The Quinn Cottage is a lovely waterfront home nestled on a sunny, wooded acre of land looking across Harney Channel to Shaw Island. The famous San Juan Island ferries and a continual romantic parade of pleasure boats sail by the cottage’s view throughout the day. The south-facing exposure catches the sunrise and sunset as well as all the sunlight and warmth possible through the seasons. It is a perfect location.

The cottage is just two miles from the Orcas Island ferry landing and public dock and the quaint Orcas Village with a well-stocked country market, shops and eateries, the Victorian era Orcas Hotel and Restaurant, movie rentals, whale watching excursion boats, and kayak rentals. Also two miles from the cottage is Bayhead Marina with boat slips and an easy boat and kayak launch ramp. Lake Killebrew, a small public lake only one mile away, is fun for fishing, hiking, and exploration.

An abundance of wildlife can be enjoyed from this pretty seaside retreat: deer, rabbits, raccoons, otters, mink, seals, bald eagles, heron, and an endless variety of other sea, shore, and land birds. At low tide the rocks at the water’s edge offer hours of exploration for oysters, starfish, crab, small fish, octopus, jelly fish, and other sea creatures.

Kayaking from this side of the island is fabulous. Other islands, coves, beaches, and villages are all within easy paddle distances. Rental guests are given information and advice so they can create their exciting kayaking adventures.

At night the sound of water lapping against the rocks and beach lulls visitors to sleep.

The pantry/laundry room has a washer and dryer, cleaning and laundry supplies, picnic ware, beach towels, and ample storage space. Many cooking essentials are available for use by the rental guest, including spices, herbs, coffee, tea, sugar and oils, and much more.

The large glassed-in upper deck and the water's edge lower deck have Adirondack chairs, dining tables, a gas barbeque, a gas fire pit for 'camp fires,' and a hammock. Both upper and lower decks are lovely spots for reading, relaxing, dining, and the constant viewing of water and wildlife.

The landscaped areas around the house have whimsical pieces of “exterior art” and other treasures. The acre of land beyond the house is covered with mossy knolls and sunny fields, creating a cushion of peace for the cottage. No road noise can be heard from this serene spot.

Similar to other reviews, we experienced so much wildlife right from the spacious living areas both inside and outside, including bald eagles, otters, seals, kingfishers, herons, lots of song birds and yes, even an Orca whale passing by one morning! A shared memory our family will never forget! Mary and Jeffrey are gracious and responsive hosts, and have a wealth of knowledge about Orcas and the other San Juan Islands. The house is well appointed with all manner of cooking appliances, an outdoor grill, and lots of amenities for preparing meals and having an enjoyable time at the house. We travelled with our two children and really enjoyed the quiet and solitude that this location offers, while also exploring the area and the island. An amazing getaway!"

Kingfish at West Sound in Eastsound provides adults only accommodations with a restaurant and a bar. Guests can have a drink at the snack bar. The Lower Studio Suite is well appointed with modern accents and comfort in mind.

The Lower Studio Suite is a cozy and intimate space while still affording all the comforts of home. There is a Queen Bed with a Pillowtop mattress and a Twin Day Bed which is located in the TV Nook Area where you can read, watch a movie, take a nap or provide an additional sleeping space if needed. There are two new Lazy-boy Swivel Rocking chairs to enjoy. We provide upscale bedding and additional cozy blankets to make your stay particularly enjoyable. The Lower Studio Suite has Heat/AC, Smart TV/Direct TV, WIFI, Books and an assortment of games.

The Kitchenette is fully outfitted. There is an island which can be used for food prep as well as seating for two indoors. You can take your meals outside on to the Patio which has additional seating and overlooks the newly installed terraced gardens and a water view of Fishing Bay! There are basic cooking supplies which you are welcome to use.

There is 1 Full Bathroom with Walk-In Shower. We provide high quality plush towels, artisan soap and bath salts. There is a (shared) Full-Size Washer/Dryer which is located at the top of the Stairwell.

The cottage has a Southerly facing Patio with an Ocean View where you can enjoy the lovely view and abundant wildlife. There is a patio set for outdoor dining and a Propane BBQ for your cooking pleasure.

The newly installed Gardens are breathtaking and we have strategically created multiple relaxation spaces for our guests to enjoy. In the evening enjoy the Fire-Pit at the bottom of the property and we simply ask that you make sure the Fire is extinguished fully after each use.

With an open layout and floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll enjoy serene views of the Salish Sea and the mountains beyond whether you’re relaxing in the living room or soaking up the sun on the wrap-around deck.

Our relaxing getaway cabin features two bedrooms and a large loft, full kitchen and bath, boho-vintage touches, wood stove, electric heat, dining table for six, flat screen TV, and plenty of books and games. Outside, the large deck with BBQ is the perfect place to unwind and drink in one of our spectacular North Shore sunsets.

The two bedrooms feature queen sized beds and the high-ceilinged loft has a king sized bed. The well-stocked kitchen contains a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, electric stove/oven, toaster, kettle, and all the cookware you’ll need to create that quintessential Pacific Northwest meal.

We have free high speed Wi-Fi for those wanting to do a bit of work from “home,” or if you simply want to curl up in the evening with your favorite show.

In the summer months, you’ll want to keep our binoculars on hand as bald eagles, great blue heron, seals, and otters are frequently spotted in the area. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an orca or porpoise pod traveling through!

Our family has made many great memories in the Sunset Cabin over the years, and we’re so excited to be able to share it with you!

OTHER NOTES / CAUTIONS:

While we welcome children at Sunset Cabin, please keep a close eye on them. There are several hazards for little ones on the property. The cabin is perched atop a rugged hillside with no fencing. The grounds are steep and the wild vegetation can be thorny. Inside the cabin, the stairway to the loft is long and has no mid-point landing. We recommend using the baby gate provided if you have small children.

We live on beautiful Orcas Island, the gem of the San Juan Islands, off the coast of Washington State. Our cabin is at the foot of Buck Mtn. facing southwest. Our location is private and peaceful. We are minutes from all the amenities of the main village- Eastsound - where one finds the grocery store, organic food coop, restaurants, movie theatre, retail shops, Community Arts Center and more! The property is one of the original homesteads of the island. Our orchard is one of the few surviving from 1895 - most of the apple and pear trees (30+) are still robust producers! The original foundation is just behind the cabin. The family (Langells) abandoned the house when electric power became available. Our new cabin was built by Orcas locals using local wood. We heat with in-floor radiant, as we enjoy the quiet and comfort of it - its wonderful in winter! We also took care to provide all the amenities, such as full size refrigerator, washer dryer, and dishwasher. The beds are very comfy. There is a picnic table for you to enjoy eating in the orchard, a porch to hang out on with outdoor rockers and lounging chairs, and a bbq is available. If your cellphone service is spotty, we have a land line with unlimited long distance. Wireless internet is also available along with a television and free streaming of Netflix, Hulu, HBO and You Tube tv etc. We have lived on Orcas for over 30 years (my husband, Jim, even longer) and raised our two kids here. We look forward to hosting you at The Cottage in the Orchard! We have an active vr permit with San Juan County.

We say our cottage is impeccable because in only 300 sq ft you have all you need in a spacious and elegant interior. Designed and renovated by an amazing local boat builder, every space was consciously created.

Our cottage kitchen is the shining example of how to blend efficiency and functionality. Featuring a full-sized electric Avanti stovetop and oven with a microwave mounted above, and a large stainless steel, modern sink, you can effortlessly make any meal. We've hosted guests for Thanksgiving that boasted how they did a full course meal with ease!
You’ll find plenty of kitchen gadgets, including a blender, hand mixer, cookware, and bakeware to create your favorite meals. Enjoy our coffee bar stocked with Pete's coffee, teas, stevia, sugar, and creamer, along with both a drip coffeemaker and French press, and a coffee grinder. We even have spices and oil in the cabinets! Plus, there’s a full-sized refrigerator with a freezer, and a stackable Blomberg washer and dryer—just note that there’s no dishwasher, so hand washing is required.

In the living room, relax on the comfy loveseat or swivel chair while enjoying views through the French doors to the deck and water beyond. Curl up with a throw blanket to stream your favorite movies on the Smart TV or play some board games. The sofa also has a pull-out twin bed with linens for an extra guest.

The queen bed is tucked into its own private nook, featuring a sturdy Captain's bed frame for extra storage and a small closet for hanging clothes. We even provide a small iron and board!

This well-built bungalow-style cottage overlooks Cascade Bay, offer a light, bright retreat from which to view the marina and gaze down the sound. The living quarters are on the upper level, featuring high-end wood floors throughout, a well-stocked full kitchen, spacious living area, and master bedroom with king-size bed. Your hosts have attempted to stock the kitchen with whatever you need to eat-in if desired, and take advantage of the incredible covered deck overlooking the bay. Or take advantage of the plumbed-in Weber grill on the deck.

Underneath the deck, also looking over the bay is a small Hotspring Spa that is available to guests.

The home is outfitted with high speed internet, Smart Roku TVs (just plug in the streaming service of your choice), including a 55" high definition TV upstairs and a 65" big screen TV downstairs.

The lower level of the home is a finished/converted garage. It is carpeted, offers a queen-sized bed, couch and big screen 65" TV. There is also another 4-person dining table, full bathroom with shower, and a full-sized refrigerator for extra food/beverage storage. Please note: The downstairs is NOT heated. In the summer, this is rarely an issue, and it could theoretically be used in the winter as well, since it is always warmer than outside, but if you are renting in a cooler season, or have any questions about using the downstairs area, please contact us! It's a great extra space to utilize, but it can get a little chilly in the winter.

Erehwon Bayside is located about 30 minutes from the Orcas ferry landing and about 15 minutes from the village of Eastsound.

There are neighbors in the vicinity, so respecting the privacy and quiet hours in the neighborhood is always appreciated.
Quiet Hours: 10 pm to 8 am each day. Exterior Lights are turned off at night to reduce light pollution.

As a home base, our location is both beautiful and convenient! 🌳 You'll have the entire home on a fully fenced half-acre filled with trees and gardens. The main bedroom features a comfortable Queen bed, quality linens, and a walk-in closet. On the lower level, the 'Flex Room' also has a Queen bed, a Smart TV, an Emmes chair, and a lovely armoire/dresser set. Both rooms share a custom bathroom with a live edge countertop and a custom-tiled shower, plus plenty of fresh towels and guest amenities.

A spacious guest bathroom with a vanity is conveniently located at the top of the stairs for common use. Enjoy remote work with our excellent WiFi connection, offering speeds of 50mbps+. The dining room table seats six, providing ample space for work or kids' schooling.

There are five free EV chargers within walking distance! Just 100 ft down the road, you'll find two charging stations at the Orcas Community Center, two at the Island Market parking lot, and one on Haven Street. You can also bring your own conversion setup and extension cord for use with an exterior 110v plug at Madrona Pointe House.
