Most travelers only stayed a night or two, I guess between other locations, but staying longer was great. My only issue was that the walls are thin so it can get loud when other people check in. Really not a big deal, and the staff did a good job of spacing which rooms were occupied. Would happily stay here again!!"

The cabin is equipped with a Jennair dual fuel stove, hand held mixer, toaster, food processor, blender, coffee pot, coffee grinder and microwave. Enjoy table settings and seating for 8 at our large Tuscan country dining room table. You will enjoy sitting outside in the warm afternoon sunshine or relaxing on the covered porch with wood ceiling and outdoor ceiling fan. My husband & I traveled from the San Francisco Bay Area to visit his elderly mother who lives quite close to this cabin. It is always clean and well stocked, but when we arrived during a very cold snap, the heat had been turned on & it was nice & cozy, a very nice “Welcome” after a long drive. It also has always had everything we need, including coffee for the morning! We also had to make a change to our reservation at the last minute, and we were worried it might be a problem. But Johnny handled it kindly and quickly for us, no problem at all. We intentionally look for properties run by Johnny and stay at them whenever we can, knowing his properties will always be clean, well cared for and exceptionally comfortable, and that Johnny is a wonderfully accommodating host. Come visit the beautiful forest and breathe the fresh mountain air! Located in a peaceful mountain neighborhood with forest trails right out the back door — just 20 minutes to Lake Isabella, Kern River rafting, and 7 miles from Alta Sierra ski resort. The Trail of 100 Giants and the Sequoia National park are scenic day trips away (1.5–3 hrs).
Our family cabin is a two story gambrel in a quiet vacation neighborhood.There are two bedrooms with three full size beds, large closets, and a full bath upstairs.
Downstairs has a living room, small laundry area, 1/2 bath and full size kitchen.
There is a small balcony out front and the back opens to the Alta Sierra national forest park.
The rock pit out back is for show only as fires are not allowed on the property or in this area! The indoor fireplace can be used during the winter months only (bring your own duraflames).There is a remote on the mantle to control the smokeless candles for ambience in summer months. The entire home is heated nicely by thermostat controlled wall heating. The driveway fits two cars max. Parking is not allowed on the front of property.
There are security cameras in the front and back of the property.
The garage and the downstairs closet remain inaccessible to guests but the rest of the home and property may be enjoyed freely.
We do appreciate that you secure your pet in the kitchen area and clean paws after hikes etc.
Please no pets on the beds, furniture or bathtub.
The baby gate works both to secure kitchen area or stairs.
Do not leave trash unattended outside. You can dispose of it in the bear can outside and take it to the city dump on your way home.
The home is on a septic water system. The toilets will only flush small amounts of toilet paper at a time . Sanitary napkins, tampons, paper towels or other objects paper or otherwise must be disposed into the trash receptacle.
Food should be scraped into trash and dishes rinsed before putting in dishwasher.
Do not leave trash outside of the property! Wild animals including bears have very keen noses and should never be encouraged to interact with people or pets.
The Forest Service is a pet friendly land management agency and allows dogs on the public land it manages, as long as they are on a leash and under control by the owner. Please pick up behind your pet. If your animal is known to be skittish or aggressive around other animals or people, consider using a gentle leader to keep him/her other animals, and other people safe.

This property is .6 mile up a dirt road. The road can be steep and bumpy in places. 4X4 vehicles are NOT needed or required. We have driven up and down the road many times in a small sedan with no issues at all.

Please connect with us if you plan on arriving after dark. It is much easier to find during daylight. The street entrance can be hard to find, but GPS will lead you directly to the house!

We currently give yiu old-fashioned key entry. Your key will be in the door of the Casita awaiting your arrival. You will have private use of our 116-jet Saluspa hot tub, located on the deck of the main house. We also recommend using our camp chairs to enjoy our private beach on Tillie Creek. sitting in the creek - on boulders or the chairs - is a delightful, mesmerizing treat as the waters flow by.
If you love connecting with the past, be sure to visit our ancient grindstone, left behind by indigenous tribes (located in SE corner of the property, beyond the fenced area). Families carved pits into the boulder that were used to grind acorns, which was used to make gruel and fry bread. For thousands of years, the Tubatulabal tribes migrated here to this location every winter and returned to the cooler mountains in summer. (Their petroglyphs are visible at various locations, and their descendants still live here to this day.) We are honored to have this beautiful artifact at El Escondite for you to experience for yourself.

The outdoor table and porch benches are exclusive to the Casita. You are welcome to use the firepit, gather kindling, access the solar water purification system and explore the entire property. Tillie Creek runs through the back of the property and is where deer and other critters pass through. (The creek runs seasonally but is expected to flow into the summer months.)
Other things to note
El Escondite's grounds offer lots of space and privacy. The hosts are usually around. If you need anything, please let us know.

Although you’ll mostly have the whole backyard to yourself, we will soon have an additional glamping tent in the back of the property by Tillie Creek.

A telescope is provided for your enjoyment. It may have been a while since you've been able to see so many stars!

" - "I reserved this property weeks ago, telling the host I would be there with my 2yo son. Day of arrival there is no communication from host, I message before check in time for information on how to check in. No reply. My son and I arrive a bit after 7pm and go to the grocery store for food and to call host for check in instructions. Host ignores my call at first, then calls me back 5 minutes later. Host asks why I'm calling, I explain I need check in instructions, host confused asks me if I'm sure... I tell host yes today is the day of our arrival and we are ready to go to the home. Host then apologizes and says another family is already checked in. At this point I realize any argument is futile, host does not care about our predicament. I ask host to cancel the reservation and begin the refund process. Host has the audacity to message after they cancel, after 8pm now, and state "the reservation is canceled and you should be able to book another vrbo". So after 8pm on a Fri night in a very small town and the host somehow thinks I'd be able to secure another vrbo. Hotel rooms were all booked, so my 2yo son and I stay in a very sub par motel, only rooms I could find, only other option was driving a couple hours to nearest town. Oh and vrbo says it could take 15 business days for me to receive my refund! Terrible host, terrible polices on vrbo, terrible experience."

The “Playhouse” is an eco friendly, 100% solar home. It has a loft with a comfy queen sized bed, a private bathroom with shower, and tons of windows to enjoy the many gorgeous views!

Spirit Walk is a completely private and secluded property nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Sequoia National Forest.
This magical property is set among oaks and pines and feels like a million miles away, yet it is only a 3 hour drive North from Los Angeles.

You'll enjoy full access to the cabin and outdoor areas which include a beautiful shared fire pit and outdoor kitchen.

Although the kitchen and fire pit areas are shared, the Tiny House is all yours and there are plenty of private spaces on the property. We're always available if you have any questions or need any advice about the area.
Quiet time is 9:00pm - 9:00am.

Other things to note
There are plates, bowls, cups, and silverware available, but no cooking is allowed inside. There are pots and pans in the bear box in the kitchen area. There is a stove, gas BBQ, and a sink for clean up. No refrigerator, and no oven.

There’s a grill that you can use to cook over the fire pit if you choose to. You are welcome to use wood from the pile by the fire pit. We just ask that you pay for the wood that you burn. ($7 per bundle.)

The house is 480 sq ft and offers a full kitchen, one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room and a private patio. The bedroom has a 'floating' bed that hangs from the ceiling. There are about 30 steps leading up to the property entrance.

Come to the most elaborate, unique, Lord of the rings style vacation home. The interior walls are giant granite boulders. incredibly remote. Handcrafted sculptures, counter-tops, sinks, lights, with all natural materials. Fully functional eco friendly living space. King size bed. Shower. kitchen has electric cooking devices. One king size bed and two inflatable twins, wi-Fi not available inside the home, but everywhere outside, patio, sitting areas, parking area. Winding paved back road up a mountain 4 miles long. Then half mile of dirt rd. The green house with the address 6600 it's not your stay you drive another hundred feet to a blue water tank and a parking area, then walk down the trail to the hidden castle. It is not visible anywhere from the road 125 foot path down the mountain side to your stay. Parking space requires backing in or driving to the end of the dirt road turning around to face forward.
This home is built with all natural materials and is semi-off grid with its own private well :of great drinking water. This is an earth-house. Built between two massive granite boulders and dug into the mountain side. Utilizing the coolness of the mountain earth. Hollowed logs and branches found on the construction site have been turned into light sconces and a bathroom sink.

Home Designed and sculpted by known Carmel California artist Kris Thomas Blichfeldt. This has been a 2 and 1/2 year project of hard labor and a lot of love. No Hollywood set design shortcts here. this is all sculpted with cement clay rock and original giant 1000 ton boulders. All mortar and concrete was mixed with sand from the banks of lake Isabella.
