The thoughtful addition of a chain and padlock provides extra security for the garden gate. Patricia and Ian, the hosts, were there to greet us on arrival and again as we left and they couldn't have been more helpful, the friendliest nicest people you could wish to meet. We even received a phone call the week before we arrived asking if there was anything we needed prior to our arrival which I have never had before and was very kind. They have thought of everything you could possibly need and more besides! The kitchen is unbelievably well equipped and spacious and there was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us with bread,eggs, jam biscuits, milk and even dog treats too! Cannot recommend Westburn highly enough. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there thank you Patricia and Ian for being wonderful hosts! Comrie is a lovely quiet place with beautiful views and some lovely walks. A few minutes walk to the river and well worth a walk to see the Wee cauldron and Deils cauldron waterfalls. From the fully stocked kitchen, to the soft towels, the large table for gathering, the bookshelf full of books, loads of DVDs, and the overall homey feeling, we would recommend this place to anyone. In fact, we'd love to stay here for our next visit. Comrie is charming, a place my ancestors have many years of history, so it is a very special place to my family. We hiked the Deil's cauldron which is just a short walk to the trailhead from the cottage. We had a delicious anniversary dinner at the Royal Hotel and lovely breakfast at Cafe Comrie. We had some sunny weather and enjoyed a drink out on the deck in the back garden. The cherry on top was listening to the pipe band practice outside the Comrie Parish Church. Dating back to the 1820s, this semi-detached property was home to the Co-operative manager during the 1900s. It was then purchased by the current owners in the 1970s, and recently refurbished in 2021. The house maintains many of the original features and character and is a comfortable and welcoming holiday home at any time of the year. The ground floor is taken up with a spacious living room, the real hub of the house, which has cosy seating. A dining room leads off there, and there is also a modern fitted kitchen. The back door leads to a small courtyard with seating and a barbeque for al fresco eating. The first floor has three well-presented, spacious bedrooms: one kingsize, one double and one twin. The family shower room offers a large walk-in shower.

Step outside and the local pub, cafés and restaurants are a few minutes’ walk away. About a century ago, a town house dating back to the 18th century burned to the ground in the centre of the village. Rennie Mackintosh was employed to rebuild this house, and this remarkable A-listed dwelling is now available for rent as a holiday retreat.
In the staircase’s stairwell is a photo of Mackintosh’s workbook, in his own handwriting, detailing his tenders for the work. As you enter the house from the street, you climb the panelled staircase to the front door. Located on this level is the living area with an open plan kitchen, leather suite, open fireplace and dining area. The kitchen features a fine Art Deco mirror over the original fireplace. In the front room, windows look out onto the nearby churchyard and river, which is only a minute’s walk away, and to the rear, across garden areas. There is a handy toilet on this level too. As this house is cute and quirky head downstairs to the lower level, where you will find two cosy snug double bedrooms (accessed by another Mackintosh staircase’ different from the ones you entered the property). One bedroom, with a lovely Mackintosh-style bed, has a cosy en-suite with a shower cubicle and toilet, and the second double bedroom has what looks like a wardrobe, which if you open, reveals a full size spa bath with shower over.
