- "Speechless. I have stayed so many places in my life and this is the most magical. I sprained my ankle our first day leaving our room. The owner scooped me up put me in a car and Viktor the owner at PURA PORA took me and gave us the most amazing experience. Then gave me a walking stick to get around with. Pura pora is a MUST GO! RIO PERLAS is the most peaceful romantic and friendliest resort Ive ever been too. And by far my favorite spot in Costa Rica. Our second day we ran around town and came back and soaked in the thermal pools by the river. Perfect temperature! Our room 139 is next to a waterfall that pools into a large pond with an outlook. Its located in Tapanti and you can hike around without leaving. Viktor also sculpted the most incredible art pieces around the resort that are fun to find. All in all it was the most memorable and sacred experience that I will cherish for all my life. Cant wait to come back."

That said, the room was isolated, beautiful, and serene. The covered wildlife/waterfall viewing area and the hummingbird feeder area with a bathroom made bird watching very comfortable. What a delight to spot a basilisk lizard next to the waterfall viewing area. We saw it run across the surface of pond to catch a dragonfly! The water features on the property have been organized to maximize being attractive to wildlife. Easy to get to from San José, but we recommend hiring a driver. Traffic and roads are a bit crazy. Mid elevation rain forest bordering on farmland, this was good both for birds and for moths at night."

Staff were pretty friendly, our only “poor” interaction was when we showed up at 8:30 am after a morning hike and were told the breakfast ends at 9 am and made a little fuss over us arriving at 8:30. This was the best breakfast we had. the grounds were beautiful! we saw so many birds and flowers. Our only con was that we didn’t have hot water in our room the first night/morning. We don’t know if this was do to lack of solar available or if other guests used it all but we didn’t have any hot water at 9 pm or 6 am. The second day when we showered right after our hike 4 pm there was hot water. We would recommend this hotel to friends. "

- "Very disappointed book two rooms my self and family my reservation was done 3 months in advance. When I get there they try selling me that I book at the wrong hotel that there was no reservation for me. After I give them all the info they told me that isn’t possible that I have a reservation with them because they block that day out from December 2022, I told them my reservation was done since November 3rd so was book before they block out days. Suddenly they found my reservation but they didn’t honor it because supposedly they cancel my reservation and Expedia didn’t notify me so they all the blame on Expedia. Ask them what is the reason for my reservation to be cancel they could not explain. But I figure it out my self, I got a reasonable rate I advance and since was the festivities days in town they figure as well that they could get double are triple the price for room that I book so was pretty easy to cancel my reservation and rebooked the room to some else. I asked if I could get a room of course there was none available due to the high demand. My family and my self stay stranded very disappointed trip. Will never book with them again seems to me like this is a common practice whenever they have high demand for rooms . "
