The apartment is located in Chicago’s Clearing neighborhood, a quiet, residential area on the city’s southwest side just minutes from Midway Airport. The community has a suburban feel, with tree-lined streets, brick homes, and a family-friendly atmosphere where neighbors walk dogs, kids play outside, and most blocks feel safe and well maintained. Essentials like grocery stores, restaurants, and retail are close by, and parking is generally easier here than in busier parts of the city, with street parking readily available. While the proximity to the airport makes travel especially convenient, it can also bring some airplane noise, though most residents say it’s minimal once indoors. Public transit options are accessible, and downtown is reachable with a bit of planning, making the area a comfortable, convenient place for both short and extended stays.

Getting Around:
Public transportation is convenient and straightforward: several CTA bus routes, including the 52 Kedzie and 52A South Kedzie, stop nearby and connect you north toward the Orange Line train, while the 63rd Street bus runs east–west for added access. The closest CTA “L” option is the Orange Line, with Midway Airport station just about a 5-minute drive or a short bus ride away, providing a direct 25-minute train ride into downtown Chicago. Buses run regularly throughout the day, especially during peak hours, making it easy to reach the airport, connect to the train, or travel into the city without needing a car.

We arrived with the house cleaning finishing up so we knew that it had been done. The house has been updated quite a bit and care has been taken with appliances and bathrooms. We liked the fact that each of us had our own bedroom and did minimal bathroom sharing. If you have allergies, ask if the carpet has been replaced before staying here. Our folks with allergies had a very hard time due to the old carpeting upstairs. Also, while close to the airport which is a bonus, the neighborhood isn't so safe after dark."

The entrance has steep stairs, which might be difficult for some, and the location felt a bit off at first—just something to be aware of. However, she became very particular about her guest needing to clean up any little issue, quite negative about anything that was even very slightly out of order, and made the experience quite unpleasant. One big "no no" was to restrict use of the stove top burners that were listed as "amenities" on the listing page. Again, I think a lot of this had to do with being a brand new host and figuring out how to accommodate her guests so that they would want to stay in her home again. I think she will make the necessary changes and be a great host in the future!"
