We were lucky enough to have nice weather so we were able to enjoy the large yard playing bags and horseshoes and it had enough room for the kids to run wild and burn off all their energy. The property was well stocked with anything you could need but close enough to town if you forgot something while still having that out in the middle of nowhere vibe. A 2 min drive or less than 1 mile walk to several shops, restaurants, bars, a brewery, the beautiful St Francis Xavier Basilica and the Baseball Hall of Dreams. 400 feet to the scenic 26-mile Heritage Trail for walking, jogging, or biking and a 2 minute walk to the Dyersville Aquatic Center. One mile to the National Farm Toy Museum. It’s not quite Heaven, but it’s close.

Upon one of the highest points in Dubuque County, sits The Black Barn. With sight lines over 70 miles, it feels like you are in big sky country. The spa area with an indoor pool and hot tub has a two story wall of windows allowing you to see the million dollar view. The Black Barn sits on 7.5 secluded wooded acres, including a large patio with fire pit overlooking the scenic valleys. Black Barn has six bedrooms, a game room, three baths and accommodates and sleeps 16 guests. Guests on property are limited to 16.

- "There were twelve of us staying here for a mini family reunion with my siblings, our spouses/significant others and my parents. The house is new and very clean. The house sits on a hill with a great view. Since we only had a couple of days together, we wanted to maximize our time being able to talk and enjoy each other. The house was perfect for having meals there with a nice kitchen that made making home made meals easy. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were great! There is a large big screen TV in the family room and and even larger TV in the pool area. We did need to rearrange the furniture in the family to accommodate all of us being in there at the same time. There were only two downsides that we felt were minimal overall: 1. the kitchen table was too small for all of us to sit around, but the seat at the island accommodated the overflow 2. There was a problem with the breaker so a walk full of outlets weren’t working, including all outlets in one of the first floor bedrooms; so charging phones or anything requiring electricity wasn’t happening there. But we easily worked around that minor glitch to what was a great weekend. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Lastly, George was very responsive throughout the process. It was a pleasure!"

Kitchen has a double oven and is well appointed. Nice porch with a great view of nature. Older guests should know that the two largest bedrooms are downstairs and require navigating stairs. 2 bathrooms, upstairs and down. No broadcast tv, but many streaming services made available. Fast wifi. Upstairs bedrooms warm and stuffy, but during record heat. Front stairs need work. Overall, a nice stay for our family."

Each rental unit has their separate private entrance as well as double locked interior doors for privacy and security. When Lakeview Living is rented as the entire house, all interior doors can be locked or unlocked, renter's choice. With plenty of sleeping options, this makes for a way for a large family to all stay together, or several families to stay and split the cost!

We do have security cameras installed at all Lakeview Living rental house door entrances, as well as overlooking the deck. These are intended for insurance purposes, as well as safety and security for our guests and property.

- "We loved the home! Couple suggestions, if I may! As a senior, that little broken step at the porch is definitely a problem, as is the loose railing upstairs. Perhaps place those non-skid things for rugs under the rug in front of the sofas, as well as the small rug at the back door. That one slipped right out from under me when I went outside. Don't worry, I did not fall!! What about small mirrors over the dressers in the bedrooms? I borrowed the little one from the bathroom and stood it up on the dresser, so the others could still get into the bathroom. If I may also suggest working on the outside curb-appeal? This home has amazing potential!!! I'm actually wondering if maybe it is new to you?!? However, none of those things would keep me from coming back if I had the opportunity. You were so kind when I called you re: the air conditioning - you obviously care about your guests!!! My daughter loved the corner shelves built from the doors! - "Great location and condo was extremely clean. Check in instructions were very clear. The 2nd pull-out couch, though not used, was very hard, even to sit on. Glad we didn't have to sleep on it. The larger couch was excellent. Kitchen was well stocked and bathroom was huge and very clean. Only complaint was the train that came by at 5:00am every morning and tooted its horn as a wake-up call!" - "Good place to stay!" - "The condo was very comfortable and clean. The posting on VRBO did not mention the railroad track running directly by the property. We were awakened by a train in the middle of the night. We stayed one night and for the price we paid, we did not expect to have to clean the condo before we left. Total cost ended being double the posted price and we were threatened with additional fees if we did not clean up. It just seemed hostile for the price we paid."

It can occupy up to 30 guests with numerous indoor and outdoor activities- 3 pickleball courts, a volleyball court, and basketball. 5 miles from the Field of Dreams Movie Site. Across the street is Rolling Knolls Golf Course.
The rate on weekends includes up to 20 people ($1200) and the weekday rate ($600) includes up to 10. If you want to book for more people than what is already included in the price, please let me know and we can work on pricing for that. Inside, we enjoyed ping pong, billiards, basketball, Golden Tee, and poker. Outside, the big field, pickleball court, and basketball net were a hit. The open concept of the home was wonderful, and the comfortable couch was perfect for late-night movies and afternoon naps. No one felt crowded, and you didn’t have to be near anyone unless you wanted to be. We loved sitting at the bar for dinner and watching traffic and the golf course from the front windows. The Sonos system provided great music. The location was ideal, with easy access to Dyersville and attractions like the Field of Dreams Movie Site. We also enjoyed the hiking trails and the sandy beach at Backbone State Park in Dundee, IA. The ample sleeping arrangements and spacious restaurant kitchen were standout features. The large kitchen was great for preparing and serving meals, and the griddle was perfect for making breakfast to order. There were enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. The multiple bathrooms were beneficial with our large group. Overall, this property was perfect for our diverse age group and everyone found something to love. Built in 1867, this breathtaking little rock church in Lattnerville Iowa looks almost identical on the outside as it did over 150 years ago. Originally dedicated in honor of the Blessed Virgin as St Mary's Catholic Church, parishoners worshipped for 22 years throughout prosperous times, hardships, extensive remodeling, fires and closures. The last scheduled Mass for what eventually became the Annunciation Church was held in 1989 with only special occasion services held until 2012 when the sacred vessels were transported to St. John the Baptist Church in Peosta, Iowa. In 2013 the church was sold at auction and underwent a massive restoration eventually transpiring to the Lattnerville Church Inn.

The space is impeccable for a family to relax and take in the surroundings! The local winery is within 15 min. drive as well as drinking/dining in neighboring communities (Epworth/Peosta/Farley/Dyersville). We saw some bicyclists trying out their climbing skills - there are plenty of undulating roads with some steep climbs (+7% grade) but the scenery is breathtaking - you can see for miles!!!
