Leaving the airport, take the road down from the airport to the village (marked Centro).
In the village you will reach a T-junction. Turn right, drive through the town and continue for approximately 1.5 kms until you see the Hotel Pestana on the left hand side and the Porto Santo Tennis Club on the right.
Keep going a little further past some houses and the football grounds until you see the pizzeria Maramao on right side of the road and immediately afterwards take the right slip road for the Estrada do Lavrador.
At the top of the ramp bear left and continue along the street, for approximately 100 metres until you reach a cemented ramp on the right hand side. Turn up the ramp and the Villa Mary gate is right in front of you.

However, it is further to the beach than advertised, (probably because the direct route is blocked by a fence around a building site), so you need to walk further down the road to the beach path. The bikes are not well maintained and need attention to the brakes and saddle adjustors. The good points far outweigh any drawbacks and we would go again."
