It also has a large sitout deck on the upper floor with comfortable outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Every bedroom has a small TV and the two living rooms have full sized TVs. The backyard is fenced and so safe to let your pet out without worry. Mains at Taymouth also has a golf course which we could not use unfortunately as it rained on the day we had planned to play. There is a very well stocked shop in the complex open all 7 days. There are 3 good restaurants : Courtyard which is in the complex itself, Waterfront (with excellent Loch views) across the road in Kenmore Club Hotel, and Ferryman’s Inn which is just 5 minutes drive away. We loved the latter two more because they are next to the Loch. Aberfeldy is just 6 miles away and has more eating options and also fuel station and larger stores like Co-op and ASDA. All in all, a lovely stay and we look forward to visiting again. "

It would be so nice if this was complementary but understandable limits due to the pandemic. Directly from the garden guests can follow the path to the River Lyon through the countryside.

Just a few minutes’ walk into the picturesque village of Fortingall, there is a hotel serving food, a pub and restaurant, as well as an historic church with a famous yew tree which is the oldest living thing in Europe.

For guests who enjoy exploring the area on foot or by bike there are lots of established footpaths, quiet roads and cycle paths available from the cottage. There are outdoor activities to suit all tastes with mountains to climb, white water rafting, mountain bike trails, horse riding and golf courses all nearby. Loch Tay and Kenmore are well worth a visit and offer good places to eat, boat trips on the loch (in season) and a loch beach. The Scottish Crannog Centre on the shore shows you how we lived 2500 years ago and is one of Scotland’s top heritage sites. Aberfeldy can be reached within a 15-minute drive and is a popular destination with a good selection for places to eat, local shops, galleries, community cinema, book shop and walks along the River Tay. Dewars Whisky Distillery offers tours and you can sample some of their produce. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

- "This was by far the best maintained VRBO rental I've ever stayed in. The kitchen was well stocked with tools, the beds were warm and comfortable, and the house was spotlessly clean. Only salt and pepper are provided in the pantry but there is an herb garden at the door. The location is rural with views of the valley and is peaceful. Karen was immediately available via phone when I had questions about finding the house and key. Entry is via a lock box so once you've worked out where that is and which house this is in the small row of about 4 houses, it's easy to check in."
