During the Spring, Summer and Fall relax on the large outdoor deck while enjoying the quiet ambiance and country air. The perfect place for a summer barbecue. You may also get a glimpse of deer walking by.
We have a permanently installed 12 X 12 foot gazebo on the deck that provides shade as well as protection from inclement weather.
Rental of the property also includes use of the 110 acres of land that the house sits on. There are many trails to hike.

This is a beautiful, private and spacious home in Cairo that we call Casa Montaña which translates to Mountain House.
The house is surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and is set on 2 acres on a long private road. There is a large multi level sun deck in the back of the house, with an outdoor shower, and a screened in furnished gazebo. The front has a long balcony with spectacular mountain views. There are plenty of quiet spaces and nooks where you can relax and read a good book or take a little nap.

Casa Montaña was built to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while being indoors all year long but especially during the winter months. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee while birdwatching cardinals, hummingbirds, blue jays and other gorgeous birds all while inside the popular four seasons room. At night, you can star gaze from inside or out while you enjoy a glass of wine or a hot cocoa by a roaring fire.

Cooks will enjoy cooking in our fully equipped kitchen that includes a great cookbook collection and an open dining area over looking the back decks. The kitchen has a 12 foot Island where you can watch the cook prepare dinner or cook together.

Take a walk on the property and you will encounter wild flowers, large pines, and stunning 360 degree mountain views and if you're lucky, maybe you'll see a family of deer, rabbits or wild turkeys. There are a several peaceful spots to sit with a book along the rock wall and a small brook to enjoy during warm months. In the winter, you can snow shoe around the property.

There are 3 en suite bedrooms with comfortable beds and pillow top mattresses. All linens and towels are provided. The master suite has a soaking tub and a queen size bed with an amazing view of giant pine trees and you can watch the sunrise right from the bed!
The 2 comfortable guest rooms have full sized beds and lead right on to the balcony and spectacular mountain views. In addition to the 3 bedrooms, There is a queen size pull out sofa bed as well as a twin size pull out sleeper in the large living room. In addition to that, there is a large Sun room with a queen sized bed and feather top mattress that uses a portable heater in winter months and portable fans during the warmer months. In this room you will feel like you're sleeping in the woods with it's 8 foot windows. The house can comfortably sleep 11 guests in beds and has an outdoor shower (a must!) to enjoy in the summer months.

The living room is large with an amazing wood burning stove set in a double sided stone wall. There is a dvd player, a flat screen tv a blue tooth tower speaker/ radio and a video library as well as many games for children and guests of all ages to enjoy. In addition, we have books and magazines for you to enjoy.

You are surrounded by nature everywhere here at Casa Montaña or enjoy one of many mountain or Hudson River hikes near by.

There is a unique feeling of seclusion here at Casa Montaña, but the rest of the world is just a short distance away. We are near Windham and Hunter Mountain Ski Slopes (16 - 20 miles). You can go antiquing in Hudson or head to Woodstock for a great lunch or dinner. The light house in Saugerties is nearby and you can Kayak or take a dip in the river while exploring the light house in the warmer months. Our home is very tranquil and you can truly unwind here with all the comforts of home. We know that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Catering is available upon request. For an additional fee, you can have the refrigerator filled with your favorite foods or fresh home cooked meals or maybe a welcoming cheese and fruit platter with a glass of bubbly.

We visited during the summer, but the house seems to be a great place to visit during the winter too! The 3 season porch and the outside screened porch were our favorite places to hang out when at the house. The kitchen is fully equipped and had plenty of space for cooking meals. Not many restaurants in the immediate area, but found great places to eat in the surrounding communities. This was a family vacation with our adult kids. Rooms were small but comfortable. The kids loved not having to share a bathroom, as there are 3 in the house. We enjoyed our stay!"

We kindly request your cooperation in keeping outside doors closed whenever possible to minimize the chances of outdoor creatures finding their way indoors. Our commitment to your comfort includes creating a balance with nature, and your understanding and cooperation contribute to a harmonious stay in our idyllic countryside retreat.

PETS:

Dogs are warmly welcomed to our house, but we kindly request that you inform us if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along. While we appreciate your love for your pets, we would like to maintain the pristine condition of our new furniture and decor. Therefore, we ask that dogs refrain from being on the furniture or beds. Please be aware that you will be responsible for any visible wear or damage caused by your dogs. OUR MAXIMUM ALLOWANCE IS 2 SMALL DOGS, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a pleasant and well-maintained environment for all our guests.

REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE:

We are unable to guarantee against mechanical failures in heating, air conditioning, appliances, TVs/media equipment, or spa. Please promptly report any malfunctioning equipment to us. We will make every reasonable effort to arrange quick and efficient repairs. If the issue persists after phone instructions from our team, we may dispatch a maintenance service professional. While we strive to address maintenance issues promptly, we cannot guarantee that repairs will be completed during a guest's stay, as we may need to navigate home warranties. Rest assured, we are committed to exploring alternative solutions to ensure and prioritize guest comfort.

Our house is a mere 25-minute drive to Kaaterskill Falls, 20-minute drive to Windham Mountain and approximately 30 minutes to Hunter Mountain. Perfect for winter enthusiasts, the location is ideal for skiing, sledding, and snowboarding.
In the fall, immerse yourself in the stunning foliage on hiking trails, and during spring and summer, explore nearby swimming holes, go hiking, antiquing, and visit local farms & vineyards.
Venture a bit further about15-minute drive to discover an even wider array of options, including J&J Smokehouse BBQ, The Avalon Lounge, La Conca D'oro, 394 Main, New York Restaurant, Cone E Island Ice Cream, and much more.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Kaaterskill Wild Forest, just 25 minutes away, offers some of the best hiking in New York State, with trails catering to all levels and enjoyable throughout the seasons.
If you crave winter sports, Windham Mountain awaits with 85 skiable acres, 54 trails, 6 terrain parks, and 11 lifts. Hunter Mountain, a bit further, boasts 320 skiable acres, 67 trails, 13 lifts, and a nearly 1000 feet long tubing hill, perfect for family fun. In the summer, indulge in Zume Flume Water Park or explore North-South Lake Campground (just 30 minutes away) for canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and playgrounds for the little ones. This is our weekend home. House fully furnished, surrounded by woods, offering privacy and yet near to everything to fully enjoy your get away. The large deck, gazebo, custom built barbecue with oven are great for entertaining all year around. Pool in the summer to cool in hot days.
To enjoy mountain , 10 ml to Hunter Mountain or Windham, 15 minutes to Hudson and Amtrak Station. Numerous hiking trails and golf courses nearby. Great restaurants, many Farmers Markets.

House, yard, pool and barbecue are dedicated to guest only!
Property is maintained on regular bases regardless of occupancy, as grass cutting, gardening and feeding the animals if any. Guest maintain the pool during the stay.
Security cameras around the house. For guest privacy, there is privacy screen in all areas commonly used by guests.

**We highly recommend guests travel in an AWD or 4x4 vehicle during the winter months, as snow and icy conditions can make roads challenging.**

TInformation and special rules on specific parts of the house are written below, so you can easily understand where things are located and how to use them safely.
• Cleanliness is a priority, so please remove shoes when in the home.
• The house uses well water, while it is safe to drink, people may prefer to drink bottled water. We recommend stocking up on bottled water from the local store.
• There may be some canned goods and other imperishable foods in the kitchen pantry which you are free to use as you wish. Always check the expiration date before eating anything. We always make sure not to leave expired food in the house, but oversights may happen. We believe in the “Leave what you can, take what you need” idea.
• There are designated trash disposal areas. Please refrain from throwing any trash, such as bottle caps or cigarette butts on the property.
• Please be sure to separate the recycling from the garbage (see info sheet in binder). There is a one disposal bin for each in the kitchen. When you leave, please put them in the appropriate cans outside near the garage.
• Garbage pick up is on Wednesdays. Please make sure you have garbage outside in the cans.
• There is a folding table along with folding chairs in the basement closet next to the stairs if additional seating is needed.
• Never leave children unsupervised at our property without any adults, especially at the creek.
• Please make sure the children toys are cleaned up and put back where they were taken from. Be mindful of small pieces.
• Please make sure pool table, ping pong table and foosball table are put back the way you found them, and all pieces go back to the correct spot.
• Please do not move the furniture,
• Please be sure to ventilate the kitchen while cooking anything that could leave a strong smell behind. The stove uses propane which burns different than gas and tends to lead to burnt food. We recommend putting the stove on medium and not high.
• Be careful not to wash food remains down the drain. Please throw any kitchen scraps into the garbage cans. Be sure to wipe any grease from the pans to prevent it from going down the drain.
• To help the environment, please only switch on the dishwasher when it’s full and use the eco-program where possible.
• To simplify the inventory process, please return any kitchen items back to where you originally found them.
• Cleaning products are located in the kitchen closet near the bathroom. If any products run out during your stay, please let us know so we can replace them for the next guests.
• Please do not overload the washer/dryer.
• The optimum temperature for the thermostat is between 70-75°F in summer (for air conditioning) and 68-72°F in winter (for heating).
• The AC units are turned off from Nov. 1 – April 1st. If it gets too warm in the house, please open the windows.
• Please make sure you switch off lights, fans or any other small electrical appliances when you go out. The same applies to air-conditioning and heating – we’re an eco-friendly home!
• In the unlikely case of a power outage, the house has a generator that will start automatically.
• No compensation will be given for any temporary outage of electricity, gas, water, cable, or telephone service.
• Please dispose of garbage and recycling in the proper containers.
• Please do not flush any sanitary products down the toilet. We provide a bin for this in each bathroom.
• Please do not move any furniture from one room to another, this includes outdoor furniture.
• No bathroom towels are to be removed from the property.
• BBQ is located in the rear of the home on the ground floor. Be sure to turn on the propane located in the white box mounted on the rear of the house.
• Please clean the BBQ with the provided cleaning tool when done. Be sure to cover the grill with the provided cover once the
