We live in a very peaceful and rural area of north central Vermont which provides a great mix of quiet and privacy, but is also with in an hours drive to most of the states interest points. There are 16 ski resorts within an hours drive, as well as breweries, State Parks, lakes and more. Fine dining is available within 30 minutes in multiple directions. Sitting at just over 1600’, we are in a unique microclimate that sometimes get a bit more snow than our surrounding towns. Our neighborhood is all tree lined winding dirt roads that weave along a tributary of the White River. Take a walk up the road to our closest neighbor who has a lovely Gotland sheep farm. The sheep and their guardian llama Alaska are typically grazing right by the road in front of the main barn. Kim is also a brilliant fiber artist and occasionally teaches various classes so please feel free to inquire about those if interested. Continue up the road to the dead end and turn left for breathtaking sunset views. If you're looking for something a little more sweaty, grab your bike or head out on a run "around our block" (about 4.5 miles) that takes you around and down to the bustling river, then leads you on a steady incline to an enchanted foot trail that winds up the hill and back around to the top of our road. Dirt roads abound and we're happy to help you figure out a path to explore =) We are also close to several snowmobile trails should you be inclined to stay with us while traveling the VAST.

Hikers will enjoy the proximity to the Appalachian Trail. The closest AT trailheads are Glencliff Trail to summit Mt. Moosilauke (15 mi. NE) and Mt. Cube Trail to summit Mt. Cube (19 miles SE). Many other local hikes off the AT are close by, including Wright's Mountain in Bradford Town Forest (10 mi W) and Black Mountain in North Haverhill (10 mi N)
In addition to the river, there is swimming at Piermont Pool, an old-fashioned waterhole fed from mountain streams. There is also a public beach with swimming at nearby Indian Pond.

Even though the neighborhood is quiet you are still close to places like Lincoln, Franconia, Littleton, etc. So, if you want the peace and quiet of the Whites, yet want to enjoy the touristy stuff, this is the perfect place. Also, extra amenities "in case you forgot". That was a great touch! Highly recommended!!"

Step away from it all into the quiet mountains of old Vermont where you'll find our tiny cottage nestled on the banks of our year round brook. Her melody changes throughout the seasons but she is almost always there to enchant you with her music. Sway in the hammock by your private waterside fire pit or head inside to curl up on the couch and revel in a sublime, uninterrupted view of the forest. This space beckons you back to simplicity, to our roots, where you can breath deeply and let your soul smile.

We live in a very peaceful and rural area of north central Vermont which provides a great mix of quiet and privacy, but is also with in an hours drive to most of the states interest points. There are 16 ski resorts within an hours drive, as well as breweries, State Parks, lakes and more. Fine dining is available within 30 minutes in multiple directions. Sitting at just over 1600’, we are in a unique microclimate that sometimes get a bit more snow than our surrounding towns. Our neighborhood is all tree lined winding dirt roads that weave along a tributary of the White River. Take a walk up the road to our closest neighbor who has a lovely Gotland sheep farm. The sheep and their guardian llama Alaska are typically grazing right by the road in front of the main barn. Kim is also a brilliant fiber artist and occasionally teaches various classes so please feel free to inquire about those if interested. Continue up the road to the dead end and turn left for breathtaking sunset views. If you're looking for something a little more sweaty, grab your bike or head out on a run "around our block" (about 4.5 miles) that takes you around and down to the bustling river, then leads you on a steady incline to an enchanted foot trail that winds up the hill and back around to the top of our road. Dirt roads abound and we're happy to help you figure out a path to explore =) We are also close to several snowmobile trails should you be inclined to stay with us while traveling the VAST.

A six minute walk from the lake and 23 minutes to Dartmouth College or to the Ski-way, our VRBO includes a 1000 square ft room in a lovely garden setting. This separate house built onto ours has a private entrance, hardwood floors, radiant heat in winter, large windows, a private kitchen and bath, and garden views. There are 2 queens and a twin bed in the loft, along with a queen futon downstairs in the living room. The 3 spacious sleeping areas in the loft each have a dormer window.
The space
Our place was designed for music gatherings and over night guests with social ambiance in mind. But the large room also serves as a quiet environment for just one or two people to relax, read, meditate, watch movies or work. There are stairs leading up to the wall to wall carpeted loft with three alcoves for sleeping areas. We provide folding Chinese screens for additional privacy. Each alcove has a window view. We are only minutes away from Dartmouth and the many cultural gems and natural beauties in the area. We welcome people from all backgrounds.

FYI, unless your server is Verizon cell phone signal is unreliable here. However you can use your phone through Wifi. The Wifi signal is good here and many guests work remotely from our Airbnb.

SUMMER: We encourage people to explore our 3 acre grounds and flower gardens. There are outside chairs, cushions and tables that are easy to relocate as the sun shifts. Guests have access to two road bikes in good condition and two kayaks secured down at the lake. There is a dock very close by for swimming, or you can take a 5 minute drive to the town beach, Treasure Island. There you'll find dressing rooms, a life guard, picnic tables, canoe rentals, and a pleasant community atmosphere.

WINTER INDOORS: Viewing winter fields and woods from our warm interior of verdant plants and natural light creates a great setting for a cold weather retreat. It’s perfect for meditating, study or work, and the apartment is large enough to include space for yoga with mats and meditation cushions for two. Or just curl up with a book from the large selection in our library.

WINTER OUTDOORS: For natural beauty and winter exercise, you can cross-country ski on beginner trails through the neighborhood woods and fields straight from our door. Or take a quick walk down to Lake Fairlee and ice fish with the locals. Ten miles east in Lyme, NH there are beautiful cross-country ski trails with beginning to advanced levels. You can also find good down-hill skiing in Lyme at Dartmouth Skiway. A fifteen minute drive north brings you to Lake Morey, famous for the largest groomed ice skating trail on any lake in the Unifed States. For the adventurous, the Post Mills airport offers year-round balloon rides.

WINTER, NIGHT LIFE AND CULTURE: Hanover NH (home of Dartmouth College) and White River Junction provide a wealth of night life and artistic inspiration. The Fall/Winter calendar goes into full swing starting in September with high calibre theatre and concert productions all the way to May — not to mention some very fine restaurants. Check out Northern Stage in White River Junction and the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth in Hanover.

GUITARS: We are also the site of Vermont Instruments where George has run a school for building acoustic stringed instruments since 1982. Two of his fine guitars are always in the apartment for guest use and we encourage musicians to practice here. We also welcome guest visits to the guitar shop where you can see the craft of lutherie in progress.

Summer Activiites: Hang out at the lake; mountain bike/ATV; Lost River, the Basin, Flume Gorge, hike part of the Appalachian Trail, visit Clark's Bears or Santa's Workshop (amusement parks), spend a day at the water park in Woodstock, take a Moose tour or hire a river outfitter, take the Cogway up Mount Washington or the aerial tram up Cannon Mountain.

Fall Activities: Visit an apple orchard, just five miles away; Cider Tasting In Stowe; Hike to Artist's Bluff, Lonesome Lake, or one of the other many hiking spots for a picnic with a view; Ride ATVs or mountain bikes; Drive the Kancamangus and stop at Cheese Louise for an artisan grilled cheese; stop for a homemade pie from the Jam Shack on the way to Woodstock; have a beer flight at Woodstock Inn; make smores around the campfire

Winter Activities: Enjoy the views! Go snowmobiling or dog sledding; go ice skating, ice fishing on the lake; get your tree at the local Christmas tree farm (2 miles away); skiing and snowboarding at local ski resorts; cross country skiing; visit the Ice Castles in Lincoln (30 minutes away).

For winter, there is electric heating and a wood burning fireplace and the home is very comfortable. For summer, there is a portable air conditioning system upstairs which keeps it very comfortable and fans in the bedrooms. Downstairs it stays a good ten degrees cooler than upstairs, but there are a few nights a year where it feels kind of sticky in the summer. In the fall, it's perfect without air conditioning or heating.

Peaceful waterfront chalet. If you are looking for a cozy and rustic chalet in a calm environment with a private access to the lake right in the White Mountains ….. Search no more, you have reached your destination. Bring your own paddle or use our pedal boat to wander around the lake. With the rent you have access and can enjoy the nearby beach with kids’ playground, Swimming pool, Basketball court and tennis court. Relax, read, fish, listen to the loons - a perfect get-away to completely unplug. Grill, hammock, and fire-ring by the water's edge.

- "Lovely cottage on a pretty lake. The lake is not that small, but farily quiet with very few boats (I did not see any motorboats at all, even electric ones—just kayas and pedal boats). The property comes with access to a nice beach down the road, but we never bothered—we just stepped in off the dock or off our SUP. " - "The view from the lake house was the highlight of the stay, however there are many improvements needed that we hope the host makes. The walkway down to the house was treacherous, with a large ditch in the middle and only 1 working motion sensor light (anyone elderly or with a physical impairment would NOT be able to walk down). The back steps to the water were the same, no guardrail and the steps were hollow with slippery moss in the middle. There was one roll of toilet paper, 1/2 roll of paper towels, and no trash bags (we had to come out of pocket and buy all 3 to last our stay). There were cobwebs in every room, the windows/sliding door were so dirty we had to clean them to enjoy the view, and we found a McDonalds cheeseburger in the microwave when we went to use it (no idea how long it had been there). The lights over the loveseat were broken, the dishwasher leaked red fluid onto the floor (?), and the oven smoked excessively when in use. The 2nd and 3rd top steps to the loft were loose and my boyfriend’s mother almost fell on them. The bearbox was full of trash from a previous stay, which left barely any room for our trash (4 small bags). There should also be a warning that a 4-wheel drive vehicle was needed, as the roads to the house were barely drivable with our SUV. Overall, the view was phenomenal and the house has so much potential; we hope improvements are made for future bookings. "

Our pet friendly cabin has nearby lake access. It has an open floorplan with a full kitchen, cozy gas fireplace, outdoor firepit and grill, three private bedrooms, and one split bath. It is a perfect place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee before finding your next adventure.

Layout: One queen room downstairs, one queen room upstairs, and one room with two twins upstairs. The bath is spit with the tub/shower in one room off the kitchen and toilet off the living room. Livingroom includes a gas fireplace. Kitchen has a full-size stove, small dishwasher, and fridge, basic kitchen supplies, and coffee/cocoa bar. Outdoor area includes porch, small porch off upstairs queen, backyard grass area, fire pit, and gas grill.

Evenings can be spent roasting marshmallows from Adirondack chairs around the fire pit (firewood provided) or playing ping pong in the basement. If you enjoying cooking, you will love our well-appointed, open plan kitchen with breakfast bar and country-style dining room table. There is also a large picnic table and gas grill for outdoor dining with complimentary views of the Milky Way, and during the day your kids may enjoy exploring the brook or pond, playing board games, flying high on our rope swing or curling up with a book from our extensive children's book collection. If you need to stay connected, we have now installed high speed fiber optic service so you can work from away without interference from weather or external users. And you will find a level 2 EV charger to ensure you have plenty of charge in your electric vehicle to explore the surrounding area. This is a delightful spot to enjoy the quiet beauty of Vermont in any season.
