We liked the Tabacon from what we saw online, but wanted to save some money. What a mistake! The first hotel's beds were wet from all of the moisture, dirty and smelled awful. We switched to the Tabacon and it was night and day. Clean, beautiful resort, comfortable dry beds, friendly staff, and the warm thermal springs are breathtaking, and beyond relaxing. We got into the thermal springs free since we got a room there which saved us the $45 entrance fee we would have paid since we were planning on visiting a hot springs anyways. The staff was super friendly and upgraded our room for free. The days we were there it was cloudy so you couldn't see the volcano from any hotels. They said it's hit or miss on whether or not you can see it from any location, so I'm not actually sure if you can see it from this hotel, but regardless the views are beautiful. Save yourself the headache and don't ruin your vacation they way ours almost got ruined. Stay at a little nicer hotel like the Tabacon and you wont regret it!"

The area is safe and walkable to the main streets with restaurants, grocery stores, etc. There is an AC unit in each bedroom so the temperature is very nice. For the shower, to get hot water, you do have to put it on a low setting (with less pressure) so turn the knob just a little. The more water pressure you get, the less warm the water will be. Alex (The host) of this property was very responsive in responding to all our inquiries before our stay, during our stay, and after our stay. Mucho Gracias Alex! This property is 5 min (by car) away from the La Fortuna village making it easy to access supermarkets, restaurants, tour bookings, car /scooter rental, cell phone SIM, banks etc. On vacation, After a long day, good food, and a good night's sleep is must to relax and recharge. Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable and Its becusae of our stay here, we loved it! This property is brand new and in Excellent Condition. Alex has built this property in a quiet area, surrounded by nature. You have an uninterrupted view of the Arenal Volcano from both bedrooms! Melodious bird chirping will wake you up rather than a boring alarm clock. The property has two bedrooms with comfortable beds with large glass sliding doors and modern-looking washrooms. Car parking is next to the house. As this property is new, adding some of the few things are recommended, such as a place to store and arrange cloths (cabinets, drawers etc) Adding a Washer and Dryer would be great! In essence, we love our stay and its mainly due to our comfortable stay at this property. I will surely rent this during my next vacation in Costa Rica."

- "So many problems. I could feel the springs in the hard bed. The street outside with noisy, and you could hear everything from inside through thin walls. The lighting was poor, and the door latches were strangely designed. There was no reception desk, and the owner did check-in while I was standing in a stairwell, handing my credit card through metal bars—it was like I was entering prison except that two small dogs were demanding my attention. The place had no charm or character. I left after one night and sank the remaining $120 for the following two nights of the reservation, so I could change to a better hotel. The owner said she would refund me for the third night, which was all I asked for. The moment I left the property, she immediately messaged me to say that she would contact Expedia instead. I never heard from her again. I might understand such low standards if this hotel was dirt-cheap, but it cost more than other local hotels with a pool or air conditioning and a kitchen."

- "Best house in my trip ever. Custom Log Cabin. The photos tell it all !!!! Amazing" - "Oh my, this was so Amazing! So let me paint a picture. This house is not in Fortuna, but it is outside of the city in the country side. We were welcomed with open arms by the owner's sister who also lives in a house next to the property. Call first via the app or via WhatsApp. When you approach the gate, it's in a residential neighborhood off the major road out of Fortuna. Open the gate and drive inside. You will get keys to the house, gate, and rear doors. Omg! As you lay in your bed, you open up the rear doors and you are greeted by nature at your feet. This is a custom built log cabin. Everything is made of wood and is custom built including the doors, counters, tables, beds..... Everything! The owner's relative is an architect. This house is amazing... If you leave your door open at night, the breeze will greet you from the stocked fish pond out your back door. They have a grille and farm animals too. Amazing! The bathroom is very modern with hot water. Barely turn the water on to activate the hot water, as the hot water is electric, very customary in Latin America. I would recommend bringing food to cook at the house. You have a full kitchen. The bar on the corner has awesome staff and dancing. Yes this gringo danced his night away! Hahahahaha. Have fun, and enjoy your stay at the house outside of the city. It is Amazing. Two tips. Make sure you get the address first from the home owner, and also get their phone number before to get the keys."

- "This was the perfect, serene getaway and driving distance to the excursions we did while staying in La Fortuna. Our host communicated with us before, during, and after our stay. Red Frog Cafe was our favorite for coffee everyday. " - "This home was exactly what we needed, close to downtown La Fortuna yet away from the noise. The house has 2 bedrooms with doble beds and TV’s and one loft with 2 twin beds. The bathroom has hot/cold water and the host provides shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, a cooktop as well as the basics you need to make meals if you choose to cook. The washer and dryer were very convenient. Towels and bed linens are nice, beds comfortable, cozy living area with TV and lovely patio with greenery all around where you get to see wildlife as well. It felt very private yet very close to everything, about 5 minute drive to restaurants and stores. The host was very responsive and self check in a breeze. Internet worked great. We highly recommend Villa Escondida. "
