Drumguish is a fantastic base for mountain biking and there are many off-road routes right from the door. Whether you prefer a gentle ride on the Speyside Way, exploring the estate tracks, challenging singletrack or even riding up a Munro, it's all here. There are some lovely road cycling options on quiet back roads too, There is a large shed next to the house for you to store bikes, skis, snowboards and other outdoor equipment. We welcome pets - you can walk for miles straight from the house with your dog(s), often without meeting a single soul. House cats are welcome too! (just bring your own litter tray and litter).
Explore the forest right next to the house or perhaps embark on a day walk to the waterfalls at Glen Feshie with a picnic. Walk the triangular route to the local village of Insh and back (part of the Badenoch Way) or plan an epic adventure to Braemar or Blair Atholl following ancient cattle drover routes. If you’re an experienced hillwalker the Lairig Ghru is also accessible from here and is one of Scotland’s iconic long distance walks.
If you want to get more distance under your belt, head out on your mountain bike and pick up the trails at Glen Feshie or Inschriach, follow the newly constructed Speyside Way from the door to Kincraig or Aviemore in one direction and Ruthven Barracks or Newtonmore the other way. Venture further afield and you have the beautiful trails of Loch an Eilein, Loch Morlich, Rothiemurchus forest & beyond. You could easily spend a week or more, exploring all the local trails. If you prefer a more skill-based MTB scene, then Laggan Wolftrax is just a few miles down the road. There are some excellent cafes to include on your route!
When there’s white stuff on the ground, dust off your skis and snowboards & head to Cairngorm Mountain (just over half an hour away) or the Lecht/Nevis Range (a comfortable hour and a half drive) for a great day on the slopes.
If you prefer to stay in, light the cosy open fire and settle down with a good book. At night it’s so peaceful the only sound you can hear are the owls calling to each other in the forest. Or head outside and look up at the endless starry skies. From the living room window you could spot red squirrels, deer, pine marten, and maybe even the elusive badger, not to mention all the birds who call this area home. Bring your binoculars and camera! We can't promise you'll spot Michaela Strachan, Iolo Williams or Chris Packham, but lots of the wildlife and landscape you may have seen on Springwatch, Autumnwatch or Winterwatch are right here on the doorstep. We have a family of red squirrels who frequent the garden and keep us amused with their antics chasing each other around the trees, and burying their nuts in the grass. A pine marten visits frequently late at night to help himself to some peanuts, and if you get up early, roe deer can be seen drinking from the stream in the forest.
Kingussie is 3 miles away and has all the facilities you need – a well-stocked Co-op, a great local butchers (D Gilmour), artisan cheeses at The Cheese Neuk, Joe’s Chippy & The Sugar Bowl Café (all tested and declared excellent!). The Post Office Art Café in Kincraig is a short drive away, and is one of our favourite places to cycle to from the house (the cakes make an excellent reward for your effort!)
If you need to catch up with the outside world (we rarely do once we’re here) then the house has WiFi so you can plan those family days out to the amazing RZSS Kincraig Wildlife Park (4 miles away), Newtonmore’s fabulous Folk Museum (also 4 miles away) and perhaps further afield to the Landmark visitor centre at Carrbridge, or a Steam Train trip to Boat of Garten (the local shop here sells a great selection of hot drinks, cakes and pastries) You could also plan a tour of the local whisky distilleries if Scotland’s favourite tipple is more your thing.

- "Absolutely loved Glenfeshie house, very spacious, clean, beautifully furnished, set in idyllic location. Games room was a bonus for both kids and adults. Lovely walks close to the house. Only downside is that we could of done with an extra oven when cooking for 8 people, but that wouldn't put us off staying there again. Drying room was brilliant for getting wetsuits and swim clothes dry. Would definitely stay there again as the house felt like a home."

Our flat was newly converted and renovated in 2019 so is essentially a new build. It is huge, all the rooms are large and has the feel of a house not flat. With environmentally friendly central heating, new carpets, large fitted kitchen and sparkling new bathroom you are sure to have a comfortable stay.

The flat is conveniently located in the small Highland town of Kingussie above our Chapel House Arts/ Fused and Light gallery with shops, cafes and pubs nearby. It is based in the Cairngorms National park with superb scenery and outdoor pursuits opportunities. But we are also located close to the physical centre of Scotland so Loch Ness and the Cromarty coast and dolphins are all within easy driving distance.

The flat is on two floors. The ground floor just has a utility, toilet and storage. Upstairs is the main living space and comprises one large double bedroom and one twin bedroom, a large open plan kitchen/dining/ living space, family bathroom and an additional small sitting room. We are experienced hosts so have everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is no access to the garden as it is a work in progress, but if you bring pets the Church of Scotland next door has a lovely churchyard and there is space downstairs for a large dog crate.

The Cottage is located in the highlands of Scotland, and the largest National Park in Britain. It is set among the majestic pine woods of Drumguish, with mountain views and teeming with wildlife. It is close to the town of Kingussie with its shops and golf course, and in easy reach of Aviemore with its ski slopes on Cairngorm mountain. The area is a walkers' paradise with lowland and upland trails starting direct from the cottage. Cyclists and mountain bikers also have immediate access to the tracks in Insh Forest, Glen Feshie and beyond.
The Cottage has been converted from an old crofters cottage and now has all amenities including central heating, double glazed windows and two wood burning stoves with all the wood you need included.

The house is beautiful and comfortable and the garden has plenty space for the children to run around. We enjoyed some excellent nights in the pub next door and water activities at Loch Insh, plus visits to Aviemore, Kingussie and Landmark, which are all close by." - "We stayed at Suidhe Lodge for a family birthday celebration, there was 17 of us in total and plenty of space for everyone. The lodge was very clean, had excellent garden space and facilities - the hot tub and BBQ were favourites amongst our group! The lodge is in a great location, plenty of walks nearby and only 20 mins drive from Aviemore centre. There was also a wood fired pizza van that set up in the car park one evening and a small pub with band one night too. Very easy check in service, excellent communication from the host and an ideal location to explore. We would definitely recommend this lodge to everyone, thank you for a great stay!"

- "The location was excellent, the bed comfortable and the bathroom adequate Where to start? The absence of outside table meant we could not comfortably have a drink outside in the excellent weather. The only cups provided were small coffee cups, there were no mugs or teapot. The fridge had a chill box area not suitable to store frozen food, there were no laundry facilities etc."

The apartment is conveniently located in the small Highland town of Kingussie with shops, cafes and pubs nearby. It is set in the Cairngorms National Park with superb scenery and outdoor pursuit opportunities and is also close to the physical centre of Scotland so Loch Ness and the Cromarty coast and dolphins are all within easy driving distance. - "Don't be put off by the creepy entrance down an alley and into a dark corridor and utility room. Once you get upstairs the flat is lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The owners husband was great, he fixed the heating for me and organised use of a microwave. There wasn't one in the flat and I needed it for medical reasons. I didn't have to travel very far while I was there as there is so much to do in the area. I did the wildcat walk and the Highland folk museum in the next village and went to Highland Wildlife park a few miles away. But if you do want to go further the A9 is right on the doorstep."
