- "We came in on Friday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday morning the following week. The place was great, not one negative. The privacy, the cabin with everything we needed, the ability to roam around and explore the property and beyond with Lacee and James nearby to answer any questions or help you out. We have nothing but great things to say about this place, definitely going to be back on the list in the future when we need to check out and take a break."

Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain. Or, watch for falling stars and search for constellations free of light and smog polution. The unobstructed views of the night sky are tremendous! You may plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. The comfortable couches are perfect to curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out sledding with the kids.
You will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, or a Pizza from the Saloon.
This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest and the Trail of 100 Giants. Be advised that last year’s fire devastated surrounding areas and some of the forest is closed for safety reasons.
You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

- "We just returned from the Kramers Meadow and the Piggly Pines Cabin. We went to celebrate our 21st Anniversary and it was perfect. The meadow is in full view from the Living room and the bedroom, and the sunrise viewed from the bed was exquisite! The cabin is beautiful and very well equipped. The commercial kitchen had everything we needed to create gourmet meals. The bed and bathroom were perfect for a couple, but the cabin can sleep four more and there is a bunk house available too. We explored the Sequoia Forest including Dome Rock, Needle Rocks, Camp Nelson and Sequoia Crest. It was sad to see the fire damage from back-to-back forest fires, but the forest is starting to recover, and Kramer Meadow was untouched. We will be back soon. Kramer Meadow is our new favorite destination! Don and Kim J."

- "Wonderful property! Remote yet easily accessible. Beautiful area with lots of outdoor activitie options. Hosts were very helpful and had everything we needed. Hope to visit again soon!" - "The cabin is great. Everything worked properly, the beds were so comfortable, lots of woods available for the wood stove to keep warm and everything was clean. The only thing I would point out is that you have to pay attention to the weather when going there. We got a snow storm and the roads were dangerous to get there and most were closed. We also got snowed in and spent the whole weekend in the cabin. It was great for us since it was what we wanted but if you plan to hike and drive around the mountains definitely do not go during the winter. Overall, this is a great place to stay if you go to sequoia np and don’t want to camp."

- "If you want a place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of people, then this is your place. Staying in this cabin in the middle of the woods was nice and relaxing, quiet, and refreshing." - "When it comes to staying in hotel/air b&b, Korean people are really keen and picky. Not only did Casa Pondo satisfy us, it also gifted us a good memory from all the nook and corners of the house. Kitchen/bathroom/ Rooms were clean and well decored with cute little things. We really liked the fact that wherever you take the photo, they come out really cute. The only downside was humongous moth/night bugs which the hostess doesnt have a controll of. Luckly we brought the bug catcher with a battery, it was okay. So a little ehads up. :) Sarah tipped me to go visit Nobe Young Falls and that was my faborate spot on this trip. Walking along a meadow-like little path, you find thos almost-magical little creek. So beaitiful!! We visited in July but there weren't many visiters, at least seemingly, it was really quiet. That was the best part for me :) My kid liked the star gazing at night as theres is ZERO light near by, which is impossible in the city. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the cute kitchen and it was even pleasant feelinas as i loved the plates and cup and almost everything. We wish we could go back in the fall AND winter again. Thank you, Sarah."

"We truly enjoyed our stay at Benjamin's cabin. Everything turned out better than even expected. The home was clean and tidy when we arrived. Extremely comfortable and well thought out. Located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument and central to numerous sequoia groves, trails, and recreational activities, the Sequoia Trails Cabin offers fun and relaxation for all ages. Private forest land gives you plenty of quiet and privacy, while its location right on the highway makes it easy to find and access. The cabin was fully remodeled in 2021 with modern furnishings, appliances, surfaces, and treatments. It is ideal for both a stopover on a Sequoia trip or for a longer stay.
The space:
The cabin is warm and bright, and nature can be observed outside all of the windows. The living room is painted to feel like you are inside a sequoia grove, enjoying the quiet majesty of the enormous tree trunks. The reclining chair in the corner is set up for relaxation and reading.
The kitchen and dining area are open to the living room and are set up to be modern yet retain the feel of a rustic pine cabin. Basic appliances, dishes, and utensils are available.
The master bedroom is light and combines rustic cabin trim with a modern king-sized bed with a firm mattress that is softened with memory foam. Night stands are provided. In the summer, a portable air conditioner is provided for warm nights, and a portable heater is available at all times. The T.V. In the room includes a Rocky device with a Netflix and Disney+ account available.
The second bedroom is flexible, depending on what you need it for. The original, built-in desk was reconstructed to match the warm, rustic pine trim found throughout the cabin and allows the room to function well as an office. The closet was converted into two child-sized bunk beds. There is a sofa bed in the room as well, as comfortable as we have ever seen one, that accommodates adults and teens who do not fit on the smaller bunk beds.
Both bathrooms are completely remodeled and modern. The river rock shower floors feel good on the feet after a long day of hiking the mountain trails or enjoying the yard.
More flexible space is available downstairs, where you’ll find another bedroom with one queen bed, ample closet space, and a second living room with a large sofa and small game table. On warm summer days, this is a great spot to get away from the heat. On cold winter nights, this space seems a little warmer than the rest of the cabin. A separate built-in heater is available in the downstairs bedroom for additional warmth beyond the cabin-wide system.
The deck outside of the living room has a table for four with an umbrella and a patio swing that seats up to three. IT is a great place to begin and end your day as you listen to the wind rushing through the trees and the sounds of the distant river. There are many rocks and trees for kids to climb on, a flat lawn to play games on, and several other spacious areas outside to enjoy nature in your own way. Next to the cabin, there is a baby Sequoia Tree, standing about 60 feet tall.
A laundry room next to the kitchen offers ample space to store boots and coats, and there is a washing machine and dryer for your use and convenience.
**Cabin has central A/C and heat!!
"Wow, what an amazing place to stay and relax. Loved the setup of the cabin, location, and how clean the property is. Great, amazing, family fun recreational areas down below in the Tule River. I’m definitely coming back next summer. Thank for having such a great cabin to stay Ben." - Francisco
- "First....cabin is absolutely gorgeous! The cleaning lady absolutely outdoes herself. Beds smell so fresh! The communication was phenomenal! We went during the natural disaster month and they helped us through it, made sure we were safe and once there was a possible evacuation announced, they worked with us through that. - "Place was great. It was a nice cabin. One of the best features was how spacious it was. Beautiful views out the windows and from the deck. Very cold the first night, but warmed up thru the weekend, especially after using the awesome fireplace. Needed more trash bags and perhaps paper towels. But all in all, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend and would love to go again." - "It was nicely remodeled with wall to wall wood flooring. Step back into time in this vintage with modern amenities cabin. Large living room to curl up by the fire, that looks into a spacious wet bar and dining room area. - "This cabin exceeded my expectations, beautiful home and property. Property offers plenty of privacy from neighbors, has that campground feeling. You can also see the pond from the deck. My grandkids loved the zip line and treehouse. The back of the house has a rocky incline you can climb with beautiful views. Owners are very generous and thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable and memorable. If you forget something, chances are you’ll be ok. Guest equity is really great, always answered my questions right away. It was a pleasure and we will be back. Thank you. 😊"

Stay in this new shipping container tiny home; in the tradition of Thoreau’s cabin in the Sequoia NF woods, come and immerse yourself in the forest, outside the door. The Aspenhof Cabin has a kitchen, toilet, shower, tv and wifi. Sit at the custom table where 2-4 can share a simple meal or work side by side on creative projects. Enjoy a stovetop, BBQ, and hot, running water. Relax by the campfire at the end of the day. Wake up in the forest where you can relax with the birdsong as the sun rises.
One goal I had when designing and building this was to create a magical place. I created an elevator, painted the northern hemisphere stars and constellations on the bedroom ceiling, made custom woodwork, and installed peaceful outdoor lighting to create a space that feels unique, relaxing, and magical. Our original BnB in Alpine had 5.0 stars, but burned to the ground in 2020 in the Castle Fire. We were inspired to build something completely new in a quaking aspen grove in nearby Ponderosa. This cabin has been custom designed and built as a new model of construction, to meet the needs of fire recovery, low income housing, and ecological design. It was designed and constructed to meet all the current and modern requirements. The space consists of an 8x20 bath/kitchen/dining area, an 8x20 bedroom with desk and wardrobe, and an 8x20 attic bedroom. The stairs to the attic are steep and not suitable for small legs or those who are unstable on their feet. The stairs are on a custom-made elevator lift to rise up into the attic when not in use. Attention to detail at every level is maintained. Custom woodworking, aspen leaf table and metal sculpture are highlighted.
LOCATION and FIRES
We are located at 7100 feet, between the burn scars of the 2020 Castle Fire to our north and the 2021 Windy fire to our south. While areas near the highway are burned, we encourage you to explore many fine trails to the Stagg Tree (the 5th largest of the world), other trails along Redwood Drive, Dome Rock, Trail of 100 Giants, Peppermint Creek, etc. We are happy to guide you to find your favorite adventure or peaceful perch. We regularly see deer, foxes, bear, eagles, hawks, and sometimes bobcats and Sierra newts.
If you have ever wanted to live in a tiny home and want to try it out first, we encourage 7-28 day stays so that you can fully enjoy and immerse yourself in tiny home living, forest living, and relaxing in solitude. Longer term discounts are significant - 4 day, 1 week, 28 day.
WEATHER and ROADS
The climate ranges from highs in the 70s, rarely 80s in the summer, and freezing with full snow coverage in winter. The snow is deep enough to build igloos/snow caves in winter but we have the driveway plowed after each storm for easy access. The roads can still be icy from December to May. You still need chains or 4WD and check ACTUAL road conditions since roads close, get washed out, and sometimes not plowed every day.
We are in the wild, with NO cell phone reception, so you need to plan ahead and have maps, directions, and common sense. You have to download the driving directions BEFORE you leave the city.
SHOPPING and GAS
The nearest shopping and gas are in Springville, Porterville, Kernville an HOUR down the hill so plan ahead.

• You might need to get your hands dirty by shoveling snow, plugging in plumbing heaters, or swapping out your own propane tank.
• This home is in a community of nice people so you need to act responsibly. No loud music, no parties, no bothering neighbors when you forget your snowchains, food, maps, etc.
• Quiet hours 10 pm to 8 am.
- "Enjoyed the outdoors, hikes, family time. Very relaxing." - "Location had access to many hiking trails and places to visit. The cabin is very neat and thoughtfully designed with plenty of space for my kids and I. Home is clean, beds comfortable and well stocked. Gregg and Lia were quick to respond and offered many local tips for places to see and are clearly very knowledgeable about the area. We really loved our stay here and would recommend if this area is somewhere you're looking to check out! It is a location that does not have reception for about 1 hour outside of the cabin, spotty even there, so preparing ahead is a must. Also, nearest gas station and market for food is about the same... Just make sure you download maps (there's wifi at the house but you have to get there), check for seasonal closures, fill up your car (you will want to explore the many dirt roads and beautiful areas right around the corner!) And bring plenty of food. There's enough to keep you busy nearby so heading back for those things is kind of a drag. Plan ahead and you're golden."

Step Into a Living Time Capsule: A 1910 Forest Cabin in the Heart of Sequoia National Monument
Tucked away among the ancient pines and granite ridges of the Sierra Nevada, this original 1910 cabin is not just a vacation rental—it’s a journey back in time. Preserved with care and rich in character, this historic mountain hideaway offers a rare and intimate glimpse into California’s early forest life, without sacrificing comfort. Set in the serene seclusion of the Sequoia National Monument, the cabin is surrounded by towering trees, whispering breezes, and a timeless sense of peace.
Where most people crowd into the well-trodden paths of Sequoia National Park, this cabin invites you to experience something more authentic, personal, and rare. Why jostle for parking spots and trailhead selfies when you can wake up among the giant sequoias, sip your coffee on the porch beneath the evergreens, and walk to majestic hiking trails right from your door? Unlike the National Park, the National Monument allows for private cabins like this one, offering a true mountain-living experience in the forest—something the park simply doesn’t offer. Here, you're not just visiting nature; you're living in it.
The Cabin
Built in 1910 and lovingly maintained for over a century, this cabin is a genuine relic of mountain heritage. The weathered wood siding, antique details, and simple craftsmanship speak to an era before modern luxuries—yet you’ll find the amenities here comfortable and well thought out. Every corner of this cabin has a story, and you can feel it in the hand-built walls, the rustic hardware, and the natural flow of the space. This isn’t a replica. This is the real thing.
Inside, you’ll find:
A rock-built wood-burning fireplace, the heart of the home, perfect for curling up with a book or enjoying a glass of wine after a hike. The crackle of logs and the scent of woodsmoke transport you to a simpler time.
Cozy vintage furnishings—warm, inviting, and intentionally simple. Everything from the antique light fixtures to the original windows helps maintain the cabin’s historic character.
A well-equipped kitchen, modest but functional, stocked with the basics for preparing home-cooked meals. Whether you’re baking cornbread or brewing a pot of coffee, the space is perfect for those who like to cook while surrounded by nature.
Comfortable sleeping arrangements, including a cozy main bedroom and a secondary sleeping space for guests or family. The bedding is plush, the linens are soft, and the forest views are unforgettable.
A full bathroom with hot water, clean towels, and thoughtful touches that blend rustic charm with the comforts of home.
The dining room walls hold a treasure trove of history, with handwritten messages and signatures from guests dating all the way back to 1910. You'll find heartfelt notes, family names, and even entries from soldiers returning home after D-Day, etched into the wood and preserved for generations. It's a living guestbook that brings the past to life in the most personal way.
Hot Tub Under the Trees
One of the most magical features of this property is the private hot tub, nestled beneath a canopy of tall pines and firs. After a day spent hiking through groves of giant sequoias or exploring the backroads of the Sierra, there’s nothing quite like sinking into warm, bubbling water with the scent of cedar in the air and the stars beginning to shine overhead.
This is relaxation the way it was meant to be: pure, natural, and immersed in the landscape.
Location, Location, Location – Why the National Monument is the Real Gem
The cabin sits within the Sequoia National Monument, a protected area of stunning natural beauty that shares its name and ancient trees with the more famous Sequoia National Park—but without the crowds. Here, the trails are quieter, the pace is slower, and the experience is more personal.
One of the Monument’s biggest draws is that it allows private cabins within its boundaries. That means while visitors to the National Park must drive in, navigate visitor centers, and stay in dense campgrounds or remote lodges, guests of this cabin are already in the forest—living among the giants. You can literally walk out the door and be among groves of giant sequoias within minutes.
Here are a few reasons why the National Monument offers a better experience for many travelers:
Fewer crowds – No need to line up for a shuttle or fight through tour groups. The trails near the cabin are tranquil, allowing you to enjoy the sequoias in peace.
Dogs are welcome – Unlike the National Park, where pets are restricted, the Monument is dog-friendly. Bring your pup along and explore together.
Bike-friendly trails – Cyclists are welcome on many of the Monument's backroads and trails. It’s an ideal place to ride under the towering trees.
Cabins in the forest – Experience the forest from the inside out. In the Monument, you can actually stay in a real cabin among the trees, something not available in the park itself.
Local charm – A short walk brings you to a local general store for supplies, and a rustic saloon where locals and travelers gather. This is not a tourist trap—it’s a real mountain community.
What’s Nearby
This cabin is a basecamp for incredible natural experiences, all within walking or short driving distance:
Giant Sequoia Groves – Towering, ancient trees just minutes away. Less foot traffic means better photo ops and a more intimate experience.
Slate Mountain Saloon – A local favorite with cold drinks and friendly conversation.
Camp Nelson Store – Stock up on snacks, drinks, and essentials.
Hiking Trails – Dozens of scenic trails wind through the Monument, from easy forest strolls to challenging summit climbs.
Mountain Biking & Horseback Riding – With open access trails and fire roads, there’s plenty of opportunity to explore on wheels or horseback.
Swimming holes and creeks – Cool off in mountain-fed streams or spend an afternoon lounging by a quiet riverbend.
Ideal For
This cabin is perfect for:
Couples looking for a romantic escape
Writers, artists, or creatives seeking inspiration
Families eager to introduce their kids to the forest in a safe, authentic way
Dog owners who hate leaving their pups behind
History buffs, nature lovers, and anyone craving solitude without isolation
Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, a weeklong adventure, or a remote work retreat with a Wi-Fi break, this cabin offers a completely unique stay.
A Few Things to Know
This is a historic home. It’s well cared for, but it was built in 1910—expect a few quirks and creaks.
Cell service is limited. We see it as a plus, but come prepared to unplug.
Winters can bring snow, and summers can be warm. Dress for the season and enjoy the weather like a local.
Please treat the cabin and forest with respect. This is a protected area, and your care helps preserve it for future generations.
The Cabin You’ll Never Forget
In a world where so much feels fast, crowded, and digital, this cabin is a rare opportunity to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with nature, history, and yourself. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s an experience, a mood, and a memory waiting to be made.
So come. Light a fire. Watch the wind in the trees. Soak under the stars. And let this forest time capsule remind you what stillness and wonder really feel like.
- "Our family wanted a summer style cabin with a few basic amenities in order to have quick access to the trail of 100 Giants and this was a truly remarkable and special place to stay. We loved observing all of the history physically written into the walls from 1910 and on The upgrades to the place made it modern and convenient enough while also feeling quiet, peaceful, and remote. The communication with our hosts was above and beyond with plenty of tips for how to navigate the area efficiently and with confidence. Would absolutely stay again. "

- "We had a great time staying at this property. Its located in a great location. Close enough to allow easy access to the area. Close to the entrance of Yosemite and close enough to Oakhurst. We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed over spring break. This year we reached the tail end of the snow. The owners made sure the driveway was plowed so we could get in and out around without problems. There is plenty to do if you get snowed in. We brought our four legged family members and they loved the cabin as well. The road makes a loop if you stay here and has a short walk around the mill pond which we enjoyed our daily walks around. The only thing visitors will have to worry about is to make sure you download your directions while you are at oakhurst as there is no cell service until you get on the wifi at the cabin. Its truly a beautiful property and management is quick to respond to questions or your needs. We dont get to this area very often but we will definitely stay here again next time."
