It's right on the Delaware Bay in Slaughter Beach - a peaceful beach town where you can truly relax and unwind while still being close to everything you need. Designed for relaxation and comfort, this 4 bedroom, 3 bath haven offers breathtaking views, upscale amenities, and the tranquil charm of a quaint beach town with convenient access to nearby attractions.

Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of waves and stepping out onto a large deck with breathtaking views of the bay. Slaughter Beach is part of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. There's no shortage of every kind of shore birds, eagles, heron, and deer. The beach is perfect for long walks while looking for seashells and sea glass. It's quiet and serene yet just a short drive to the areas biggest attractions of Rehoboth and Lewes. Enjoy some of the best outlet shopping, concerts, boutiques, restaurants, and golf. We are close to the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, Dogfish Head Brewery, and the DE Turf Sports Complex.

- "A short drive to the DE Turf, this property was a wonderful place to enjoy our friends and families off the lacrosse fields. Well-appointed, this home had everything from kayaks to kitchen supplies, beach bikes to body wash.Ann is a very attentive property manager who made it easy to arrive, utilize, and depart from this large home with plenty of places to chill and play. The adults used the quiet sun porch, balcony, and deck to work in the mornings as the teens slept in on quiet, cool, and comfortable beds. Every night we had a lot of laughs playing games around the large table and enjoying drinks and dessert - even made s’mores at the fire pit. The bathrooms are all very nice with fluffy towels, excellent water pressure, are neat and clean. A person could create wonderful meals in the kitchen that has everything, and we did, but we also trotted over to Milford and Frederica for dinner a couple nights- easy drive with grocery and liquor stores nearby. My only regret was not staying here on other trips to Delaware! (It is a new VRBO property) It may seem more pricey than Dover or Reehoboth hotels, but we split the house among a few families and considering we ate 2 meals a day there and had all our snacks and entertainment included and had so much comfort and fun, we think it was a value! We have already recommended it to our friends for future trips. "

*The small lapping waves are easy for young ones to negotiate and wade while enjoying the water.

*This is a natural beach and there can be bugs, mosquitoes, horseflies, etc, and may be worse depending on how the wind is blowing. We do reccomend bringing bug spray.

*The Cedar Creek Marina, with access to the Mispillion River leading to the Delaware Bay, is just minutes away and can be contacted for fishing trips. There is also a FREE newly renovated public launch across the river on Lighthouse Road which is run by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

*Milford is six miles inland on a relaxing country road with every store you could need to outfit your vacation. There you can find local cafe/ice cream shops, liquor stores, antique shops, art galleries, specialty shops, drug stores, department stores, and many restaurants Walmart Super Center is open 24 hours a day .. Milford is a year-round community.

*Easy biking distance (2.8 miles) is the DuPont Nature Center, an ecotourism destination, with tours and hands-on activities for children and adults.

*There are numerous public access parking areas all along the two miles of the main road, Bay Avenue, (ANY of the named roads has public beaches). The beach next to the Fire Dept. has restrooms and a new shaded picnic gazebo. There is a children's playground along with tennis and basketball courts next just across from the main beach. Next door is the Fire House which occasionally has events.

*Biking and rollerblading is a favorite activity on Bay Avenue since there are no cross streets, so it is relatively safe. Please feel free to bring your own bikes. Keep in mind, Delaware requires children to wear helmets.

*Slaughter Beach is a world-famous birding habitat and horseshoe crab sanctuary. You can marvel at the hundreds of bird species including the endangered Red Knot as they stop to feed on horseshoe crab eggs on their way north. Most people thrill at the spectacle while others are a little horrified by the crab's primitive looks. They are completely harmless but can cause the water's edge to be littered with their shells.
*Watch for the just-hatched baby turtles headed to the Marvel Preserve just behind us in early summer. Slaughter Beach is surrounded by wildlife preserves on all three non-water sides. Eagles and Ospreys can be seen nesting at the south end.

This Slaughter Beach Cozy Cottage is looking forward to sharing the beautiful beach with new visitors. The property is located directly across from public beach access so your feet will never get tired of walking to the beach. The cottage features Wi-Fi access and cable TV. However, lounging or reading a book on the screened in patio is sometimes just as relaxing. The cottage is located on two lots with a beautiful view of the Nature Preserve so you will have plenty of space for outdoor fun, bunny or bird watching in addition to your own privacy. There is a spacious outdoor patio area for sunset dinners. Recent renovations include all new floors and ceiling fans in addition to a tankless hot water heater, air conditioning, a brand new washer and dryer and an outdoor shower for added convenience. The tankless hot water system allows for endless amounts of hot water for all of the guests!

The cottage is fully furnished and recently renovated. You will find everything you need if you plan on cooking during your stay. There is a gas stove and oven, dishwasher and coffee maker. There is even a grill outside for your convenience.

We offer guests the option to use our linens at no additional fee however, outdoor beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers will need to be supplied by the guests.

During your stay you should expect to see horseshoe crabs, numerous birds and wildlife. The bay at Slaughter Beach offers guests a more relaxing time playing in the water. The waves are small and the tide is remarkable. You will find when the tide is high you can sail boats, swim laps, fish right from the beach and kayak for hours. However when the tide is low you will find an open ocean bottom waiting to be discovered. Take a walk in the bay and discover what lies beneath.

Slaughter Beach is located North of Rehobeth Beach and Lewes, Delaware. The Tanger Outlets are close by and offer approx. 130 brand name outlets along the 3 mile stretch of Route 1. Near the Tanger Outlets you will find Midway Speedway Park, an exciting family attraction. It has 5 go-kart tracks for all skill levels in addition to 18 holes of miniature golf.

Our hope is that you will make wonderful, lasting family memories as we have done over the years. The water’s edge is only 70 feet from our cottage and the gentle waves are perfect for children and grandparents alike.

From our living room savor the 180 degree view of the vast Delaware Bay. The summer house is fully furnished; complete with two bedrooms including queen size beds, one queen size pullout sofa, two full bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and outside shower. If you want more adventure bring along your kayak. During high tide enjoy swimming and fishing from the shore. During low tide wander the flats, exploring all the bay has to offer up close.

The recently renovated Cedar Creek Marina is only 5 minutes away. Here you will find beautiful boat ramps, easy on/off boat launch spaces and parking to accommodate large trucks and trailers. Spend the day or week boating on the bay, sunbathing, fishing or both. There is a small, one time fee for boating on the bay and may be purchased at Cedar Creek Marina.

Within the Slaughter Beach community, just a 10 minute walk away, a newly installed playground for children, pickle ball court and a small boardwalk that overlooks the marsh and its abundant bird life.

The Summer House is close to many Delaware activities and popular hot spots. Only 35 minutes south on Rt 1 you can enjoy the historic Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk with its popular shopping and hip dining. Or visit the historic town of Lewes with it’s small, old town atmosphere, unique shopping and restaurants. Lewes is home to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. Explore the southern tip of the Cape May, NJ peninsula with its boutique shopping and signature restaurants for wonderful day trip. Only 35 minutes north on Rt 1 you can enjoy the Dover Air Force Base & Museum, Dover Downs Casino or Dover International Speedway. Then return to Slaughter Beach to slow down and relax.

- "We rented the bottom unit of this house. It was very clean and nicely decorated (beach theme). You couldn't ask for a better location. Walk right outside the back door onto the beach. Yes the water was a little murky but at low tide you can walk real far out and see crabs, whelk and other ocean life. Most days when there was a breeze the black flies didn't bother us. I would suggest bringing big spray for the days you do need it. I would definitely recommend this place - very quiet and secluded. And the best part- you can bring your dog. Our dog was extremely happy to play in the ocean and take walks on the beach. All the locals were super nice too."

Welcome to the Slaughter Beach Lodge. We are pet friendly, kid friendly, sanctuary away from it all. This house offers a multitude of amenities. Downstairs is the original fishing cottage that has been transformed into the game room and hangout space. You will find darts, shuffle board, foosball, poker table and air hockey as well as a chest full of board games. The downstairs kitchenette has a retro dining booth, a working sink, microwave and mini fridge. (rest assured the main kitchen upstairs has everything you need). Also downstairs just off the kitchen is 1 of the 3 bedrooms. This bedroom has a queen bed and a full bed. Just off the game room you'll find a bathroom with a shower plus a full size washer and dryer. The downstairs is the perfect drop zone for all your beach essentials as well as a perfect drop zone for the kids after a long hot day at the beach. Head upstairs by way of the winding spiral staircase or head outside and take the much wider deck stairs to the second story. Upon entering the second story you may think you've entered a different house in the beach lodge's newest addition. You will find a full kitchen, two bedrooms (1 king bed and 1 queen bed), a full bathroom, an expansive living room, and a great dining area with breakfast bar. The views upstairs range from the gorgeous marsh sunsets to glimpses of the bay so you can tell if it's high or low tide. In the living room is a large comfy couch and 2 futons that pull out to full beds. The vaulted ceilings and the endless windows truly make for a beautiful space upstairs.
The beach lodge is conveniently located just two houses down from the Beach Access road. (less than a 5 min walk to the sand)
2020 is our first season hosting our home as a rental property. We are not a large property management company, this a family working hard to bring the Slaughter Beach that we love to you(except for the weeks that we are there!)

About Slaughter Beach:
Slaughter Beach is located on the Delaware Bay. The Beach has small waves and tiny pebbles along the tide lines. The water is great for young children since the waves are small however big kids enjoy it too! Just don't forget your water shoes. We love to search for heart shaped rocks along the sand. During low tide you can walk out into the bay and see what lies beneath.
Slaughter Beach is located in a nature preserve. It is home to ospreys and eagles and many other beautiful shore birds as well as migratory birds. You can walk along the new marvel salt marsh boardwalk and use the stationary binoculars to take a look at the nest and the birds that are nesting. Slaughter beach is most famously known as a home to horseshoe crabs. Every year in spring the horseshoe crabs spawn at the shoreline. You're sure to see tons during springtime, however during the summer you will see them sparingly along the shoreline waiting for you to flip them over so they can scurry back into the water. A few miles down the road is DuPont Nature Center, kids (and adults) love this hands-on showcase of all the local wildlife. If you enjoy bicycling, just down the street across from the saltwater boardwalk you'll find a DIY bike repair station. The majority of the beach town is one single street of homes. This keeps the beach quiet with plenty of room for you spread out your towel. Slaughter Beach draws attention due to it's interesting town name. But upon arrival you are sure to find your newest favorite hidden gem.

- "The Beach Lodge exceeded our expectations. It was super clean and well- organized. The game room was lots of fun, not only having shuffle board and air hockey, but also lots of board games and building toys for children of all ages. The main floor was open with a large table that accommodated our group of nine. The kitchen was equipped with everything you might need to prepare a good dinner. We liked the Dupont Nature Center about 2 miles away and the sunsets over the salt marsh. The horseshoe crabs on the beach were interesting. Our three-year-old granddaughter enjoyed riding her bike on the quiet road in front of the building. A nice place for a family getaway."

We are Premier Hosts with other Vrbo properties here. Relax and enjoy the 14 miles or so open water of the Delaware Bay out your windows. Waterfront deck with picnic table with lots of seating. Watch the ships at night anchored out in the Bay with their lights on. Enjoy the balmy breezes.

So you know, we do not furnish sheets and towels but have them available as rentals. Also, we have a pet fee of $100 per pet and we have an enclosed area with 3 foot high fencing for them to do their business. We have dogs as members of our family. If you plan to bring a boat we would appreciate it if it is
on the smaller size as we just had another layer of gravel put on our driveway and heavy vehicles don't do well..

This unique and quirky beachfront cottage is about 1000 square feet, features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and is ONLY STEPS TO THE BEACH. The kitchen is open to the living room and a small dining/breakfast nook. Slaughter Beach has a Fire Department, public tennis/pickleball courts, children play area and public basketball courts. Just a minute to Cedar Creek Marina and the DuPont Nature Center and about 7 miles to the new BayHealth Medical Center. Please note we have installed exterior camera for security purposes, and to monitor that our rental policies are upheld.

The kitchen is fully equipped, if you want to cook larger meals or special meals get your own utensils but what they have is generally enough.The cottage even had biscuits for dogs as well as four dog bowls. It’s quite cozy and relaxing. They also had a few games for the evening. The terrace on the top was closed but they had another one next to the garage. We could imagine to come back next year."

Below deck is a wrap around brick patio with an informal outdoor shower to wash yourself off if engaged in any outdoor activities. Around the corner is a “Green Egg” charcoal grill for the grill aficionado, so get ready to put your grill on.

For the sunset lovers, there’s a dedicated deck on the west side of the property available for the occasion.

We are Original owners of this newly constructed house and recently updated home. We have designed and stocked with amenities to enhance your ability to unwind, have fun, create memories and catch up with family and friends.

The house is 3,500 square feet. Four stories high with a private elevator and an additional 600 sq feet of top deck area. Our house has over 50 windows and 9 sliding doors (opening onto multiple decks) all which were purposely designed bring in natural light & surroundings while offering gorgeous views from every room in the house. You can see the boats on the bay, birds, sea life, water views, routine waterway activities. There is a local resident, Blue Heron flies the area and patiently fishes!

Each day you see and experience something new!

Each room has been custom designed to offer special amenities. We have spacious XL rooms with comfortable furnishings to relax, unwind or enjoy the views, walk-in closets, barn doors, glass sliding doors onto the decks, USB charging stations for your electronic devices, watch television (1 tv in each bedroom and 2 recreational rooms) Comcast Cable/Strong, Private, Wi-fi on Smart televisions, In addition we have Alexa, dimmable LED lighting, custom designed bathrooms, ceiling fans throughout, electric fireplace, hot tub and 6 person, cushioned, glider chairs around fire pit. Whole house A/C and Heat with a thermostat located on the 2nd and 3rd floor. In addition, we have a whole house generator with an automatic transfer switch. If a passing storm takes out the power, no problem the automatic switch will kick in the generator and the a/c, lights and tv remain on.

Further, the house has 22 outdoor, dimmable, wall deck lights controlled by floor. You enter through the garage to enter the front door of the house. There you will find an ascending staircase and a user friendly elevator. From there the house awaits.

Front door locks are key code, dead bolt locks and we customize the code to your stay so you can check-in and out without person to person contact. Our house is cleaned routinely and will receive a deep clean specifically for you, prior to your scheduled arrival.

A welcome book with information is provided to you on the 3rd floor living area. If you have any questions or concern our house manager, Emily is available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have.

The house is designed with beach life in mind among sophisticated and comfort features while offering some whimsical decor. Our kitchen is fully stocked for anything you may need, if we are missing something, please let us know.

One of our favorite things to do is Walk and sit on the Beach and our quite dead end road as well as areas along the waterways. There is so much to see and visit in our Slaughter Beach town. The area is quiet and yet close to everything within a quick drive while kept away from the crowds, parking issues and and all that comes along with it. You can take enjoy taking a bike ride through the shore town and farm roads. Our 2 car garage has the outdoor shower, our work bench area, beach chairs, corn hole, ladder toss, bean bag and badminton games, etc. await. There are also 5, bicycles for you to ride and tour our secluded area filled with beach, surf side pavilion, tennis court, new playground, basketball court, nature preserve, firehouse and public restrooms where you can stop and take in the view. Our enclosed garage also has a Table for card play, full size air hockey table for 4 & a variety of beach chairs & umbrellas for your use. There is a Blackstone grill with a cabinet filled with grilling accessories for your use.

You can hop over to Milford for some delicious restaurants/cafes/shopping/gallery/antiquing/theaters/Ice Cream, etc..Summer Saturdays in Milford hosts Riverwalk Farmers Market where you can find a variety of fresh vegetables, bake goods and vendor specialties.

Drive to the outlets or fair grounds in Lewes. Tour Historic Milton (1 of many neighboring towns) eateries, Dogfish Brewery, Warrington Manor Lavender Fields/Gift Shop, Gallery, etc.

Go on a date to a Fancy Restaurant in Rehoboth or hit the boardwalk/surf. Then come back to the house for a night cap around the fire. Make our home your getaway.

We like to begin an evening with a cocktail on the deck watching the sunset in our reclining, cushioned, deck chairs while we make dinner plans.

For boating/Fishing enthusiasts or to experience something new, there is a public boat launch 1 mile away and there are a variety of local vessels to charter for sightseeing, dolphin watching, head boats, deep sea adventures and evening cruises. Permitted, beach surf fishing is allowed. All within a quick jaunt from the house.

- "We rented this house for two families that were playing lacrosse at the DE Turf. Great location 15-17 min from the field. The house is gorgeous, new and well stocked. The kitchen/living room is on the third floor. Open layout, great view of the sunset. The kitchen had everything you could think of for preparing meals. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and plush bedding. The bedrooms and bathrooms are XL. The upper deck is another great spot. Unfortunately, We were only there for 3 nights and gone a good bit. Emily the owner was easy to communicate with and hassle free check in and check out. The only negative is the beach is 1-2 miles away. Bikes were provided but we were there in the 95 degree heat of July and it was buggy. I’m sure other months are better. We did drive down to Rehoboth which was a nice. Traffic is usually busy during the summer when driving to Rehoboth. The house is as advertised. Great times."

Located in Slaughter Beach across the street from the beach. This delightful house has been recently redecorated and features 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The first floor has one bedroom, bath, living room, and eat-in kitchen with a full size washer and dryer in a closet. The bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers for your convenience. The beach access is just down the street at the fire house. There is a pavilion, public bathroom, large parking lot, tennis /pickle ball court and playground there. We have parking on a driveway and under the house.

About this space
Charming bayside/beach home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in quiet Slaughter Beach, DE. This is the vacation spot for you if you are looking peace and quiet in a kinder, gentler rustic community. Bikes and Nature have the right of way in this sleepy town.
The space
379 Bay is a unique, 2 story home raised high and built on pillars allowing for privacy throughout as well as incredible views of the Delaware Bay. 3 bedrooms and 2 Full Baths. Main level features dining room, kitchen, living room with great views of the bay and a "secret" 3rd bedroom alongside the stairs with a sofa bed/futon that sleeps one comfortably, two when open to full bed. Loveseat in the living room and a full bath with shower also on main level with washer and dryer.

Second floor features two bedrooms and one newly renovated full bath with huge tiled shower. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed with unobstructed views of the bay and Bedroom 2 has a queen bed with balcony.

Bed Linens, towels and basic supplies such as soap are all included. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, silverware, spices etc. but naturally you will need to bring your food for meals. Also included are a washer and dryer, microwave, electric stove, drip coffee maker, central heating and air conditioning, dishwasher and refrigerator and outdoor gas grill. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off sand and salt. Flat screen/smartTV with basic cable service, Blue Ray player, radio, CD player and secure internet. Kids games and sand toys.

Our home is a BAY/beach front home allowing for loads of activities. It is directly located on the Delaware Bay with Private access to the bay and sandy beach. The small lapping waves are easy for young ones to negotiate and wade while enjoying the water.

The Cedar Creek Marina, with access to the Mispillion River leading to the Delaware Bay, is just minutes away and can be contacted for fishing trips. There is also a FREE public boat launch across the river on Lighthouse Road which is run by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Within easy biking distance (2.8 miles) is the DuPont Nature Center, an eco tourism destination, with tours and hands-on activities for children and adults. Only a six minute drive on Lighthouse Road or 15 minute bike ride.

There are numerous public access parking areas all along the two miles of the main road, Bay Avenue, (ANY named road has public beaches). The beach next to the Fire Dept. has restrooms and a new shaded picnic gazebo. There is a children's playground along with tennis and basketball courts next just across from the main beach. Next door is the Fire House which occasionally has events.

Biking and roller blading is a favorite activity on Bay Avenue since there are no cross streets, so it is relatively safe. Please feel free to bring your own bikes. Keep in mind, Delaware requires children to wear helmets.

Take a long walk on the uncrowded strand or jog the main Bay Avenue. Fishing, sea glass and shell collecting and a yearly regatta for small boats is held every July 4th.

Slaughter Beach is a world famous birding habitat. You can marvel at the hundreds of bird species including the endangered Red Knot as they stop to feed on Horse Shoe crab eggs on their way north. Most people thrill at the spectacle while others are a little horrified by the crab's primitive looks. They are completely harmless but can cause the water's edge to be a littered with their shells.

Watch for the just hatched baby turtles headed to the Marvel Preserve just behind us in early summer. Slaughter Beach is surrounded by preserves to all three non water sides and Eagles can be seen nesting at the south end.

The charming town of Milford is six miles inland on a relaxing country road with every store you could need to outfit your vacation. There you can find a local cafe/ice cream shops, liquor stores, antique shops, art galleries, specialty shops, drug stores, department stores, and many restaurants. Milford is a year round community much like Rehoboth Beach. Milford is also home to the newly opened Bay Health Hospital and Medical Center.

The quaint town of Lewes, Delaware is a short drive of 15 minutes in the off season. Also don't miss hip Rehoboth Beach (25 miles) which is about a half hour drive in the off season and longer on crowded summer weekends. Movies at Midway are only 15 minutes on Route 1.

Please note: Slaughter Beach is perfect for nature lovers and anyone that is looking for beauty and a place to give yourself peace of mind. This is a rustic area which can be remote and deserted feeling for some folks.

Our guests will have private and exclusive use of our home, and direct access to the beach during their vacation stay. Guests have use of beach chairs and beach toys.

Note to guests: At owner's discretion, the independent and separate carriage house may occasionally be accessed by owner. If that were to be the case, guest will be notified in advance. It will not impact our guest's EXCLUSIVE use of the main house.

Minimum Age For Renters: Must be 25 to secure rental.

The Sandcastle is both heated and air-conditioned.

Its important to note- Our home utilizes a septic system which can be sensitive to excessive use. If you should hear the alarm there is a switch on the pole just below the front door to turn the alarm off. Please contact Bill or Elisabeth if this were to occur. Don't be alarmed, this is an indicator that we may need the system checked.

Kitchen:
Butcher block table with refrigerator, toaster, air fryer, coffee maker, microwave and an electric stove.

The kitchen sink does NOT have a garbage disposal so all food materials need to be put in the trash can directly below the sink. A recycling and trash can is available.

Living Room:
Relax on the sofa and chairs looking out on the bay. There is a cabinet with games and toys. The baskets in the credenza contain emergency candles and some assorted items including binoculars.

The TV is a smart TV with basic cable service. Please feel free to utilize streaming services with your own login.

Dining Room:
Our dining room table easily seats 8 people. If you would like it to be made smaller for 4 or 6 people, please let us know in advance.

Outdoors: Shed attached to garage and to the left when looking out front door has water floats, sand toys and beach chairs inside.
