Although this cottage might be described as small, it has everything that a couple would need. The kitchen is well equipped with a two ring hob which is supplemented by the addition of a gas BBQ which sits on the upper terrace at the back of the property. The comfortable double bed can be partitioned off from the rest of the cottage by a curtain. This cuts out all ambient light but as there isn’t any from the outside, except for the sunshine in the morning and the moonshine at night a comfortable night's sleep is not a problem. There is ample space for clothes and the storage of luggage. The bathroom is clean, compact and the shower powerful and, for those who do not holiday without a hairdryer, the one provided is standard size! There are sliding doors and windows front and back, which could negate the need for the air conditioning provided but this can also pump out warm air if the nights should turn chilly. Outside is a joy. The terrace is secluded and on two levels, both get the full sun for the vast majority of the day. The lower terrace has 2 comfortable loungers, a table and chairs whilst the upper terrace has the gas fired BBQ on which to cook all of the produce you have bought from the local markets. The pool is great for a cool off after a hot day seeing the sights of the Luberon. Parking is directly outside the cottage and is completely safe. Added to all that Anne and Jean-Pierre are the most welcoming of hosts, they certainly could not do enough for us when we were there but didn’t invade our privacy. Given it’s location, 6/7 minutes walk from the Place de l'Etang in Cucuron, this is an ideal spot to sit back, have a dip, a glass of something cold and enjoy the sky. Would we return, definitely. - "We were totally blown away by the Luberon and this apartment is so well located to enjoy it. Every place we wanted to visit was around an hours drive or less (car is a must!) We didn't know much about Cucuron the local village but were pleasantly surprised to find it was idyllic with everything you need there. Lovely bakery and local wine shop, decent Spar, great little market on a Tuesday and cafes and restaurants. It was too cold to use the pool while we were there so having the hot tub was a real plus. The apartment itself is simple but comfortable with some nice designer touches. The kitchen has a Nespresso machine, big fridge freezer, dishwasher, no oven but a hob and lots of pots and pans. Everything you need to make simple meals. The benefit of staying in an apartment attached to a bigger house is the amazing grounds, poolside terrace and private terrace all with stunning views of the Luberon. We were even given lavender essential oil and olive oil produced on the grounds as a gift! We had a couple of small inconveniences, the internet wasn't working during our stay and the shower had a minor issue, none of which could be helped by Alex and she was extremely helpful and responsive the entire time. Her colleague Brigitte met us with the keys and showed us around, she was also great. Definitely recommend as an affordable base to explore this incredible area of France!"

Our house, Le Point, is a small stone cottage in a narrow street in the unspoilt village of Cucuron. It is part of the medieval village walls. Cucuron lies inside the Luberon Nature Park in the Provence region of France. It is a 40 minute drive north of Aix-en-Provence and 50 minutes from Marseille Airport.

The house is a treasure that has been in Matthew’s family since the 1970’s when the muralist Mary Adshead, his grandmother and wife of artist Stephen Bone, restored it so she had a bolt hole in an area of France she loved. The small bedroom is still decorated with Mary's Trompe-l'œil murals.

The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and lies at the foot of the Luberon hills. It has a traditional market on Tuesdays around a large rectangular carp pond (bassin) and paved square which is shaded by towering Plane trees, planted in 1815. This space is a focal point of the village and great place to sit and relax for a while.

The village houses a cooperative wine cellar where local farmers bring their grapes and the resulting wines can be tasted and purchased. A couple of walking trails start from the and you can discover the wine-growing activity around the area from a historical standpoint. There is also an olive mill on the outskirts of the village that does tours and has a shop.

Cucuron is an unspoilt Provencal village abounding with character, ideal for a week or two relaxing or visiting the wider region by car. It has shops, bars and restaurants together with wonderful views and masses of character, all reachable in a few minutes.

THE HOUSE
Tucked away down a short medieval street is Le Point, is a characterful village house.
GROUND FLOOR:
The front door, set in thick stone walls, opens into a spacious vaulted double bedroom, with king size bed.
A single bedroom, which makes a good dressing room for a couple, and bathroom are accessed via this main bedroom.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a washing machine. The double bedroom includes comfortable seating for two, and a fireplace that can be used in the winter months. Thick stone walls mean that the ground floor rooms are relatively cool even in the height of Summer, but usefully retain heat in the cooler months.
FIRST FLOOR:
Reached by a steep set of ancient stone stairs (not suitable for small children or those with mobility issues) there is a light and airy living room/kitchen/diner and small terrace.
The living area includes a double sofa bed. The kitchen area contains an oven, with hob and grill, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and all the pots, pans and crockery you would need to cater at home.
It also includes an eclectic collection of books. Views from the kitchen window are breathtaking. The very small private terrace is suitable for two to sit, enjoy the sun and eat.

Wonderful little hideaway in the storybook Provencal village of Cucuron. The previous reviewer described it perfectly...white washed stone walls and ceilings, challenging staircase and an adorable hand painted trompe l' oeil mini-bedroom. Roomy, fully functional kitchen/dining/living area upstairs, bedrooms downstairs. The kitchen has a wonderful little balcony with THE BEST view of the countryside. The owners are friendly and respond quickly to correspondence. Be sure to read the big scrapbooks in the bookcase upstairs...wonderful story of the artist family that purchased this little jewel of a home.

- "As the pictures indicate, Le Point is charming and a tiny bit eccentric. Matthew and Pauline were very helpful hosts, and gave good instructions on getting there, and getting in. You open the massive outer door with a huge iron key, and enter a big bedroom with fireplace. A modern bathroom and second smaller bedroom open off this room. We were renting the last week of April and the weather was unusually cool, so we were glad of the extra duvet and the electric heaters - I'm sure that summer renters are equally glad to be kept cool by sleeping downstairs within thick stone walls. The stairs are a bit of a challenge, as Matthew's description indicates - you learn to make sure you don't forget anything when you head upstairs to the kitchen and living area - but the bed is very comfortable, the water is hot, WiFi never failed, the clothes washer worked fine, and the kitchen is well stocked with pretty dishes and sensible cooking equipment, great for cooking a meal after the Tuesday market in Cucuron. We enjoyed having morning coffee on the sunny little terrace. Cucuron itself is completely charming, and we were glad to come back there after days spent looking at more famous (and crowded) villages nearby. We had wonderful meals at La Petite Maison and at MatCha, and the friendly nearby boulangerie has delicious croissants - it feels very magical to walk through the arch under the clock tower in the morning in search of croissants. It was also a privilege to live for a week with Mary Adshead's beautiful high-spirited murals, which are even more lovely than Matthew's photographs of them convey."

The villa is located in the middle of the hill, with a very nice view over the valley of Aigues and the Sainte Victoire Mountain. This property offers 16 hectares of estate for hikes lovers and nature lovers. Springs run all year long. You can enjoy a bath in the swimming pool (13x5). It is equipped with a sunken beach (perfect to relax in the water), a little basin for children and a large basin (10x5).

- "We have just returned from a 7 night stay with our three children (15,14 & 10). The Villa is located within a quiet residential area surrounded by vineyards and olive grows. We visited Cucuron on market day and sampled much of the local produce. We ate in every evening with ease due to all utensils and crockery being available. The villa itself was spotless, each room was decorated beautifully and the recently renovated lower ground floor area was a perfect area to relax. We spent our days relaxing by the pool and utilised the gardens and outdoor kitchen area. The pool was large and clean. There were plenty of sun loungers and outdoor seating areas. We made use of the Boules area which was a great family activity. On a final note I must thank our hosts, they greeted us personally and gave us a tour of the villa and grounds. They were available if needed and made every effort for us to have a great holiday. To summarise, the Villa enabled us to relax and enjoy our time as a family.
