THE LOCATION IS SUNNY AND BRIGHT on the southwest side of San Juan with distant views of the mountains and the sea. The cottage is in a quiet setting on a 6 &2/3 acre horse "ranch. This is a rural residential area. There are neighboring houses so you might expect to hear occasional landscaping maintenance.. The parcels in this area are from 5 to 10 acres. This property is NOT waterfront but water views. There is no immediate water access from this property, however, there is a lovely county beach within 20 minutes walking distance. The main house, where we live, is about 15 feet corner to corner from the cottage, however, there is privacy between with dense gardens and a decorative gate.. The guest cottage was here when we bought the property. We rarely use the cottage so we thought we would share it with others. Your privacy inside and near the cottage is assured; we will never intrude in your space, however, if you are seeking completed seclusion with absolutely no one nearby then this is NOT the place for you.
There are two outdoor patios. The one on the water side has a table & 2 chairs & a propane BBQ. The other smaller stone patio is on the opposite side in the garden with two chairs as well. The hot tub is in the garden between the main house and the cottage which is landscaped with dense foliage and fencing.

We are walking distance to secluded Eagle Cove with a sandy beach, great for relaxing & wading. Walk or drive the short distance to nearby American Camp National Park for hiking opportunities, more beaches and island history information at the ranger station. American Camp is about 2,000 acres of prairie, woods and miles of beaches.
You can expect to see us around the property tending to the garden and the horses.

The cottage is located on the "sunny" southwest side with views of the sea and the mountains. The cottage is situated on a 6 & 1/2 acre "horse ranch" in a quiet rural residential area with parcels ranging from 3 & 1/2 acres to 10 acres. The nearest neighbor is 250 ft. from the cottage and the next closest is about 350 ft. away. Though the main house is about 20 ft. from the guest cottage, it is private. There is no immediate access to the water, however, a 15 minute walk will take you to nearby Eagle Cove Beach and also to the entrance of American Camp National Park with more beaches & trails. Visitors can have beach fires at South Beach which is within the park boundary.
There are two patios adjacent to the cottage; one has a table & chairs and BBQ, The other patio on the opposite side is situated in a large perennial flower garden with chairs provided as well; a pleasant and shady spot to enjoy the hummingbirds and flowers. The hot tub is also in the garden.

You'll be located on one of the only saltwater rivers in the western United States, a fascinating natural oddity where fresh water melds with salt and then flows back with the tides.

The house also contains a display of tools and arrowheads found at the nearby archaeological site dating from 2,500 to 5,000 years old.

Other property owners have access to a nearby common areas but the guest yard and beach access is completely private.

Pets are welcome with the following policy:

1. Pets must be in control on the property and stay within the property lines (yard is not enclosed)
2. Pets must do no damage to the house.
3. Pets are not allowed to sleep on the beds as it is often very difficult to ensure every hair is removed.
4. All dog poop must be picked up from the yard, bags are supplied in the dispenser on the back deck.

There is one security camera on the property that covers the parking area and walkway to the front door.

This north facing, waterfront home just minutes from town, is a retreat for a small family or a few friends to come and relax on San Juan Island. (EWR) **There is a staircase that is used to access the house.

Located on the main floor is the gourmet kitchen with an open concept to the living room and incredible view of San Juan Channel.
Enjoy a movie on the Smart TV (Roku's equipped for each TV with your personal login) or sit and watch the boats cruise past the waterfront. A small collection of board games is provided in the living room for the family to enjoy. The kitchen is fully stocked with all your cooking needs (spices are not always guaranteed) which includes an in-island cooktop stove and sub-zero refrigerator. Seating at the bar and at the convertible armoire/table are the options to enjoy your meal.

There is a large, spacious deck off the living room to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail.

Upstairs you will find the primary bedroom with a King bed, en suite bathroom with double sink and heated floors, and private outdoor deck. The extra room off the upstairs bedroom has a hide-a-bed couch and pack n' play for the smaller child.

Neil Bay Hideaway is situated on little over an acre with views from living, dining, and recreation rooms of Neil Bay and Spieden Island. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home has plenty of room for children and the family dog to play and romp in the fenced backyard and is conveniently located a short walk to the historic seaport town of Roche Harbor for fine restaurants, shopping, walking the docks, or playing on the beach at the isthmus.

Nice open floor plan so families can be together while cooking in the kitchen, playing foosball in the game room or watching sports on the 65" HD TV in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a separate dining room with a table and six chairs, plus two extra upholstered folding chairs for added seating. Don't worry about bringing salt and pepper. The owner tries to provide most spices you would need, along with olive oil, vinegar, etc. They even try to keep some coffee in stock.

The owners offer a wood burning stove in the recreation room and a fireplace in the living room. Wood is available at no charge on the property. Free internet and DirecTV is available. The primary bedroom is a king with a full bath and TV, the guest room is a queen with full bath, and the game room now has a sofa bed that can accommodate your children or adults.

Nearby activities include playing on the beach at the isthmus, swimming at the Roche Harbor pool for a nominal fee, taking a stroll through Roche Harbor’s sculpture park, kayaking, gin tasting, hiking nearby trails and parks, fishing, crabbing and exploring Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor.

During the warm island months, enjoy an evening dinner outside in the beautifully landscaped yard with the propane Weber BBQ grill and comfortable outdoor dining area. The fenced backyard is the perfect spot for your family pup to play or simply relax in the outdoor doghouse. The house is perfect for two couples, their family and dogs to enjoy time to relax and unwind while enjoying the quiet of the Neil Bay neighborhood.

Fire pits are not usable from May 1st-September 30th due to county burn ban and safety of property and neighboring areas. Ban is usually lifted October 1st if/when conditions and weather are favorable. Firewood is provided for off-season.

One house-trained, less than 65-pound dog per reservation with a pet fee. If a request for an additional dog is made, an additional fee will be assessed. Only two dogs maximum are allowed. Dogs are not to be left unattended. If a dog is left unattended and a neighbor calls to complain about noise or other disruption by the dog, renter will be charged a $200 fee. Pets are not allowed on furniture. Renter assumes responsibility for all extra cleaning needed such as emergency carpet cleaning, furniture replacement, and or emergency laundromat use for bulky items like comforters and pillows. - "Lovely house, well equipped, very modern and clean. Unfortunately, when booked the plan was to have five adults and a small dog. One of the adults got covid and had to bail out. The couple with the dog had travel issues and couldn't make it, leaving just my wife and I. All of that was bad enough then on our second day there my wife had a misstep (be careful of the step leading into the game room just inside the main entrance), she badly sprained her ankle such that walking was painful and difficult. She also strained some interstitial ribs muscle catching herself from the subsequent fall. Icing, taping, ibuprofen helped, but our plans to further explore the island were dashed. Rather than hanging around we figured convalescing and care for the ankle and rib muscles could be better handled at home, we were able to switch our ferry sailing day and departed a day early. Rather than three nights we were only there two nights. So a house large enough to comfortably accommodate six people only has two of us and our three night stay was truncated to just two night. In the end no matter how nice the house was (and it was very nice indeed) the trip was pretty much a bust."

Fourteen hundred feet of coastline on three acres, bordered by preservation land offers the most premier whale watching on the west side of San Juan Island. Orcas of the J, K, and L pod hunt migrating salmon along the shoreline, and on occasion sleep in our cove.

Built uniquely close to the shoreline, the Waterhouse is a very secluded, island home.
Custom built with much attention to creative details, enjoy a beautiful stone gas fireplace when ambiance and warmth are the inspiration. The fully equipped kitchen includes a professional Viking stove, a great invitation to the serious chef. A stainless propane BBQ on the deck makes outdoor cooking a breeze.

Multiple French doors, a vaulted ceiling and an open living space floor plan surrounded by windows provide customized comfort, and spectacular water views from all rooms including its two bedrooms.

There is plenty to do with the rocky coves and a private gravel beach to explore. Tide pooling is excellent. Bring your binoculars because bird watching is superb, with resident Harlequin ducks and the local Bald Eagle 'Rocky'. Watch fox, otter, and deer close by, or pack your favorite beverages, a great book and relax on a sandy haven directly in front of the house. Two well-furnished decks with outdoor seating, a picnic table and Adirondack chairs also beckon. A rocky fire pit is available, with the exception of May 1- September 30th when fire danger is high on the island. Best of all is whale watching as this stretch of shoreline has been identified by a Whale Museum biologist as a feeding area for Orcas. Watch whales pass by from the deck as their family groups come within a few yards of shore, hunting salmon.

Please note. Cars are limited to two, and are parked uphill, behind the house. The trail from the parking area to the house is a downhill grassy slope, that is somewhat rugged and can be challenging for some. Two big wheel wagons are provided to haul groceries and luggage. We are a no drone, no motorized bikes or scooter property. Old Johnson Rdwy is 1.2 miles of gravel road with sharp 90degree turns and is very quiet. Medium to high clearance cars are recommended. The Cottage on Cedar Street is a cozy wood-sided house in a beach town (near the beach!). A small home loaded with coastal charm. A dwelling meant exclusively for guests (that's you!). Cozy comfort is an essential feature. Open floor plan, functions very efficiently; tis bright, cozy and welcoming! Every detail has been meticulously planned with you, our guest, in mind. The interior of the cottage was completely refurbished in 2022 and 2023, while the exterior was painted a gorgeous light blue with a touch of lavender in a nod to our lavender fields on the island.

Reflect. Native American Tribes and First Nations of Canada have lived in and stewarded the San Juan Islands as part of their ancestral territory since time immemorial. Coast Salish people in the Islands tended and harvested shellfish, salmon, crab, and other species from the Sea, camas in the prairies, berries along streams and in forests, and other flora and fauna for food and traditional uses. These ancestral lands and waters are still utilized today, and are protected under inherent, ancestral, and tribal treaty rights.

- "4 women stayed for 3 nights and toured the island. It is a short walk to downtown Friday Harbor, bike rentals and restaurants. If you are sensitive to traffic it was a little noisy when sitting outside but we didn’t notice it at all in side. Not a problem! My only suggestion would be if you like games, bring your own" - "The cottage on Cedar Street was the perfect location for our two night stay. We were four adults and found the set up (two bedrooms downstairs, shared large bathroom downstairs and powder room upstairs) to be spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean, well appointed (the local coffee was much. appreciated!), clear communication with host, and great location close to town. We’d definitely stay again!"

Quaint and charming Craftsman cottage on Woods Lake located within a five-minute drive to the ocean so you can watch sunsets over Vancouver Island, Canada. The island is a nature lover’s dream. It is crisscrossed with hiking trails, wonderful ocean visits, kayaking and whale watching availability and is a boater’s paradise. It is home to a small community but highly active in the arts including a Community Theater, several art galleries, and the SJIMA art museum. Many artists call these islands their home and have home studios open to the public. Woods Lake Cottage includes an onsite working artist’s studio open to visitors and operated by local artist, Yvonne Buijs-Mancuso. Available for purchase are art glass pieces, Encaustic (wax) paintings, and silver and copper electroformed jewelry.
San Juan Island located in the Pacific Northwest is one of five islands served by Washington State Ferries. The New York Times recently listed the San Juan Islands at #3 as one of the best islands to visit in North America. The island is blessed with two National Historical Parks for visitors to see, historical as they date back to a Pig War skirmish that ensued between the British and the Americans in the 1800’s. Roche Harbor Resort, a highly popular tourist destination as the hotel dates back to the time of the Roosevelts, attracts mega yachts, fishermen, sailors, and tourists that can browse the well-tended flower gardens or enjoy a four-star dinner at the MacMillan Restaurant. The Pelindaba Lavender farm, is within walking distance of the cottage only a half mile down the road. We are situated across from Alchemy Art Center for those of you interested in pottery, photography and printing classes which are offered throughout the year. If you are lucky enough to be staying here in late July and early August, Island Island Stage Left performs professional Shakespearian plays several evenings per week.
The home itself is an exercise in eclectic design and function. The stained-glass windows, tiffany style lamps, original paintings, beamed woodwork, cobblestone fireplace, and tiled counters lend themselves to a cozy, laidback retreat. The cottage is fully furnished home with stocked kitchen equipment, master bedroom with king bed, loft with queen bed and day bed with linens supplied, and an upstairs sitting area and desk. Full master bath with tub/shower and half bathroom. Living area with flat TV screen. It is necessary to supply your own internet aps to access online stations via the cottage WIFI. DVD’s & HVS are available for viewing offline along with a small library and plenty of books and games. Open configuration kitchen & dining room with double doors to the outside and a hot tub. Outside area has a sitting area on the lower patio and a barbecue for spring, summer and fall use.
There are daily visits from local wildlife … deer, fox, ravens, and soaring eagles hunting for fish on the lake. Come and stay for a visit on this island sanctuary.

- "Beautifully crafted, cozy cottage. Wonderful hosts. Overall a very nice stay. A couple things that would have made it even better: some comfortable outdoor furniture. We love enjoying our coffee and meals outside. Some sturdy Adirondack chairs and a little bistro table would be great additions. A few kitchen basics like olive oil, sugar would’ve also been useful. - "We can't say enough nice things about this place and our hosts Marcy and Ralph. The guest house itself was clean, spacious, and luxurious. We felt at home from the moment we stepped in the door. The property is in the middle of the woods, so it was wonderfully quiet. I enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, and my husband and I enjoyed eating outside on the deck overlooking the woods and peek-a-boo views of the ocean. The guest house is only a couple of miles from Friday Harbor, so it was easy to drive into town and dine at a restaurant or get on a whale watching tour. The island is small enough that we could drive anywhere in less than half an hour. Our hosts Marcy and Ralph were respectful of our privacy, but, by the time we left, we felt like they had become wonderful friends. We found out that the guest house was decorated with furniture and furnishings from Marcy's mother, which gave the home an especially warm, personal feel. My husband and I did not want to leave when the week was over, and we are already dreaming of taking another vacation here!"
