We received glass of champagne when we arrived which was a great touch. I loved being on the ground floor and able to walk right out to the beautiful courtyard and short walk to the beach. Mel was very thorough with going over what to expect with our stay. It was great talking with her some more like friends than staff and customer. I loved her Scottish accent. No issues with our stay. Dianne was great at checking us out when we left as well. Very sweet and friendly. If I could give one suggestion to the hotel it would be to add a mirror over the sink area or a plug near the mirror on the outside of bathroom door. My flatiron cord was long enough to see in the mirror good. But my hairdryer wasn’t. I have to wear glasses to see at distance and fixing your hair with glasses on is really hard. 5 star stay though anyway. We will come again and hope to book the same room next time too. "

Just one minute away you'll discover the 18 miles of bike trails surrounding the island. You can bike to the fishing pier or the beach and arrive in mere minutes. Or, you may want to visit the Historic District, where over 300 millionaires of the Gilded Age once lived. Movers and shakers of the times like J.P Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, William Rockefeller and others built homes and a Club House on our island, beginning in 1888. They typically spent 3-5 months down here yearly for the next 54 years. Their homes are being restored and many can be visited and appreciated.

We also have a world renowned Sea Turtle Center, where injured and sick turtles are flown in for surgeries and rehabilitation, and later released back to the sea. Bike toward the south and visit the Tidelands Nature Center, enjoy bird and wildlife viewing, or swim and sunbath on our 12 miles of white sand beaches. We have a seasonal Summer Waves Water Park, four famous golf courses, Red-bug Motorcar rentals, carriage rides and trolley tours. "Aloft" is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in between the Jekyll Island airport and the campground. That puts us 5 to 10 minutes from the Jekyll Island beaches by car. Bicycle paths start one block from the house.

Also, you should know that "Aloft" is an open and airy unit with lots of natural light. It has a private entrance through our garage. You may hear the garage door open and close at 6:30 or so in the morning during the days of Monday through Friday (also some occasional weekend days) as that is the time that we go to work. That has not bothered most of our guests, but we don't want that to be a surprise. Otherwise the unit is very quiet. Kitchen facilities are limited. Cooking facilities are a toaster oven, a two burner hot-plate and a microwave. The refrigerator is hotel sized.

A Poolside Paradise is a beautiful, renovated 2 bedroom, 1 bath second-floor entry end unit villa located in the oceanfront Villa by The Sea Resort (VBTS). This 17-acre resort is located on the north side of Jekyll Island directly adjacent to the world-famous Driftwood Beach which ranks #3 in the US and #12 in the world by TripAdvisor’s “Best of the Best Beaches”. Directly across the road is Horton Pond, a natural habitat that is perfect for bird watching and seeing other wildlife.

When you enter the villa, you will find a bright and open floorplan living room, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker. Sliding glass doors lead to a balcony overlooking the large outdoor pool with peek-a-boo views of the ocean. The living room has a media cabinet with a flat screen 50-inch TV offering Direct TV, state of the art Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating.

On the second level you will find a large main bedroom with a queen-size bed with plenty of storage for clothes in drawers and the closet. There is also a flat screen TV. This room features sliding doors leading to a small balcony overlooking the pool with more views of the ocean. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds for the kids or extra guests, along with a flat screen TV. Our Villa is family friendly and comes with a Pack-n-Play and booster highchair seat. A large, shared hall bathroom has been beautifully remodeled and updated featuring 2 sinks and a tub/shower combo.

For your convenience, the resort has a restaurant and tavern, as well as a business center and snack/gift shop (open 24 hours/day). Gas and charcoal grills are steps from the unit, right next to the pool. Our villa is just steps away from the boardwalk and pavilion, which has many chairs for you to sit and enjoy stunning ocean views.

Children can enjoy the Pirate Ship playground and the kiddie pool. Families can enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, and cornhole at the resort. The resort also has a fitness room, bike rentals, and discounted golf tickets.

The island abounds with natural beauty; over two thirds of the island is protected habitat of beautiful live oak trees and marshes. Birds and wildlife (including alligators) abound. Jekyll Island is close enough for day trips to Cumberland Island, St. Simons Island, the Okefenokee Swamp, Jacksonville, and Savannah. Jacksonville Airport is one hour away.

The island boasts three 18-hole golf courses, a tennis center, twenty-five miles of bike/walking paths and a fishing pier. Tours of the historic district, the beautiful Gilded Age “cottages", and Mosaic Museum are available. - "This condo was perfect for our little family . It was less then five minutes to walk to the beach it had a nice covered sitting area on the beach with chairs so you can sit and view the ocean . The condo had two small balconies that over look the pool one is upstairs in the master bedroom the other downstairs in the living room area. The condo had plenty of space for all four of us! The beds could of been a little softer but that wasn’t deal breaker. Overall we will come back!"
