Tuckaway Cove is tucked away on 3 acres on a cove just off the Miles River. Conveniently located between St Michaels and Easton, with all that small quaint Eastern Shore Maryland towns have to offer. Love St Michaels? Spend the day shopping the local businesses and enjoy Ava’s brick oven pizza and a glass of wine or fresh Mex and margaritas at Gina’s. Later enjoy the sunset with fresh seafood at either the Crab Claw or Foxy's Harbor Grille, located right on the water in the harbor. Interested in Easton? Try Doc’s for great food and drinks in the pub like atmosphere or The Washington St Pub for an even more casual, relaxing atmosphere. Be sure to check out Storm and Daughters for their amazing variety of delicious ice cream flavors! If you are a coffee lover, do not miss Rise Up Coffee in Easton. They also have a drive up location on the road to St Michaels in the Graul’s Grocery parking lot. We also provide a limited supply of their wonderful coffee for you to taste in our freezer. There are many wonderful upscale restaurants in both towns as well and so much to see and do. We have many more recommendations in our house book, from museums to farmers’s markets to water sports. There are many options for dinner, shopping, exhibits, festivals, etc. Grocery stores are abundant and close. This area has so much to offer!

Tuckaway Cove is so quiet and relaxing all year round that you may not want to leave the spacious home and 3 acre property. Relax by the large pool, enjoy the abundant nature from the dock or take one of our 4 kayaks for a paddle out through the cove to the Miles River. You will enjoy eagles, osprey and blue herons right on our property. Take a stroll through our quiet neighborhood with very little traffic to dodge. Enjoy the big beautiful trees that are abundant in our small community. We also have 2 crab traps to try your hand at crabbing. If you are successful the grill has a large side burner to cook them with some Old Bay and vinegar, which we stock in our pantry. Then enjoy a crab feast on the patio in the shade of the large trees or under the patio umbrella. Bring your fishing poles and try your luck at catching some amazing Chesapeake Rockfish as well.

The house is stocked with games for all ages, kids DVDs and books as well as a paperback book “lending library”. Hopefully one of the books will interest you for some summer reading.

We have Wifi throughout the house and an Alexa for your listening pleasure. The family room has a large smart TV with all of the popular apps. The playroom on the 2nd floor has a large flat screen TV with an Amazon Fire Stick and a DVD player. Please note that the rural nature of the area may limit Wifi at times, especially if several devices are connected at the same time.

Our home will provide you with adequate space for eight adults or any other combination of adults and children (under 18 months not counted toward total) totaling eight guests. There is a first floor master with a king bed and an attached bathroom with a tiled shower. This bath is also accessible from the laundry area for use by other guests. A first aid kit is located in the closet of this bathroom. The laundry room has an extra capacity, stacked washer and dryer. The first floor also has a large family room, dining room with a large farm table that seats 8 - 10 and a casual seating area. The kitchen is well stocked, including a pantry with many of the things you may need for cooking and baking (spices, sugar, flour, olive oil, vinegar, etc) to save you a lot of trips to the store. There is dish and dishwasher detergent, plastic wrap, tin foil and baggies. There are modern stainless steel appliances including a French door refrigerator/freezer, glass top range, microwave and dishwasher. We have provided plastic plates, bowls, utensils and drinking cups/wine glasses as well as paper plates, napkins and cups for little ones or eating outside by the pool. The dinette area attached to the kitchen has seating for 8 and is a great gathering place.

The 2nd floor contains the remaining 3 bedrooms including a large master with a king bed and an attached private bath with a large tiled shower. The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed and is located right next to the hall bathroom that has a tub/shower combination. A 4th bedroom has 2 twin beds that are sized for adults, but great for kids as well. It is located across the hall from the bathroom. There is plenty of closet and drawer space in all of the bedrooms for you to be able to unpack and unwind! Each bedroom has a “peg” rack to hang wet towels or bathing suits. As previously mentioned there is a playroom/pass though room that has toys, games, books, DVDs and a small TV and DVD player. There is also a futon for relaxing on while watching TV.

A portable crib (with sheets) is available upon request as well as a portable highchair and booster seats.

All bath towels and bed linens are provided and the beds will be made when you arrive. Each shower has dispensers filled with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is a hairdryer in each bathroom as well. We have provided a limited supply of paper towels and toilet paper to get you started.

A second refrigerator/freezer is available for use in the detached garage. There is often a bag of ice in there just in case the ice maker in the kitchen refrigerator cannot keep up!

Dock Information: 75' dock with water and electric; 1’ MLW

New for 2022 season...we've added a floating dock to allow for easier kayak access. Simply take the kayak down to the dock and enter it using the metal handle fixed to the dock.

Water Toys Included: 4 Kayaks, paddles and adult life vests.To ensure proper sizing for your group, please bring your own life jackets, or we can recommend a rental agency.

During the summer season there are regularly scheduled maintenance people for the lawn and pool. They must not be denied access to the property. We make every effort to let you know when to expect them. Trash pick up may also occur during your stay and you will be asked to bag and place all trash in the provided receptacles.

Please note that we have a Ring doorbell that is "on" at all times but not closely monitored during guest stays. We also have a security camera for pool and dock views, but it is also not closely monitored unless there is a concern for safety or violation of occupancy laws.

We hope you will visit our family-friendly vacation home on Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The home includes a private dock on the magnificent Wye River, with access to all of the many activities it affords, including water skiing, crabbing, and fishing. Situated on a peaceful 3/4 of an acre in a quiet neighborhood with easy access from Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis, this is a wonderful place to get away.

Looking for things to do? Play golf at nearby Queenstown Harbor, shoot some sporting clays at Pintail Point, or shop at the Queenstown Outlets. If you have access to a boat, take a ride down to Wye Island Natural Resource Management area for hiking and swimming. Read a book in the hammock, or sip a cocktail on the dock.

Have a boat? Bring it along and tie up! The low tide water depth is 2.5 feet though, so larger boats are better off anchoring in the deeper cove across the river.

The house sleeps 11, but with only two full bathrooms it is best suited for groups of up to six adults plus children.

We took the kayaks out on the creek, sat in the Adirondacks and looked at the bay, walked the grounds in awe, and spent time in the air conditioned living room and enjoyed almost the same view as you see outside via the wall of windows. The kitchen and pantry had everything we'd need to prepare a meal, appliances all worked great including the air fryer, bathrooms had toiletries and towels in plenty. Dining room was large enough for 6 people to spread out and play board games and eat. Of course there is St Michaels nearby providing loads of little shops and restaurants, and if you need anything at all the town of Easton in the other direction has all the big stores you're used to seeing at home. The property is very far off the main road, very private, but everything you need is 10 minutes away. Could not have asked for more!"

The house is brand new so usually we do not get a lot of bugs inside but it may sometimes happen since we live in a very rural area surrounded by nature. Guests to use hot tub at their own risk

The Captains Quarters was built in 1880 by local waterman, Captain John H. Osman. The Captain built 4 identical houses for the Captains of his fleet to enjoy. The Captains Quarters is registered with the Maryland National Historical Trust. This unique and cozy home takes you back in time, all while enjoying all of the modern amenities.
