆ Cell reception may be spotty in some areas, but Wi-Fi is available in the cabin.
