- "This was a wonderfully cozy house with plenty of space for our large party. It was also conducive to our gatherings of game nights or wine nights on their living room sofas. The beds were comfortable. One thing is that the stairs to get up to the top of the house are very steep. Fine for young groups but elderly might want to be cautious, even with the railing."

Would recommend!" - "I spent two days with my kids (18 and 20 years) at Beth's place and had great time! Very conveniently located in Montpelier, allows for easy access for a bunch of ski resorts as well as the convenience of being in a city with good restaurants. Beth was just fantastic from the minute we booked the house. She waited to show us the house, which is very convenient for a group (3 spacious bedrooms). - "We loved the location of the property. It had beautiful vistas and was very conveniently located to downtown Montpelier as well as for exploration of that area of Vermont. Beth was very helpful with suggestions and very responsive to our questions." - "Really nice place and location. Thank you !" - "Very nice stay and Beth was fantastic in every way." - "I stayed for about 10 days in June/July of 2019 in the small apartment above the garage. It was just me for most of the time, but my partner joined me for a few days. It was just the perfect size, and could accommodate more (maybe 3, or two couples who are good friends, or a small family) since there is an additional small comfy bedroom with a door separating the studio-like space. There is a full kitchen, equipped with much of what you need to cook and serve meals. Since it was summer, Beth provided a portable air conditioner that kept the space lovely and cool. The big picture window near the kitchen welcomes the day with a pleasant view. There is a couch/bed in the main studio space and a comfy chair and barstools at the counter space. I was very comfortable and felt at home in the space. If you're considering staying in the apartment, I would say GO FOR IT. Beth is delightful, Montpelier is lovely, and the space is quiet and comfortable."

Thank you Best wishes Tim and Clare" - "This cottage was perfect for my wife and I as we were looking for a centrally located base in Vermont for a family destination wedding in the area as well as for side trips to the Von Trapp complex and the Ben and Jerry's factory. There's a very efficient air conditioner in the main room, but the breezes blowing through the suite were perfect for sleeping most nights. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was quite functional, especially an awesome countertop convection over. I also learned how to use a French press coffee maker! - "Clean, spacious home. Family had a great time. Easy drive to downtown Montpelier." - "A long-awaited get-together of high school buddies and two wives (total 5 people), along with two pups. House was exactly as described, and really beautiful. Close to Montpelier center, which has great shopping and restaurants. We also went glass-blowing (20 minutes away), and the menfolks went on a great hike with the pups. The management company was very responsive to a relatively minor household issue (top bedroom heat baseboards were not working) - they sent a specialist out, who fixed it in short order. Would love to stay here again."

- "This seems to be a family home that is being used as a rental. As such, it has all the amenities that you might be used to having. There is every kitchen gadget imaginable, and lots of staples like spices. There are lots of board games, plenty of sitting space and place settings for our family gatherings. We were comfortable and happy there. Note, that it isn't super close to down town, but it is beautiful and pastoral. The hosts were very responsive to a minor issue with checking in."

What I love about Montpelier:
Charming, historical and friendly!!!
Art.
Adventure: Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, snowshoe, ice skate, hunt, fish, swim and more...
Live music! (Bent Nails Bistro, Charlie O's (pool tables), Positive Pie, Hugo's) You can almost always find live music in Montpelier on a Thursday thru Sunday.
Pristine air and water!
Montpelier has wonderful locally owned shops and restaurants, and a distillery (Barr Hill), an organic winery (Montpelier Vineyards), amazing bakery/coffeeshops (Capital Grounds is my favorite), and a chocolatier (Rabble Rouser)!
- "Checkin was a breeze and all that we needed was made available to us. The place was within 5minutes of local eateries and close to roads connecting to other towns. We had a very lovely and peaceful weekend. Thanks again Tracy." - "We stayed at the apartment while skiing at Stowe (40 min drive). The unit was very clean with plenty of room for our family of six to spread out. One bedroom does not have complete privacy but was fine for our teenage son. It is a shared unit and you do hear the other families at times. The owner was helpful in answering our questions."

The host has ensured that all creature comforts are available in the house, with simple instructions on where things are, recommendations for local restaurants and easy clean up at the end of our stay. The host was very easy to contact and she was quick to respond. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a cosy get away in a beautiful part of the world."

- "This was our first family vacation to Vermont, and we chose River St House duplex in Montpelier as our base for a week of hiking and scenic drives. It worked out great! The property was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. It is about 1 mile from the small downtown area where we ate breakfast and dinner, and about 1/2 mile to an organic food co-op where we found pre-made sandwiches and deli foods to take on our hikes for lunch. Our host was very responsive to our questions about the property so we knew what to expect when we arrived. In addition, she quickly provided access information on my cell phone when I had trouble receiving it from the Vrbo site. A small electric heater in the living room was enough to keep the house temperature comfortable in the early fall weather, and small fans in the bedrooms provided some air movement and white noise to mitigate occasional sounds from traffic and the neighbors. We slept well and thoroughly enjoyed our first vacation to Vermont!"

In fact, we have taken great pains to create a space that is simple, clean, and uncluttered — a space in which to relax while you work on that novel, make gourmet food and enjoy meals with family and friends — and a homebase while you explore the city and all the area has to offer.

The house sits atop a forested hill on a spacious corner lot surrounded by mature ash, oak, birch and maple trees in an accessible and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood — adjacent to historic Hubbard Park, downtown Montpelier and just a short commute to the Amtrak station. So, while we’re relatively close to downtown (less than a mile to the city center), we’re also near heavily-forested Hubbard Park — so it is not at all uncommon to see a variety of wildlife (deer, chipmunk, crows, skunk, fox, the occasional black bear and woodchuck). In fact, a family of woodchucks live in a den on the west side of the property. When startled, they emit a shrill, high-pitched whistle sound. And while harmless, they can be a nuisance when they help themselves to our garden! We do not allow guests to receive mail at the house address. We recommend guests get a post box at the USPS, the UPS Store or Fedex Store.
