This lovely historic home was built in 1902 by the Rich Lumber Company when they came to pull lumber from this charming hamlet. This cottage was originally a mill worker boarding house but was converted into a family owned home purchased by John T. Olson who immigrated rom Sweden. The cottage is made out of original hemlock and has two bedrooms, one bath with the original claw foot tub/shower, a cozy family room with a wood pellet stove, a morning room, a large enclosed porch, full kitchen, breakfast bar and dining area. Two kayaks and two bicycles are included with the cottage and are available for your use. The home still has many of the original antique furnishings including the icebox that the Olson family stored their dairy products in to sell to the townspeople of Wanakena. Enjoy your morning coffee in front of the wood pellet stove in the cozy living room or in an Adirondack chair on the large wrap-around, screened-in porch surrounded by the aroma of balsam firs. Walk one block to the quaint village center. Go for a swim or launch the house kayaks at the public beach just 2 blocks away. Walk accross the river on our historic walking bridge which is what brings many people to the Hamlet. Walk to the tennis courts, basketball court or playground which is also set up for Pickle Ball. Take a self-guided walking tour of Wanakena, courtesy of the Wanakena Historical Association and visit our newly opened Wanakena History Center right on 2nd Street! For an old time feel, go to Otto's Abode in town and buy some candy or ice cream. You can also walk into the cooler for a beer. Take advantage of abundant opportunities for hiking, boating, fishing, and exploring, as well as easy day trips to visit the Adirondack Experience museum in Blue Mountain Lake, the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, or the tourist shops in Lake Placid and the High Peaks Region. Be sure to look up at night where it is not uncommon to see the Milky Way. Although this property sleeps 4, we have air mattresses and can sleep 6 people easily. Please note our camp is closed from November - May
- "It's a great location, walking distance to kayak launching, a small store, and a level 2 EV charging station. The cottage is nice and has two nice porches, one of which is glassed in for 3 seasons. We used the supplied kayaks in 3 different days. There is a restaurant close by but no full grocery store. We brought groceries from home." - "Like the rest of the Wanakena-ites Lynn is welcoming, warm without being intrusive, and eager to inform about the wonderful variety of pleasures in such a tiny place. The house is just like the town. Authentic and homey comfort with enough of what we needed and no annoying excesses or showy frills. Our only complaint is we have to wait until next year to sit in the most comfortable chair we have ever sat it. The new Wanakena history museum is across the street. Lyn and the other people in town gave us the feeling we were honorary citizens of Wanskena for a week without any of the responsibilities. Enjoy."

- "Great little house only 12 minutes from the ESF Ranger School where we were visiting our daughter. Had everything we needed. Beds were very comfy, kitchen fully stocked with all the essentials. Thank you! " - "I rented this cottage so my family could attend my son's graduation from ESF Ranger School. It was a great choice--just a 15-minute drive from campus, the house had plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably and was perfectly outfitted for our weekend stay. We especially appreciated the big windows which gave us lovely views of the forested setting, and the efficient central heat. We dressed for chilly weather, but it's cold in the Adirondacks! The house has been beautifully renovated and was clean and tidy. "

We have an aluminum canoe, a fiberglass guideboat, and a double kayak available for guests to use.

- "This was our second year staying at this property and we love it! Well maintained and fully stocked. " - "Beautiful property which was perfect for our family of six. We especially enjoyed using the kayak and paddle boards and hanging out on the dock to enjoy the peaceful lake." - "Very Nice. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen/dining layout spacious enough for all 6 of us. Bring extra garbage bags. Seating on deck and by the lake was great and enough for all 6 of us. We had a campfire by the lakeside for 2 nights, wonderful! Quiet, peaceful. We used one of the kayaks there, but the others had mud, leaves, etc in them. Be prepared to get some vigorous steps in going up and down the hill. Public boat launch is just down the road. I would stay again if it was sunny and we had the chance to swim in the lake, as it was clean, clear and no seaweed! Wanakena Fire Tower and trail nearby for a short hike. Carry Falls Reservoir also closeby for another paddle. General store in town had everything we needed plus icecream cones."

- "We are the original owners of this property so it was especially wonderful to stay once more at this beautiful property. The weather was fantastic, we had a family reunion of sorts with other siblings and family staying at other homes around the lake. Being able to share this special piece of heaven with our grandchildren was especially great. Two of the 3 grandsons caught fish and one caught a Pike! Very exciting! This property has it all - a beautiful lake view, log cabin with room for family gatherings, able to walk out the door and go on a hike and jump off the dock and take a swim!"

If a treetop lakeside getaway could cocoon you in its embrace so snuggly that you never wanted to return to the real world, then The Lodge at Star Lake would be a top contender! This sprawling four bedroom, 2 ½ bath, kid- and dog-friendly hilltop villa will appeal to those seeking a camp cabin/hunting lodge/woodsy retreat vibe for large family/close friends’ gatherings.
Are you seeking simple style, clean lines, and minimalistic décor? Then book elsewhere! If Adirondack backwoods charm and mid-century country chic had a baby, this would be it. Renovated bathrooms and kitchen add modern conveniences and luxury touches, while vintage treasures, collectibles, statement pieces, and flea-market finds evoke a frontier atmosphere.
21st century amenities include indoor plumbing, electric lights, large capacity washer and dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, 2 types of coffeemakers, and multiple ceiling and floor fans throughout (no AC available). Enjoy your morning coffee (or tea) from the back deck overlooking our quiet cove on Star Lake.
Venture down the staircase for a floating dock experience as the wooden raft is gently rocked by waves lapping the shore. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Mama and her ducklings. Be the captain of your own ship by renting the motorized wooden raft and taking your crew on an exploration of greater Star Lake – including the fabled Sand Bar. (Extra fee for raft and must have boaters’ safety course or boating license. Liability waiver required.) Kayaks, a canoe, paddles, and life preserves are provided for no additional charge.
Back inside, the Lodge Room features a vaulted beamed ceiling with log cabin walls, an epic rock fireplace (guests are asked to look but not light), a live edge bar top with beverage fridge, and a wraparound sofa begging to be sunk into. If you suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out), you will be torn between watching the flat screen smart TV, bolting out the front or back French doors leading to their respective decks, or twisting around to see what everyone is laughing about at the impossibly shiny (i.e. safe from spills) knotty pine farmhouse dining table.
Throughout the day any number of indoor or outdoor spaces will claim your attention. Catch stunning sunsets on the back deck as the water mirrors trees and sky. The spacious front deck abounds with comfortable conversational seating and cushioned dining plus a chef’s gas grill. Watch the children running and laughing on the lawn or challenge someone to a rousing game of corn hole. The adjacent sunken covered front porch offers a respite on hot summer afternoons. It’s also the perfect place to wait out a storm while raindrops pebble the metal roof. With fieldstone walls and lush foliage, it harkens to a secret garden. After dark, light up the firepit and break out the marshmallows.
Need some quiet time away from the boisterous joy? The Library offers a refuge nestled between the Sunroom and the Kitchen. Grab a book or flip through the smart TV channels with an ear cocked for murmurs from the crowd indicating it is time to rejoin the fun. Need even more solitude to work? Slip into the Sunroom beyond the Library and ease the door shut. Try to concentrate while drinking in the endless lake views through the wall of windows as you reluctantly pull up to the vintage desk whose top is exactly level with the windowsill…. With a daybed and sleeper sofa, the Sunroom is also perfect as extra sleeping quarters. Exhausted after a full day? Charm and comfort extend to the sleeping spaces.
The cozy downstairs main bedroom features a spa-like ensuite bathroom and picture window for one last glimpse of the lake before you sink into the king size bed. Three upstairs bedrooms (two twin beds, double bed, queen bed), each with their own unique rustic décor, share a bathroom with a double sink and tub/shower combination. With bathroom space always in demand, the downstairs Powder Room is more than just an afterthought. Even this most lowly of spaces (with the tiniest sink you ever will see) is elevated by landscape watercolors festooning nearly every inch of wall space.
We cherish the memories of times here with family and friends, and eagerly look forward to our next retreat. We know you will too. Book today at our Adirondack rustic hideaway.

- "My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lodge in Star Lake. It was big, beautiful, clean, and well-equipped. In short, everything we could have hoped for. The house is very spacious with plenty of rooms for everyone to gather as well as many nooks and crannies to retreat to if you need some quiet time. We hosted my whole family of around 18-20 people one afternoon and we all fit easily and comfortably. Every room has 1 or 2 ceiling fans and plenty of windows, so even on the 80+ degree days it was always comfortable in the house. The bathrooms were lovely with plenty of linens. The beds were all comfortable and clean. The kitchen was very well appointed. The only thing you'll need to bring from home is your food and beverages. The property was also very nice. The fire pit in front of the house seats 10 and is a great gathering spot. Sitting down on the dock was probably our favorite thing to do when we weren't in the water. We used the provided kayaks and paddled out to the sandbar for some afternoon swimming--highly recommended. The stairs down to the water are a good source of exercise, to be sure, but still worth it once you get there--though if you're brining canoes or kayaks with you, you'll want to put them in at the boat launch in town and paddle to the house to avoid hauling them down and up the hill. Thanks for the wonderful week!"

I would recommend this house to others." - "Pictures do tell 1000 words. Walking into the property.... smiles abound. The pictures are lovely but not sure justice is done by them. A Little About Us
Erin Bowman Park and Rachel Bullene Graham are longtime friends from Rochester, NY. During the summers, Rachel’s family graciously invited Erin to her camp on Cranberry Lake and the rest is history. When the opportunity came up for Rachel, Erin and their husbands to purchase the camp next door, we embraced it. We hope our friends, family and guests love it as much as we do. Rachel and Travis live locally in the hamlet of Wanakena (very close to Cranberry Lake). Erin and Jim live in Rochester, NY when they are not in the Adirondacks. Between Jim’s love of fishing and birding and Rachel and Travis’ knowledge of the area, you are in good hands.
- "This house was a great place for unwinding, getting away from it all! Everything was brand new, newly remodeled. Beds were very comfortable and the babbling brook next to the house was awsome....with the window open, it lulled you to sleep! Great view of the lake. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. I definitely recommend this property." - "The house was very clean. The kitchen was large and had everything we needed. We fished off the dock and caught sunfish, smallmouth bass, and catfish. We did use the canoe provided, but did not have time to try out the kayaks. The communication with the owner was excellent. They provided a lot of information about the area before we got there. Check in was very easy. My Wife and I would love to stay here again."

All we were there for was fishing, and it was perfect for us! Thanks, John!" - "We stayed here to be able to attend the SUNY ESF Ranger School Graduation. We only needed a place to lay our heads for the night, but I could see this property being a nice getaway for someone in the summer months. It's typical RV living, so know that going in, but it has all the conveniences you could need."

Evergreen Camp is set on Silver Lake, a calm, private lake across the street from Cranberry Lake. Evergreen Camp is a family-oriented, historic hunting lodge with 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. There is a small beach and a grassy shoreline with sandy lake bottom - small children easily wade into the lake. The large, well-equipped kitchen and ample seating make it easy to cook for and serve the whole, big family in style. Set right on the water with panoramic views of the lake and islands. There are plenty of boats: 2 canoes, large rowboat, kayak, and stand-up board; 2 boat docks and a floating dock (for diving). The great room is large enough to handle the 'whole crowd' for meals. Any overflow is easily accommodated on the large screened porch. 2 refrigerators, 2 stoves, two gas-grills, and a barbeque pit make cooking for a crowd easy. The beds are all real beds (with comfortable mattresses) in actual bedrooms with doors that shut, for your 'good night's sleep' and privacy. The private Silver Lake Shoreowners' nature trails include sections that can be walked by everyone from the very young to the very old. One master bedroom and a walk-in shower on first floor provide ease of access for those who need it. Enjoy a peaceful, family spot in Northwoods paradise. Pets considered. IF YOU MIND THE OCCASIONAL COBWEB OR HAVE TROUBLE CHANGING A LIGHT BULB BY YOURSELF, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!! Also, please note that we only rent by the week from Mid-June to Mid-September. Please contact us for more You Tube Links to tours of the cabins or go to "Google Sites Evergreen Camp". Property damage policy is required to rent our camp.
- "Great rustic house and cabin. Plenty of rooms so everyone could get away and have their own space. Short walk down the hill to our private beach and two docks. No TV to distract people, just lots of card games into the night." - "My whole family (16 people) rented this property. We were amazed by the location on this beautiful secluded lake. There were many boats to use to explore it and we did a lot of fishing and paddling around it. The floating swim dock was really fun for all ages. We also enjoyed the hike around the lake! The cabins are older but suited being right on the lake. We loved the screened in porch for games at night and the huge window that my elderly grandma sat at all day and watched everyone from above. There were enough beds for everyone and many were very new. We had a plumbing issue during our stay but Wendy was on top of it and sent someone out to fix it. Overall we had a wonderful trip and would love to come back again!"

Surrounded by tall stately pines, our beautiful secluded and spacious lakefront house is located just a few steps from the crystal clear water of Star Lake, the “Gem of the Adirondacks”.
The lake front has a sandy beach, perfect for wading, as well as a dock that gets the daytime sunshine and views of the spectacular sunsets. There is also a wonderful sandbar within swimming distance from our shoreline, great for keeping cool while sunbathing, playing football, entertaining the kids, or just relaxing. We also provide use of our 3 kayaks, canoe, and paddle boat, for exploring the beautiful coves and shorelines of the lake.
The house itself has a gorgeous kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, and is well-supplied with all the dishes, cookware, glassware, and utensils you will need. The dining room has a grand dining table that will seat everyone, with French doors that open to the screened porch, for beautiful indoor/outdoor dining and relaxing.
The furnishings throughout are both lovely and comfortable, and fine bed linens are provided for all of the beds, as well as bath towels and beach towels. There are hardwood floors throughout the house, and two wood-burning fireplaces – one in the family room, and another in the dining room.
An L-shaped wrap-around screened-in porch spans the front and side of the house, with spectacular views of the lake. The porch has comfortable lounging porch furniture as well as a dining table/chairs for outdoor dining, taking in the fresh lake air, and enjoying the calls of the loons.
Our lakeside fire pit is a great place to roast smores, watch the sunset, and reminisce about the day’s adventures.
A special enclosed lean-to right next to the lake contains a king bed and nightstand – perfect as an extra sleeping option, and great for naps!
In addition, there is a carriage house at the entrance to the property, with a 1-bedroom apartment with 2 twin beds, a living/dining area, full bath, and a screened porch – great for additional room if needed.
This lakefront home is perfect for families and friends to gather and enjoy the summer months -- it's a great option as well as a gathering place to celebrate college graduations from nearby colleges and universities.

- "Couldn't have asked for anything better! This home is cozy, clean, and more than well-stocked with anything you may need. The owner kept good communication and was very responsive to any questions that we had. I would definitely recommend this home and will look to rent again if we plan another trip to Tupper Lake." - "Loved it! Would love to go back in the future!" - "This house has the most stunning and open floor plan with great furniture and a fantastic kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location between Cranberry Tupper Lakes is very nice as well. It is close to a lot of outdoor things to do. The fire pit in the back is amazing as well. Just a note - the house is on a pretty busy highway. The noise didn’t bother us in the bedrooms, but it did force us off the front deck and to keep the front door closed. "
