This was a fantastic place to stay and we are already planning out return"

This beautiful, modern villa is nestled in the quiet Melrose Resort community on Daufuskie Island. During your stay in our villa, you will enjoy ocean views from every room, warm ocean breezes on the large screened-in porch, and short walks to the white sandy beach. Views of the marsh and ocean abound, and there's plenty of sea life and nature to enjoy as old southern charm surrounds you on Daufuskie Island, with its beautiful moss-covered oaks and rocking chair front porches.

Whether coming to Daufuskie for the first time or a seasoned visitor, you are sure to appreciate the unspoiled beauty the island has to offer. Since the island is only accessible by ferry, visitors on the island are limited. The beach is uncrowded and there may be times you find yourself alone on the beach. There are very few cars on Melrose, making it quiet and safe for the entire family to walk, bike, and play. And best of all, the beach will be just steps from your villa.

When booking, PLEASE NOTE our place is listed as pet friendly, but we only allow dogs (with a $100 pet fee per stay and completed pet addendum) and our HOA only allows up to 2 dogs in our villa. We are also only allowed a maximum of 6 overnight guests in our place per the fire ordinances in our area and cannot accommodate groups of more than 6 guests. Please provide the total number of guests in your group and if you will be bring any dogs with you on your trip, please check the “Traveling with Pets” box when when booking so I can accurately relay the information to our grounds transportation crew who will be picking you up at the dock. Also PLEASE BE AWARE our villa is located on Daufuskie Island, which is only accessible by passenger ferry and you cannot bring your car to the island. You must book one of the ferry/boat services to the island and leave your car at their dock. Cottage Carts (road-ready golf carts) are the main form of transportation while on the island and you can easily book a cottage cart or bikes for use during your stay with one of our locals rental companies. Though we do not include a cottage cart, all of our rentals include ground transportation between our villa and the dock on arrival and departure and our place is within walking distance of the beach (approximately 100 yards) and the Melrose Beach Club and Oyster house (approximately 200 yards). Access to the Pool and Fitness Center at the Melrose Beach Club and Oyster House for up to 6 adults/children are also included throughout your stay. Additionally, we provide beach chairs, resort-style beach towels, a beach umbrella, and a beach cart with a selection of toys for your use during your stay so you do not have to bring those over to the island and you can relax and enjoy your vacation.

The are 4 villas in our building with the same floorplan. One unit directly behind us and two units directly below us. We have a shared entrance to the stairwell at the ground floor of our building and then a private entrance to our screened porch and villa. The screened porch is not shared and has doors leading to the porch from the main living area as well as each bedroom. All areas of the screened in porch face the ocean with direct views to the beach and ocean which are just a 100 yards away. The Villa's main living area features spectacular ocean views with the sunlight and moonlight glinting like diamonds off the water throughout the day. The living room features a full sofa, two large chairs, a large TV with DVD player and Cable TV, including air play and streaming to most popular internet streaming channels. The kitchen is fully equipped with service for 6 and full-size stainless steel appliances, garbage disposal, and dishwasher, making meal preparation easy for you and your family throughout your stay. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining area or screened porch and each area seats up to 6 comfortably. A full-size washer and dryer is located in the closet just behind the dining area to make island life more convenient.

The Master bedroom features a king-size bed with beautiful views of the sunrise and sunset. From the Master there is direct access to the screened porch, so you can enjoy the rocking chairs or balcony height table for two without disturbing your guests. In the Master, there is a TV with a DVD player and Cable TV with internet streaming capabilities. The Master bath features a jetted tub for two, dual sinks, and a large walk-in shower. The Guest bedroom also features beautiful views of the ocean for your family and friends to enjoy. There are 2 queen beds, a TV with a DVD player, and Cable TV with internet streaming capabilities. There is something about a charming beach cottage that is absolutely irresistible, don't you think? The stunning hydrangea blue siding, white trim, nautical touch décor, and windows that let in the sound of crashing waves, what's not to love?
This comfortable cottage is endearingly named "Beach Haven". We think everyone should have a "haven", so why not one on the beach. From the moment you step inside, you'll be swept right off your feet.
At just 1600sf this adorable seaside getaway is located on the charming island of Daufuskie, South Carolina. As you enter the front door you will quickly see that the "open living" floor plan makes this cottage feel much larger than it really is. (Please see the pictures.)
But wait until you open the French doors and take a look at the 12'X 30' screened-in back porch. It is not only decorated with wicker furniture, and a marble top wrought iron table, but there is a very unique walnut swing bed. Of course, on the back landing is a gas outdoor grill. This spacious back porch is nestled in a grove of live oak trees, dripping with Spanish moss. It gives you a tree house feeling and it overlooks the 6th green and the 7th tee of the Bloody Point golf course.
The upstairs is totally devoted to the master bedroom and master bathroom. It has a sitting area and a walk-in closet to make you comfortable.
Under the house you will find another deck for your pleasure. There is an outside shower with a place to wash the sand off and two bikes, beach chairs, boggie boards, skim boards, beach games and toys, all for your use.
Because of liability issues we cannot allow you to use our golf carts. So, we suggest you rent a golf cart for your stay on Daufuskie. We can help you arrange this and it will be delivered and waiting for you. Also, we will help you with the logistics of the Ferry trip to and from Daufuskie and any other transportation needs. Part of the adventure and uniqueness of Daufuskie is getting there and then exploring the Island in a golf cart. What fun!!
Since the beach is just 200 yards from Beach Haven, it is just a short golf cart ride, or bike ride, or a short walk. This is great for early birds to take in a stroll on the beach before the rest of the house awakes or the convenience of running back to the house to get something you forgot, or the bathroom, or maybe fix a beach lunch.
Also, within walking distance in the opposite direction from the beach is the historic Bloody Point Lighthouse. It has a gift shop for unique and special gifts, food items, and wine! There is a video room which features a short historic video about Daufuskie and the Lighthouse. Outside is a very interesting garden area with horticulture examples of the Island's Plantation farming history. And, a viewing area to look at 3 bald eagle nest. Beach Haven is within 500 yards of five nest and eagles and other birds are wonderful for bird watching.

The sleeping arrangements are as follows:
Upstairs is completely devoted to a master suite. A full size bed is in front of Easterly facing windows, giving you a view of the ocean and spectacular sunrises without getting out of bed. And, the master bath is stunning. Downstairs is a full bathroom and a den/second bedroom with a queen size Murphy bed. It's brand new and very comfortable. Also, there is a queen size sofa bed in the living room. Even though it appears that this cottage sleeps quite a few, we recommend 4 guests. However, we will be happy to entertain your request for more guest. Just message us.
I left out that we have fiber optics high speed wifi. And, our TV is a smart TV.

- "This is our first time using any of the short term rental sites, and we were a little hesitant about the process. BUT. Let me tell you about this wonderful home, and the amazing people who are listing it! From the day that I booked for our vacation, we've had a line of communication open with the on island rep for this home. She's so sweet, and recommended ferries to book and companies to get carts from to scoot around the island. The home itself? Immaculate. So beautiful and clean, it felt like visiting a family member's home instead of something booked online. We used to stay exclusively in nicer hotels on vacation, but this is BETTER. Bathrooms were stocked up with all the essentials, the kitchen had all your basics covered, and good grief. This house is gorgeous. I LOVE this home. There was a full binder worth of info about the island, including some how-to, menus for the island's restaurants, and a map with the route to the beach. There's no central AC in the home, but the mini splits kept everything nice and cool for when you came back from your adventures. Daufuskie Island has cemented itself in both of our hearts, to the point that we were looking on Zillow the first night of our trip. To the owners: You have made such a beautiful and loving space in an amazingly gorgeous island. I hope every day you spend in your home is just as wonderful as the brief two (just two!! The Neighborhood:
Location, location, location! The beautiful and spacious Blue Breeze Cottage provides its lucky renters with a front row view of the Atlantic Ocean that has to be seen to be appreciated. Talk about a WOW factor!! Imagine yourself driving on your rented golf cart through a quiet road lined with Live Oaks draped with Spanish moss, pulling up to the back entrance of your vacation home, walking into your bright and spacious living room, and being greeted with a dazzling panorama of the ocean and blue sky just beyond. Trust us…It just doesn’t get any better than this!

You will find yourself strolling from your cottage to the beach over and over. This pristine and secluded beach is perfect for long walks, jogging, and even bike riding. (No golf carts here, though! This is a nesting area for the endangered Loggerhead Turtles.) Families especially enjoy the relatively calm waters where children can swim and play. It’s a great beach for building sandcastles and hunting for shells and sand dollars after the tide goes out. There is a communal pool that is open to the public if open for season. Well-behaved canine family members are welcome, but must be adult dogs, housetrained, must stay off of furniture, not be incessant barkers, and must be friendly towards humans and other dogs. Upon departure, the vacation home should look as though no pet had been in it, including removal of pet hair. There is a pet fee of $125 for one dog, and $175 for two dogs.

In addition, the property manager must approve all pet requests. Your dog must be over one year old, not be aggressive towards people or other pets, be house trained, will not get up on the furniture, and is ok with being left alone when you are away from the cottage (e.g no incessant barking or destructive behavior). We also ask that you be a responsible pet owner when the dog is outside, that there will be no signs that your pet was in the property when you depart, and that you will be responsible for any damage and/or extra cleaning caused by your dog.

WIFI is Free during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with service for 8 or more with full size stainless steel appliances, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and a stocked Coffee/Tea Bar, making meal preparation easy for you and your family throughout your stay - even Holidays!

A laundry room with washer and dryer is also available to make island life more convenient and comfortable; and there is a high chair and pack & play for your infant and toddler needs.

However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.

2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)

3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.

Getting Around:
IMPORTANT: DAUFUSKIE ISLAND HAS NO BRIDGE, AND IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A FERRY OR WATER TAXI TO GET HERE. YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE AND RENT A GOLF CART TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND.

Note: This cottage is a duplex, but is completely separate from the next door unit with total soundproofing and no shared spaces (including the porches) with the next door cottage. Daufuskie Rental Group also manages the next door cottage, the Daufuskie Escape Cottage, and large families may want to consider renting both these units (which are decorated in very similar fashion) for their Daufuskie get-togethers.

Well-behaved canine family members are welcome, but must be adult dogs, housetrained, must stay off of furniture, not be incessant barkers, and must be friendly towards humans and other dogs. Upon departure, the vacation home should look as though no pet had been in it, including removal of pet hair. There is a pet fee of $125 for one dog, and $175 for two dogs.

Beautiful inside and out with every amenity you can imagine. The screened porch is so nice. We also loved the bedrooms and the open kitchen/dining room/living room, which has a really nice surround sound speaker system. TVs were great and Wi-Fi worked well throughout the house. This house is a very short walk to the melrose beach which is nice. You can also easily take a cart to virtually any location on the island. Simply put, this house was perfect and we’ll be sure to rent it again. Highly recommended!"
