- "First, let me tell you that you have to climb two very steep sets of stairs to even get to the unit. When we arrived the code we were given was incorrect and we couldn't get into the unit. Tried calling the number provided and no one ever answered. Thankfully they did call back, but it took a while. Once in the unit we found it was very dirty and did not feel safe because the code to get into our unit was the same as the one used to access the building as well, which made me feel anyone would be able to gain access into my unit if they tried. Also didn't like that the washer & dryer were in a community area which wasn't near my unit. The internet didn't work half the time I was there. There was a lot of noise from the surrounding areas. I heard sirens multiple times a day. The blinds in the unit were broken, which I did complain about upon our arrival and they did come replace them the next day. The towel holder was barely staying in the wall. Lastly to wrap this up, I got charged twice for this stay and it took me providing several forms of proof and them giving me the run around for almost two weeks before they finally issued me a refund. Guests have access to the entire house except for the garage. A key code for the main door will be provided before check-in. You will enter your key code, and the door will open. You will not need to hit the check mark or enter the numbers after entering them.

The Neighborhood:
The Darling Rose is located in a primarily residential area. It’s quiet and family-friendly, so you’ll feel safe staying and walking around the neighborhood. It’s also centrally located, so you’re just a short drive or ride-share away from shopping centers, restaurants, parks, and recreational facilities, along with all the main attractions in the area!

Getting Around:
The Darling Rose is centrally located around many main attractions in the area. Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are also accessible. Bus services are also available in the broader areas of the city, but not directly to the house. For short distances, the neighborhood is walkable and bike-friendly.

» Parties or events are only permitted with host approval. You must request them when booking and get prior approval from the host before booking the home for a party.

» Quiet hours are between 10 PM - 7 AM. Please respect our neighborhood and do not cause noise they can hear during these hours.
» There is a garage attached to the house, but please note this is not part of the rental & can not be opened by guests.
» Please ensure adult supervision with any children going into the unfinished basement- be cautious and aware of the unfinished basement, steps, and potential for children to get to this area. A baby gate is provided to block the door to the basement if needed.
» Maximum occupancy is 8- additional guests are allowed with host approval and an additional fee.
» We have aminut system installed to detect air quality in the home. It will detect and notify the host of smoking in the house which as stated in the hous erules as strictly forbidden. Any smoking in the home will result in an additional cleaning fee.

NOTE: As we continue to improve the Darling Rose, we have added a nice patio outback for guests to utilize. This can be accessed via the downstairs back door. We continue to complete construction on the concrete walkway from the front of the home to the back yard. Please do not access the patio from the front yard and abide by the posted caution tape. Absolutely no construction will be completed during any guest stays. Thank you!

The neighborhood:
Close to restaurants, concerts, shopping and sporting events. Terri loves walking to the farmers market, shopping in the antique stores, and of course bourbon! Jeff loves all of the music venues within walking distance. We also enjoy walking the "East Row" and enjoying the 19th century architecture of the beautiful homes.
Getting around:
Private parking lot included. This unit includes parking for one car only! Park your car and then walk, ride bikes (Red Bike services), or use the Southbank Trolley.

This is a well maintained and updated 150-year-old house that we call the Golden Goose because it was originally a farmhouse for a goose farm. It is completely updated and beautifully decorated. Tall ceilings and hardwood floors throughout. The Golden Goose is an amazing property. We chose this home because of its massive size and great proximity to downtown and the area of Covington. The whole extended family or group of friends can fit comfortably and enjoy a great time together. The showstopper is the huge family/dining room that walks out to a large deck. You will spend most of your time here, gathering, laughing, and taking in the seasonal view of Cincinnati. Enjoy your time in a comfortable and stylish space. Location description:
Nice quiet urban residential neighborhood close to downtown Cincinnati and all that it has to offer. We are also a few miles from Covington Main Strauss Village which is home to many restaurants and bars and the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Newport on the Levee entertainment district and the aquarium are also nearby. The Arc encounter is approx 40-minute drive and the Creation Museum is a 20-minute drive away.

Things to note:
There is not a bathtub in the house, but the 2nd-floor shower has a handheld shower wand. There is also a baby tub and child-size tub that can be placed inside the shower to make it easier for bathing children.

The living room is very inviting with a beautiful fire place(not active), cozy couch, and french doors for privacy. There's a fold down mattress in the front bedroom closet that can sleep one, while the couch can sleep another guest.

Street parking is available except Tuesday mornings from 8AM-10AM for street cleaning.

The Neighborhood

Founded in 1815, Covington has been a staple neighborhood of the Cincinnati area. Heavily influenced by German immigrants in the mid 1800's, the city has preserved its German heritage while maintaining the charm that has beckoned its citizens since its foundation. Centrally located, Covington is a 5 minute drive to downtown and Newport and a 15 minute drive to CVG Airport. Conveniently located 2 blocks away from Covington's Wedding District and Hotel Covington. There are numerous bars and restaurants along Madison Avenue to keep you well fed and entertained.
The historic Mainstrasse Village is a 10 minute walk and sure to entertain with its bountiful shops, restaurants, bars and park.
Devou park offers beautiful hiking trails and one of the best views of the city, and is a 10 minute drive.
Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park are a 20 minute walk across the iconic Roebling Bridge.
Be sure to visit Over The Rhine, Cincinnati's vibrant historic neighborhood. Believed to be the largest continuous historic neighborhood in the US, OTR has the largest concentration of Italianate Architecture. It's also the entertainment Mecca of Cincinnati.

Getting Around

Most of the area is walkable, but there are numerous other options. Uber and Lyft are very common, in addition to a golf cart service called Gest. Gest offers free rides(tip your driver!) throughout the city, and can be hailed through their app. There is also a shuttle service between Covington, Cincinnati and Newport called the Southbank Shuttle. Rides are $1/per trip and have numerous stations in the area.

My girlfriend and I live on the third floor unit of the house and are available for any questions, recommendations or concerns. We love sharing what Covington and Cincinnati has to offer, so please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations or help.

Things to Know

We do have security cameras on the entrance to each door on the house. They are all located outside and run 24/7.
There are 5 stairs to get into the unit and the door has a keyless lock with a unique code shared upon booking.
We are located in the city and there will be city sounds such as trash collection and emergency vehicles. We are tucked away on a quiet street but those sounds will still happen on occasion.
Price per night includes up to 4 guests. We do have a couch in the living room that can sleep one, and a fold down mattress in the front bedroom closet that can sleep an additional guest. If you want to add additional guests(2 max for a total of 6 people in the unit), it's $10 per guest.

If you think you may have more than 6 guests or would like additional room, we do have a studio space for rent on the third floor of this house. It sleeps 3 and has separate access at the rear of the house. Please see the link:

House Rules

Guests book with us for a clean, quiet and comfortable travel stay, not to hear other guests hosting a loud group, party or event. We do everything in our power to ensure this for all guests.

Without exception, NO SMOKING, VAPING, MARIJUANA USAGE!! Do not think it can be covered up, it cannot. We must extensively clean to remove it before other guests arrive. Smoking inside requires a $100 minimum service fee to which you agree by accepting our house rules at the time of booking. We have a nice front porch for our TOBACCO smoking guests. You'll just need to police your butts. THANK YOU!

No shoes in the house. We have a shoe rack when you enter for leaving them in.

Wash your dishes. We’re happy to put them away if they’re still drying. If you don’t wish to wash your dishes, were happy to wash them for an additional fee.

Quiet hours 11pm-8am.

No hair coloring processes, it stains our bathroom fixtures and linens.

No tape on the walls or furniture, it removes paint.

All guests must have a working cellphone during the stay to access 911 in the event of an emergency and to communicate with us via the VRBO app.

We do not have child safety features, children are welcome if you accept liability and are comfortable knowing we have no child proofing along with many stairs.

NO PARTIES or EVENTS! Only the number of guests booked in your reservation are permitted to be in our place. A growing number of guests are booking VRBO's with the intent of hosting a party or a sleepover for minors or other group event. We know our neighbors and live upstairs. Your party absolutely will be noticed. You will be removed from the property immediately.

In the event a hosted event is shut down with police assistance, you will pay a $250 fee to which you agree by accepting our house rules at the time of booking. Without police assistance, the fee is $150. If damages are incurred those additional fees will be added as required. $100 of the fee collected with officer assistance will be donated to the Covington Police Department or one of their department sponsored community efforts for the negative impact on the community and our immediate neighbors.

The space
This spacious 2nd floor flat has its own private entrance on Greenup Street. It has a fully equipped Kitchen with a refrigerator, icemaker, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and Keurig. Cookware, as well as dishes and flatware are provided. Coffee, tea, and oatmeal are provided, as well as condiments.
Guest access
Guests have their own private entrance via an electronic key pad. The 4 digit code will be provided prior to your arrival. You will have use of the entire apartment. Hilltop Manor is a beautiful Brick Victorian that has been restored and lavishly furnished. The owners have spared no expense to make your stay opulent.

All areas of the home have been themed towards some of Hollywood's A-list movie stars and entertainers. The 3rd floor is where you will find Platform 9 3/4 for the Hogwarts Express from Harry Potter. The 3rd class guest from the Titanic also occupy the 3rd floor in our custom made quad bunks. On the 2nd floor you may live like "The King" in the comfort of a blue suede king size bed. Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn have rooms of their own and Forrest Gump rounds out the 2nd floor.

The main area of the home has been meticulously decorated with a bold ambience towards Gone with the Wind.

The kitchen is fully furnished with all your cooking needs.

The 3rd full bathroom is located in the basement.

Home has a television in every bedroom plus living room and a 60 inch tv in game room.

Air hockey table and poker table in game room.

- "Everything was perfect!" - "From beginning to end, our experience was marked with excellence. The host remained proactive and responsive throughout the duration of our rental. Our entire family of fourteen was impressed with the fancy Hollywood theme, well appointed spaces and stocked necessities. The children loved making use of all the floors, rooms and games, their imaginations ran wild. The adults enjoyed the different spaces to retreat but also gather together. The home was comforting and warmly decorated for the Christmas season which added another layer to the home sweet home experience."

Very nice, brick home, built in 1940 in Latonia/Covington. Lots of natural lighting, fenced in back yard, privacy fence, on a quiet, dead end street, walking distance to several cafe’s, churches, and a 2 min drive from golf course. Fully furnished, laundry facilities , on street parking. Back patio has a table, chairs, umbrella and a gas grill. Heavily wooded area, near a river, some wild life. A 15 min drive to Reds and Bengals stadiums, Hard Rock Casino, Riverdowns, Turfway Park, Riverbend Music Center, Belterra, Newport on the Levee, Mainstrasse Village. The Ark Encounter is about a 40 min drive, and the Creation Museum is a 25 min drive. Kings Island takes 45 minutes.

Michael’s house is a cozy, yet versatile townhouse located within a stone’s throw of downtown Cincy—it dates back to the 1870s too. Expect a full kitchen and dining room, two generous bathrooms, a fully loaded streaming television, and a master bedroom and two-bed guest room. Although it rests in a busy urban area, the house is quite quiet at night (and this is coming from someone who jolts awake at the slightest disturbance). Oh, and it’s right next door to Pompilio’s Italian, the filming location for the Dustin Hoffman classic “Rain Man.” Head on in to this quaint, two-story brick townhouse and enjoy its serviceability and practical location. Just be careful, the staircase that separates the two floors is somewhat steep, so physically challenged travelers should skip this one."

Mount Washington is a community within the city limits on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is an easy, <20 minute commute to downtown.

One of Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods, Mt. Washington has a population of 16,559. and offers a dense suburban feel with many parks. Many families and young professionals live in Mt. Washington.

Your personal vehicle, a rental, or Uber are all options. Parking is either free or metered in most locations. Not really an issue except in proximity to big events which most often include their own parking options.

Please remember you are staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect. If any problems arise, I will do my best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on site 24/7.

My home requires a positive review history to book.

Early check-in (before 4 PM) or late check-out (after 10 AM) may be available when requested at least 24 hours in advance. Cost for booking extensions is $25/hour. Exact times and amounts to be confirmed when extensions are approved. Please note, cleaning schedules are often tight so not all requests can be accommodated. To ensure my cleaning crew has sufficient time so that all guests are presented with the same high standard preparation I pride myself on, guests staying past check-out without permission will incur a $50/hour charge.

Highly recommend!" - "This home is a mid-century rancher that has been recently updated and professionally decorated with lots of charming touches. The downstairs is a man cave/game room area with air hockey table, TV lounge and its own bathroom. The owner was very communicative and flexible. He was able to accommodate early check in and late check out requests, even though we requested after the deadline, which had to cause him extra hassle. He was also understanding and kind when we accidentally stained some towels and pillowcases (!). The light switches, cabinets and closets all have labels, which is a very nice touch. The upstairs bathroom is newly-renovated, attractive and clean-feeling. When you step in the house, you say, “Ahhh!” with the feeling of being in a clean, renovated, attractive space. Because it wasn’t clear to me from the listing, there is a private driveway where you can park at least two cars. One other thing to note, if you are traveling with elderly people or those with limited mobility, is that there is a step down to the dining area. "

Convenient to Cincinnati. Short drive to any food or shopping. Quit neighborhood. Especially enjoyed the glassed in porch area. Beds were super comfortable. Would highly recommend. I contacted the host, who acknowledged the cigarette smell and dirty carpets. We had to find another place and cut our stay short. Unfortunately, we were not able to find another rental that was available until the 3rd day. I have been renting homes thru VRBO for trips for years, and this property is the worse rental.The description and photos do not reflect the property. The living room is open to the kitchen and has a large leather sofa, marble coffee table, a 55” Roku Smart TV and a Record Player.

Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. It is equipped with plenty of high-end cookware and serving pieces for cooking. It has a dining table with banquet seating.

The bathroom has been fully renovated and is equipped with a soaker tub/shower and a 24” vanity with large mirror.
