Cell phone coverage can be spotty in this area and you may need to drive to a nearby town for cell service.
The fireplace in the living room and the wood stove in the kitchen are ornamental, and therefore non-operational; the home is fully heated with room and baseboard heaters.

There were no restaurants open that we could find (in March), so grab your groceries in Lopez Village on the way down from the ferry landing. This is not the house for you if you are someone who requires updated furniture and a super nice house. It IS the perfect house for you if you love to play in nature and swim in a humongous body of cold water and want to deepen connections with your family. This was our second time here and we plan to return!"

The Village is a nice 9 mile bike ride away or short drive and is full of many places you don't want to miss: farmers market, amazing deli, juice bar, whole foods market, wonderful restaurants, a world renowned bakery, coffee shops, local grocery, wine tasting from a local vineyard and more!

The kitchen is well appointed and the space was open and so comfortable. The Lopez Island community is great. People were all warm and friendly. I gave a three star on the listing accuracy because I specifically wanted a place with a hot tub and, although clean, the hot tub was luke warm at best and it was really hard to get the temperature up. Fortunately the bathtub in the cabin is awesome!! I really wanted a hot tub, though and didn't want to deal with being inundated by repair people."

Peaceful island retreat with view of Mud Bay! Enjoy the forest, hiking, biking and fabulous sunsets on Lopez Island, part of the San Juan Islands!

Our home features 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a nice large deck out front with large trees and views of the water through the trees. The 'kids' room has a full/twin bunk bed (140lbs max for top bunk) and another twin bed. The primary bedroom has a king bed. The place sleeps 6 people maximum per night.

Our family has been on the island since the early to mid 90’s after our BFF family friends moved to Lopez. We set up this delightful little cabin in the late 90’s and we have been visiting ever since! We recommend hiking at Glacier point, Agate Beach and around the Village.

Details of the Property: There is 1 Ring camera installed on the front of the building by the front door that faces the parking area. There are no other surveillance devices on the property. There are large swaths of forest on either side and it is very private. We have provided basic amenities such as toilet paper, dish soap and always fresh clean towels and sheets. We use "artificial fragrance free" detergent for those with sensitive skin or allergies. We make the place very comfortable for your stay. We have a full kitchen with essentially everything you need to make a great home cooked meal. We also have nice new pillows and sheets and we continue to upgrade items. There is a new wifi modem, and the fiber optic cables are currently being routed to this side of the island! As soon as that becomes available we will have Lightning fast speeds! WiFi internet is available. There is a smart TV with a nice sound bar and a nice sectional couch in the living room. Bolt lock at front door, exterior LED perimeter lights at night, and heaters work very well! We have a Bluetooth speaker here for you to use. The primary bedroom lamps have usb and usb-c plug ins.

Safety: There is a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and another in the primary bedroom near the book case. There is a first aid kit under the bathroom sink. Each window has 2 locks and a screen. Please undo both locks to open and then re-lock both locks again after usage. Please turn off all heaters and appliances, and lock the Bolt lock before leaving the home each time. Please also be sure to lock the sliding glass door.

We have done Thanksgiving as a family in the cabin, crabbing, gooey duck hunting, island hopping and Mt. Constitution hikes and more! Please reach out If you would like recommendations on exploring the area!

The Islander restaurant in the village has a pool table and pinball machine. Sometimes live music!

Isabella’s in the village has amazing Americanos and espresso, sometimes the taco truck is out front and they are delicious! There is also a pizza truck. The village has a more standard grocery store and also a higher end “natural” grocer. There is a skate park in the village as well. There is also a golf course on the island. Be sure to wave at locals on the road! Just a finger or 2 acknowledgement will do!

We recommend visiting the South Side market when coming in and out of Mud Bay Area for any snacks, ice cream, or last minute things that you need to complete a meal back at the cabin!

We have a property manager on the island who is very responsive and helpful. The cleaning fee is comprehensive and when you arrive it will have been professionally cleaned before your stay. Also, as an island community, all waste is brought to the dump by the cleaning crew after each guest. There are large bins outside the kitchen sliding door. Please contact the owner directly and we always do our best to resolve anything that may come up.

Enjoy a very private setting with expansive views of Swift's Bay, Thatcher’s Pass, Ferry Traffic and the Cascades from our special home.

The all cedar great room has a vaulted ceiling with comforting furniture, fireplace, large screen HDTV, Bose surround sound and uninterrupted views that leads to its own large deck looking southeast. The gourmet kitchen has Viking, Bosch, and Subzero appliances. The imported granite counter tops and sitting area lends itself to gourmet or casual cooking. You are very likely to see Eagles, Deer, Otters, Mink and Seals from all arears of the house.

From the great room enter a stunning sun room with fireplace, sitting and dining areas. Outside you will find a new built-in barbecue, separate outside sitting area, a spacious hot tub (could be unavailable in late fall and/ or winter if we have a significant freeze.). Enjoy 240 feet of private beach while gathering around an evening fire by the fire pit surrounded by natural log benches.

The large master bedroom has a separate deck looking Northwest to the ferry terminal and Spencer’s Landing Marina.

Downstairs is a guest bedroom and a separate office area with a Murphy bed. (Wireless High Speed internet throughout).

Relax in our knotty pine loft with separate TV for DVD Movie watching while overlooking the eastern San Juan’s.

Easy beach access will allow you to explore the driftwood beach, and perhaps your children can use their imagination and build a small fort, while you sit on the beach reading your favorite book. You can walk Agate Beach, hike a short distance to Iceberg Point to see more amazing views, ride your bike, sit on the front porch, and perhaps see an eagle or two. Each evening you will witness ever changing spectacular sunsets bringing your fun filled day to a memorable closing.

BuoyHouse is professionally maintained and always kept in a clean and tidy manner. You will find all the necessary cooking equipment for meal preparation along with coffee maker, microwave, and toaster. Sleeping accommodations have quality linens and bedding. Buoy House is nestled in a quiet and rural area and is just an enjoyable fifteen-minute drive through pastoral farm country into town. Known as Lopez Village, you will find a fully stocked market, shops, cafes, galleries, restaurants, and bakery.

Note: BuoyHouse LLC does not charge an additional housekeeping fee as housekeeping is included in the stated rental amount. No pets whatsoever are allowed anywhere on the property.

Iceberg Point is within walking distance. Watmough Bay and Shark Reef are nearby. And it’s an easy drive to all points north on Lopez. It’s about a 10 mile up and down bike ride to the village. We had a great visit to the Farmers Market on Saturday. This is our favorite island to relax and unwind. We keep coming back and hope to stay at the Buoy House again!"
