- "Loved the hotel. Beautiful rooms. Bathroom and bedroom doors dont work well bumping into each other. And not enough seating at breakfast but food was great. Will definitely be back" - "Ground floor comfortable spacious suite. " - "From beginning to end our stay was comfortable, we called ahead to see what time check in would be and since the room was ready early we were give the chance to check in early which is rare at hotels these days. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady at the front desk she made it very comfortable at check in. Was told about all the amenities which is also rare unless you ask about them. We got into our room and wow it was clean and had all we needed to make our stay a wonderful one. At checkout we were also treated kindly. Just a great place to stay I know it’s new I hope the staff continues to care and keep it nice and clean for our future stays. "

Come and enjoy our European rustic, loft style cottage, nestled on ten bucolic acres in the Cascade foothills. We have a quarter mile long driveway that crosses our bridge to where you will find your getaway home centered in the woodsy magic of Singing Dog Farm.
The Cottage is elegantly finished with stucco walls, open beams, fir, oak, granite and marble flooring. The home is exceptionally warm and inviting and is the perfect place for adults to relax and enjoy a day in the country.
The master bedroom has a Jacuzzi tub where you can turn on the propane fireplace and lay back and enjoy the overhead skylight, a movie or rock out to music. There is a firm, queen sized mattress in the master bedroom. The master bath has heated marble floors and an exquisite walk in marble shower, as well as its own skylight and in-ceiling speakers.
There is a second bedroom and mud room/guest bath downstairs and a quarter bath upstairs.
The upstairs loft living area has a spacious and open feel. The living area is furnished with plenty of comfortable seating and a good sound system. There is a writing desk where you can sit and seek inspiration from the world, or watch the horses outside the window. French doors open from the living area to a small, cozy deck to enjoy your morning coffee and greet the day.
The upstairs also has a full kitchen with a gas range, all marble counters and a copper sink with copper pans hanging from above the island. The dining area has comfortable seating for four.
The outside grounds are mostly in pasture where our Friesian horses can often be seen galloping for reasons only they can understand, but which we appreciate for the opportunity to enjoy their aristocratic beauty and flowing manes and tails.
The compliment of our four Golden retrievers are on full time as staff members. They are always quite pleased to share their sage wisdom, listen knowingly and attentively to your troubles or just lick your face.
The Cottage has all zone heating, with separate controls in each room. The entry way has heated marble flooring. We have a fair selection of board games and movies as well as satellite TV channels and crappy satellite internet via WiFi. There is a washer and dryer in the mud room.
Just some additional notes, we strive to keep the cottage pristine, so we do ask that it remain, as much as practical, a shoe free home. A bench or stool is provided in both entrances to ease this transition. We also feel that our cottage and property is not suitable for children even when they are attended by loving and amazing parents. The staircase is steep and is all hardwood and the farm itself is not in any way child proofed. In choosing our decor we also knew that while more artistic for adults, the stucco finish and expansive use of soft wood trim is not very forgiving of children. Very sorry for any inconvenience and we hope you understand.
Chris and Teri do live on site. We completely respect your privacy and the layout of the grounds lends itself to protecting a sense of seclusion.
Please come and enjoy your stay!
- "This property is amazing! We love everything about it! Spotless, well decorated, well stocked, comfy beds, lots flowers, trees, horses. We came for the North Cascades, but we didn’t even want to leave the property. Love it love it! Thank you so much for sharing, Chris and Teri!" - "Had a lovely time. The property was beautiful and the directions from the owners regarding directions, the dogs, check-in, and check-out were straightforward and easy to follow. Cheers!"

Welcome to the SunRay Shire home of SunRay Kelley and Bonnie Howard. We are natural builders and our homes have appeared on MTV Cribs, Home and Garden Channel, in New York Times and Lloyd Kahn’s books Builders of the Pacific Cost and Tiny Homes.
We have hosted many travelers from all over the world in the unique structures on the land. The country quiet is only 10 minutes to the quaint town of Sedro Woolley and 15 minutes to city of Mount Vernon, home to the Lincoln Theatre and many excellent restaurants.
This rugged 9 acre property has walking trails, mountain views, gardens, apple orchard and many examples of handcrafted, sculptural homes and structures.
The Stump House ID#1541586 and Mush Room ID#1541712 are adorable little cold water cabins set in a stand of giant fir and cedar trees. Each cabin overlooks a different trout pond. Each cabin has electricity, cold water sink, tea station and wood fired heat in addition to electric heater November through April. The cabins each have a comfortable double bed. The Stump additional has an easy chair that fold out into a small single bed to accomodate a child or third guest. Bring your rain boots fall through spring as the trails get wet and muddy.
Guests are welcome to use and socialize in the beautiful outdoor kitchen located in the apple orchard. The cabins share an outdoor, composting toilet and outdoor shower house. The rustic nature of our property is not for everyone but those who are looking to unplug, reconnect with nature and enjoy whimsical creations will not be disappointed. If you have mobility issues our property is not a good choice for you as the parking area is at least a 100 yards away from the cabins and requires a walk down an earthen trail.
We are blessed to live in the forest on Cultus Mountain in North Western Washington. The trees, mountains, clean water, earth and air nourish us body and soul. Come breathe, relax and walk in the beauty of nature. Blessings to all from SunRay and Bonnie!
FYI: November to April wood fire is required in addition to the electric heat to keep the cabins warm and cozy. Wood fire heat takes time to start and to heat the cabin. To make your winter stay warm and comfortable good communication with us about your arrival time is essential!
Let us know your ETA, at least by the morning of your arrival, so we can schedule a fire starter for your cabin. Please update us if your plans change and confirm your arrival time when your GPS says you are 60 minutes away to have your fire lit and cabin cozy warm for your arrival.
Because guests are so frequently late we do not start your fire until you have messaged confirming your gps time of arrival when you are an hour away.
- "All the words, and no words to relay what our time was like in the SunRayShire. Simple, connective, rooting, enchanting, recalibrating, inspiring. So thankful for SunRay's creative visioning and Bonnie's (+crew) ongoing stewarding of this swath of forest. What a blessing. If you're even thinking about going, just do it. Your future self will thank you." - "My visit was exactly as I had hoped. The structures, people, animals, and area were marvelous. I had plenty of privacy in the little mushroom but I also felt welcomed by others on the property. The cats were great company."

The Sunshine House is located on Lake Whatcom's more private South Bay. Originally built 100 years ago as an office for a local coal mining company this 2 bedroom home has just been completely restored to a cozy, comfortable lakeside retreat with tons of character. We have created a space perfect for the most romantic getaways or a simple fun family escape.
Each of the 2 bedrooms sleeps four. One room has a queen and a bunk bed and the other has a full and a bunk bed.
Private dock to accommodate your boat and boat launch less then a minute down the road.
The bay is a no-wake zone which makes it great for swimming and paddle sports. A short idle out of the bay lends to great wake boarding, tubing and all other water sports.
The Sunshine House is only a 25 minute (beautiful!) drive to Bellingham which has great antique stores, amazing restaurants, whale watching tours, and at least 9 local breweries (they keep opening up!).
There is beautiful hiking all around us. Stimpson Family Trail (only 10 mins away) and The Pacific Crest Trail (20 mins) are just two great examples.
Mountain biking is one of Bellingham locals favorite activities and it is apparent when you ride up Galbraith Mountain, only 10 to 15 mins away!
Mt. Baker, which holds the world record for the most snow in one year, is only 38 miles away.
We have tons of fun parks including, Lake Padden, Whatcom Falls Park and Boulevard Park.
AND SO MUCH MORE!
- "We so enjoyed this property and are thankful that our two small dogs were able to join us. We all loved the large lakefront property and the use of the canoe too. Great location if you are looking for day trips into Bellingham. Comfortable bed and so peaceful we were able to fully unwind quickly. Most likely the cleanest VRBO property we have ever rented." - "Perfectly quaint, comfortable and relaxing. Great for our group with kiddos and a furry friend. Excellent communication with the owners. A member of our party left their laptop under a bed. The owners were quick to report back that it was there and work with us to return it. A fantastic stay all around!!"

We practically live on the dock and in the water, which is great for swimming. Don and Maribel are the best hosts and bend over backwards to make sure you enjoy your stay. Highly recommend!" - "We were a group of 6 seniors and spent 4 summer nights at this property. We do a trip like this every year, swimming/boating during the day and playing board games at night after dinner. Cain Lake is a great swimming lake. The kitchen is really well set up for cooking, with every kind of pot and pan I would ever use. Each couple cooked a dinner and we were all impressed with the kitchen. There are LOTS of plates, bowls, silverware, etc, really quite complete. The dining table is Italian and great for games. It has a cool built-in extension to make it larger, big enough to seat 8 people. Don and Maribel were easy to reach and quick to reply. Check-in was automated and very smooth. Neighbors on both sides were very friendly. Overall, a great experience."

Couch is nice and big for family hang outs. We had a great stay. Especially good location if you are planning to hop to Vancouver during your stay." - "Lovely quiet location. No need to deal with property manager so NA on communications. FYI - gate sign was hanging by a single screw when we arrived so needs fixing. Also we washed dishes on counter. Couldn’t start dishwasher because not enough tabs for the entire stay given our group size. Thanks!"

We remodeled our family cabin on Cain Lake in 2021 and started offering it to guests on VRBO.
Extra love was put into this place as it has been passed down the generations. Open concept from the kitchen to the dining room into the living room overlooking the lake. Extra family room perfect for game night. Venture outside to the large deck surrounded by bliss. Take it all in down at the large dock with views of the rest of the lake. This cabin is not perfect but it is dear to our hearts so please treat it like your own.

- "It was the perfect getaway for my husband and I! We thoroughly enjoyed the big detached deck - reading by day, star gazing at night. The space was open and cozy. Plenty of items for us to cook meals together. They have just about everything your at home kitchen probably has, outside of a microwave. There's a small building next to the main building with a washer/dryer, and an additional bathroom. There is wifi but no TV. We enjoyed not having a TV - There's several games to play, books to read and places to explore nearby. Would definitely come back!!"

- "Great hosts, nice place to stay. I stayed for 3 months & don’t have any problems or complaints." - "First off, we will definitely be staying again in the future. The location in the South cove of Lake Whatcom is breathtaking and mesmerizing. We had a blast exploring NW Washington but had just as much fun if not more hanging out lakeside while the kids swam off the floating platform or fished from the shore. We caught bass, trout, and dozens of yellow perch. The owners/hosts were amazing and very welcoming. They responded to my questions very quickly before we left AZ to start the trip. There were 2 paddle boards, 2 kayaks, and a couple child sized kayaks for us to use as well. Thank you Jan and family!! It was a very memorable trip for the entire family, even a teenager lol"

Would definitely stay again" - "Our three generation family members enjoyed a wonderful week in Sedro Woolley exploring the amazing area. There is plenty to do and see all year round within an hours drive!
Spring: The world-renowned Skagit Valley Tulip Festival runs the entire month of April and is known to have more tulips than all of Holland (or so I've been told, lol). We are located a short 30 minute drive from the beautiful fields.
Summer: Many guests stay for the easy access to the North Cascades National Park, located about 1 hour east of the cottage. It is a peaceful scenic drive that parallels the Skagit River. On the way, is Baker Lake, about 30 minutes east, known for great fishing. We are also a great lodging option if you are traveling the Cascade Loop Scenic Byway. To the north up Highway 9 is access to the Mount Baker Highway, which leads to beautiful waterfalls, hikes, and viewpoints. To the west along highway 20 are the towns of La Conner and Anacortes, both great for quaint shopping and dining experiences, whale watching tours, and charter fishing boats. Anacortes also hosts the ferry servicing the gorgeous San Juan Isalnds (ferry reservations required in advance especially in peak season). Highway 20 west will also lead you to my favorite park in the area, Deception Pass State Park, about one hour away. Views from the bridge connecting Fidalgo Island and Whidbey Island are breathtaking. There are many easy hikes with beach access once you're in the state park (Discover Pass required or Day Pass available).
Fall is a beautiful time to visit all the areas mentioned above especially points along the Skagit River if you enjoy bird watching. It's very common to see Bald Eagles soaring over the river and nesting in large "dead" looking trees.
Winter: Coal Creek Cottage is about 40 minutes west of the Mount Baker Sno Park, great for snowmobiling and a day trip to play in the snow. The Mount Baker Ski Resort is about an hour and a half away via Hwy 9 North. In addition to the ski slopes, there is a large sledding bowl, great for all ages! Come back to warm up at the cottage with the cozy fireplace and relaxing hot tub (coming first week in Sept. 2023).
We live in an absolutely gorgeous area with tons to do and see all year round! Please know Highway 20 through the North Cascades closes annually due to road conditions in the winter. It is usually open mid-spring through mid-fall, depending on weather/road conditions.
Guests have full access to the cottage with a separate driveway, private entrance, fenced yard, patio, and playset. Upon arrival, look for the circular Coal Creek Cottage sign. During your stay, please do not walk around areas of the property not listed above, thank you.
Our cottage is not ADA compliant but if you need zero-step entry or more room for parking, just message the host to arrange prior to arrival. Once inside, there are 2 steps up to the bathroom which features a walk-in shower.
We live across the driveway and can be reached most of the time in person. We are happy to come help with anything you may need! If you need something and we are not home, our housekeeper is two doors away to help as well. Messaging through the Airbnb platform is best, thank you!
Coal Creek Cottage is part of our 5 acre property. It's in the country 7 minutes east of Sedro Woolley on a quiet street that overlooks the Skagit River Valley. There are tall cedars and wildlife ranging from deer, elk, and various birds.
Due to being in the country, a vehicle is best for daily travel.
We live on 5 acres. We have horses, chickens, cats, and dogs. The dogs and cats are not always secure but not to worry, they are all friendly, especially our 1 and 1/2 year old mini Australian Shepherd named Freckles. She is high energy and likes to give "hugs" (she jumps up and wraps her paws round your waist, lol). We are careful to keep her close when guests are here but she occasionally gets out of our sight line. We apologize in advance of that happens! Please message if you'd like to pet the horses. They are friendly as well but the fence is electric and don't want anyone getting hurt.
-Do not leave pet(s) unattended, clean up after them, and keep them off the furniture please.
-Smoking/vaping is permitted outside only away from open doors and windows. Dispose of butts appropriately.
-Please take shoes off while inside.
-Upon check out, please load and start the dishwasher.
-Make sure lights are turned off, heat is set at 65 in summer (70 in winter), and doors are locked.
Thank you!

- "Nice location/ Great deck" - "Love the location and little cabin in the woods. Short drive up to Bellingham, retro decoration, quiet and peaceful." - "Cute cabin in the woods while still being in a neighborhood." - "I had a great stay here at this cabin, with it having everything that I was looking for in a rustic cabin stay. The cabin is pretty close to roads, so you will hear some traffic, but there are enough trees surrounding it that you still get that secluded feel. There are a few things not mentioned in the ad that I would have liked to have known prior to booking: The wood stove was amazing and there were even directions on how to use and maintain it. Unfortunately, there was nothing by the stove to start a fire (paper, kindling, wood, starter logs, clicker). Nor were there any directions on where to find any of those things. While searching for wood around the property (found behind the shed), I noticed 3 security cameras attached to the cabin. I found this to be excessive and would have liked to have been made aware of this beforehand. There was not one single box of tissues in the whole cabin and the bed I used was very, very firm. All that being said, the photo's are great representation of the cabin and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there."
