Windgarth House has offered year-round hospitality in the heart of the Finger Lakes for 17 years. We rent this beautiful lake house by the week from Sunday to Sunday during the summer (late June until Labor Day) or for shorter stays the rest of the year (2 night minimum).

The house is on a quiet, well-maintained road, with easy access to the house: only four steps and you are inside! Lake access is equally easy. Just go down the internal staircase in the home, walk out the back door across a beautiful lawn with mature shade trees and the lake is right there. There are no cliff or staircases to navigate, as is common in other locations on Cayuga Lake. Or walk around the side of the house on a gently sloping lawn on one side, or just eight steps on the other side. There are no stairs and no road between the house and lake, as is common elsewhere on Cayuga Lake. The house is located on a cove near Sheldrake Point. The water is shallow at the shore and gradually becomes deeper along the dock, to about four feet at the end of the dock. It is ideal for wading and swimming for children of all ages and adults. We provide a canoe and kayak, life jackets and other water toys for our guests' use.
The house has free Wifi. There is central air conditioning and an additional Mitsubishi air conditioning unit in the downstairs living room/kitchen. In the fall, spring and winter, the house is heated with a forced air furnace and the heat/AC unit in the downstairs living area. A gas fireplace adds additional warmth in the downstairs kitchen/living room.

The house consists of two floors. Upstairs there is a full kitchen with a cafe table, a living/dining room with two sleeper sofas, a full bathroom, a queen bedroom and a twin bedroom. Both bedrooms and the living/diving room have views of the lake.

Downstairs, there is a queen bedroom, a full bathroom, a kitchen/living area with twelve windows overlooking the lake and a gas fireplace for colder times of the year, and recreation room with a 42" Smart TV for watching DVD's. The utility room has a washer and dryer for our guests' use.

Windgarth House sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms, and up to another 4 on one of the sleeper sofas upstairs or two inflatable full-size mattresses that you can place in the location of your choice.

Windgarth House is located on the west shore of Cayuga Lake, across the road from the Sheldrake Point Winery and Cafe. Only 12 miles from Taughannock Falls State Park, 10 miles from Trumansburg and 20 miles from Ithaca, it is nestled in a prime location.

The area around Windgarth House is ideal for long walks along the lake and biking. There are many hiking opportunities in the area, including at Taughannock Falls State Park.

- "Beautiful cottage property with all the amenities one could ask for. Plenty of cooking equipment and pantry essentials already there. Has a well system from lake, so we used bottled water for everything, mainly because a member of our group is pregnant. Wi-fi worked great for those of us working remotely. We did have to fix the BBQ handle to use it but it wasn’t a big deal. Location is great, easy to get all over the Finger Lakes. the weather didn’t cooperate much but we were able to use the canoe and kayak a few days. The gardens and yard were just so pretty…I have landscape envy. Communication with owner was easy and she was kind enough to give us some tips on where we could take the 2 elderly ladies in our party to view waterfalls. She also gave us great info on where to shop for food and necessities. Overall, highly recommended for a group stay in the Finger Lakes."

Huge decking area at beachfront with Steel Wood Burning Fire Pit, and adirondack chairs. Use of 2 (mint!) stand-up paddleboards, kayak, canoe, paddle boat and life jackets.

Longview Cottage, a lakefront cottage located in heart of the Cayuga and Seneca Lake Wine Trails, is around the corner from Sheldrake Point Winery, O'Malley's Restaurant and Wycoff Farmstand (the best fresh fruits and vegetables!), 7 minutes from downtown Ovid, 10 minutes from Trumansburg and Taughannock Falls State Park, 20 minutes north of Ithaca, 15 minutes from Seneca Lake and 30 minutes from Watkins Glen.

Longview features a lovely, air conditioned 2-bedroom cottage. Gas grill on large front deck with dining area.

There is plenty of off-street parking for your cars and boats. Must use steps to access beach and dock area. Boat launch around the corner provides easy boat access to Cayuga Lake.

- "Thus far the experience has been great. The cottage is quaint, cozy, clean and has a kitchen that carries most of what is needed. Very quiet and a great getaway if you are looking just to slow down the pace. Downstairs bed is very comfortable. TV in living room is equipped with all the apps. The grocery store in Ovid is very meh but it is close; however, there are Wegmans stores in nearby Geneva and Auburn and they are PHENOMENAL (on par with or exceeding Heinen's in Ohio or Publix in Florida). Not alot of sit down food options nearby; again, you may need to travel to Geneva, Trumansburg, Ithaca, Watkins Glen etc for more dine-in options. Make sure to check out the Samich shop in Ovid on 96 across from the gas station. Phenomenal meat ball subs and lunch fare. Overall, I would rate this 5/5 thus far."

The proximity to the water here just can’t be beat, as the house abuts right up to the edge of the lake shore itself. A waterfront deck that just invites lakeside lounging is shaded by a beautiful established poplar tree. You’ll be drawn out here all day long in the warm months, whether it’s to watch the lake come to life in the morning, to bask in lake breezes & the sound of the waves while picking out forms in the clouds, to marvel at the colors of sunset reflecting in the water, or to contemplate the stars and vastness of the universe. In the cold season, cozy up in front of the gas fireplace and enjoy the sounds of the water!

Alternatively, prior guests bringing boat trailers have had very positive experiences with storing trailers+boats the nearby Don's Marina or Long Point State Park launch facilities. *Please confirm with us about boat use in advance of your arrival if you are thinking of having motorized watercraft at the cottage.

Additional description: Drive right up to the water’s edge & climb only 4 steps to enter the 4-season house. The very recently updated interior is small in square footage (1200 sq. ft), but cozy, comfortable, & well-appointed. The beautiful small-space chef’s kitchen is efficient & well-stocked with cooking equipment. A new induction range provides lots of heat & fine temperature control while also minimizing our eco-footprint (a similar experience to cooking on gas cooktops). An open floor plan offers lake views from most of the common areas. On the first floor are 2 bedrooms (1 Queen/2 Twins) & a full bathroom, & the second floor has a half bathroom, a 3rd bedroom (1 Queen) & an open loft TV area. Ultra-comfortable memory foam mattresses. The 1.5 bathrooms are small, but also clean, efficient, & boast heated floors & lighted mirrors! Recently updated decor features a retro cabin aesthetic with modern conveniences and styling. Eco bonus: Heat & AC is provided by an efficient heat-pump system & all electricity supplied to the property is 100% solar generated, purchased from a nearby solar farm! Aside from the fireplace, the house is run by the sun!

Step out of the house right onto the deck for incredible water views & sounds of the waves against the sea wall. A small shale beach area allows easy launching of kayaks/SUPs as well as a right-by-the-water firepit, perfect to relax lakeside & contemplate the universe. Located in a friendly lakeside neighborhood a very short distance down a quiet, dead-end, single-lane private road with a 5-mph speed limit, the house is very peaceful & safe with quick & convenient access (no long drive to get back to the main road). The flat gravel road is pleasant for a morning or evening walk. Property outdoor conveniences like the watercraft & some outdoor furniture are seasonally stored & *not available* during colder months (usually late Oct to mid-May; exact dates are weather-dependent & not guaranteed). INSECTS/SPIDERS: Bugs are a natural part of lake life & a healthy ecosystem. We do our very best to keep them out of the house, but because we are so close to an important water source, use of chemical sprays must ethically & legally be limited due to environmental impacts. To reduce the numbers that sneak inside, make sure to keep doors & screens closed, especially at night & make sure to seal/put away food.

Welcome to "Sunset Oasis”! A 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath picturesque lakefront cottage located on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State. This property features a fully screened in porch, upper and lower decks, a relaxing 4-person hot tub, a private dock with a large sun deck, and 1 vertical boat lift. Fish off the dock, float on a tube (we can rent ours!), have a waterside bonfire or enjoy a paddle in the 2 kayaks provided for use.

This 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath property can sleep up to 6 guests and has parking for 4 vehicles. It features a large fully screened in porch, upper and lower decks with panoramic views of the lake, a relaxing 4-person hot tub available for use year-round, a private dock with a large sun deck, and1 vertical boat lift (max 3000lbs). Cast a line off the dock for some great fishing, float peacefully in an inflatable tube (we have 2 available for rental!), or enjoy a paddle around the lake in the 2 kayaks provided for use.

Before you arrive you will be asked to complete guest verification through third-party provider Truvi. This is done to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both our guests and our properties with extra protection. A quiet, quaint lakefront cottage located 2 miles in on a private dirt road, great for walking or bike rides. Cottage is on the east side of the lake, close to Aurora, and several wineries and restaurants.

This is our vacation paradise. When we are not enjoying it with family and friends we rent it out. We don’t treat it as a rental. It has the quirkiness that comes from being our cottage. We are always changing, adding, updating. Our very first renter still comes back every year and looks for what we changed or added. Our cottage has over 200 feet of level beachfront, small dock, and is on a more secluded part of Cayuga lake. On the east shore so there are amazing sunsets. The cottage itself has one large camp style bedroom with one double bed and a twin over full bunk bed. Has a living/dining room, fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom with shower. The outside features a large wraparound covered porch with lots of seating, and amazing views. There is also a sun deck, and BBQ area. Note: There is no tv, or internet. If you are looking for a quiet place to get away from it all and unwind this is it!!!

We have given the camp a new lease on life with a rustic modern charm. It was completely renovated in 2016. It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. This house has plenty of lake frontage, a dock and a hoist. There is a patio for dining and a campfire pit. There is a bunkhouse that has 2 twin cots. This home provides kitchen, dining and living room, bathroom, one queen bed, one full bed, 2 twin cots (bunk quarters), covered porch picnic area, washer and dryer. There is a yard for tents (you must bring). The camp is located 3.5 miles down a 12-foot wide private road with little traffic. The camp is near the end of a dead end lake road. The road is very family friendly and is a great place to walk, jog, or ride bicycles. There is plenty of parking! Enjoy the sunsets and evenings around a campfire. At the camp there is a row boat and a paddle boat for use! A pet friendly camp.
Long Point State Park is 5 miles north of the property. Bright-Leaf winery is 1.5 mile walk or 6.5 mile drive. The town of Aurora is a quaint place a mile beyond Long Point. The town features Mackenzie Childs, the Fargo Bar and Grill, Well's College, and the Aurora Inn. The closest cities are Ithaca and Auburn, NY (approximately 45 minutes away). The Finger Lakes area is known for their winery and cheese trails, plan a day trip to stop at a few! The DeLago Casino is 40 minutes away.

Boat hoist available from memorial to Labor Day. Check with owners about size of boat restrictions. No pontoons. If you bring your boat Owner has off site parking if you need it. We do not recommend driving your boat and trailer down the road (12-foot right-of-way).

I wish I had known about this before I signed up for staying. Christina is a GREAT host none the less!!!"

- "My family & I had such a wonderful vacation at this house. The house is absolutely beautiful with outstanding views. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything we needed. The yard was definitely a nice bonus for our dogs and young kids. We did have issues with the WiFi, but it was taken care of quickly which was much appreciated. The only con I can speak to was the cleanliness of the grill. It was quite dirty with cobwebs, bugs, etc. so my husband spent a decent amount of time scrubbing & cleaning it. All in all, it’s an amazing place for a large family. None of us wanted to leave. Highly recommend."

This is your starting place to get out and enjoy the heart of the Finger Lakes. You will be amazed how uncrowded and wonderful it is. Walk along beautiful County Road 153 as it follows the shores of Cayuga Lake passing many stately old lake houses as well as award winning Sheldrake Point Winery. Not far down the road is O’Malley’s Cabin on the Lake restaurant.

If you own a boat or watercraft, there is a boat launch just down the street so you can enjoy being on the waters of Cayuga Lake.

Also, just down the street, you can board a boat for the “Water to Wine” tour which takes to you to wineries located on Cayuga Lake. If you would rather go by car, hire the “Main St. Driver”, a chauffeur who uses your car to take you to any of the more than 200 Finger Lakes wineries and brings you home safely.

A short drive can also take you to the famous Lively Run Goat Dairy, where delicious local cheese is crafted, and you can meet the fun- loving goats!

If you are a hiker, you’ll love the many local hiking and walking trails at Taughannock, Watkins Glen, Ithaca and Hector. If you’re a bird watcher, you can see Canada Geese, wild ducks, Loons, Herons, Osprey, and even Bald Eagles on or along the shores of Cayuga. You can also visit the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge at the northern end of Cayuga Lake. A short drive will take you to Deer Haven Park, the official site of the Seneca White Deer tours to see rare white deer.

Completing the upper level of this home you'll have three bedrooms and two baths. Travel downstairs to find your second living area. The family room has a cozy feel with over sized furniture. The fourth bedroom with both queen bed and twin bed and half bath are located off the family room.

When it's time to unwind after a long day from outside adventures, spend time in the bonus game room that compliments the lower level. Darts, a poker table and foosball table will offer entertainment for your whole group, night after night.

The outside living space is where true luxury steps into place at this property. The extravagant yard offers a large firepit for your friends and family to gather and share stories from their daytime adventures and make memories for years to come.

The 3 kayaks we're a big hit at our personal dock, the foozball was fun, the game supplies were more than adequate, the kitchen had all the necessaries, and the home was clean, comfortable and relaxed. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was adequate for early June. Outside we enjoyed the large patio table, the beautiful lawn around the whole grounds and the fire pit with chairs for everyone. The location was central for visiting church history sites. Palmyra 1 hour; Fayette .5 hour; Harmony PA 2 hours. Rochester airport is 1.5 hours. Stop at Costco on your way in for groceries (shopping is not so good).
