- "The staff was very helpful and flexible with our travel plans." - "The outside looked a little run down, and in need of some repairs. However, after seeing the rest of Juneau, I think the wicked weather there takes it toll on the outside of buildings. The inside was lovely. The lobby nicely furnished, the elevator very quick, and the room very spaceous. It had 2 QN beds, a desk and nice work chair and another chair and ottoman to watch TV. Plus two walk in closets, but only 3 draws. The kitchen area had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, nice cups with coffee, tea, etc. It also had a large counter area and some kitchen storage space. We stayed 12 days, and didnt feel cramped. We had a view of the water, and could look across to Douglas Island. Although the hotel claimed to be "downtown" and was next to the State Museum, it was about a 3-4 block walk to the central part of town, but a very easy walk. The restaurant in the hotel was one of the better restaurants in Juneau, and resonable priced. Just be careful when you book the room, since there is a lower level ("Garden View"), that is apparently below ground level, that may not have been as nice. The only drawback was some commercial buildings behind the hotel, and some schetchy characters in some of the commercial builiding parking lots that we could see from our room, but were not at all on the hotel property. I would definately recommend this hotel. We talked to other tourist who stayed at other hotels, and it seemed like the Prospector was one of the best choces."

- "I love the fact that there is laundry onsite" - "Stayed during Snowmageddon, so hard to rate the property in terms of walkability, etc, but in better weather it is definitely walkable to grocery store or restaurants. But those are probably 1/2 mile to a mile away? Huge rooms, very full kitchens, etc. So comfortable. Only thing I noticed was regular horizontal blinds in the room which is find for 17 hours of darkness each day, but in the summer, you may prefer blackout curtains if you want to get more sleep."

- "This is my second time starting at the "Alaskan Hotel and Bar," and my second review. I don't to be redundant, so I'll just mention a few things that I forgot to address in my first review. This remains the coolest hotel I've ever stayed at; and like Johnny Cash, I've been everywhere. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. It's old. My room is heated with a cast iron radiator, from the early 1900s. There is also a glass cabinet secretary chest (I think it's called that, lol; along with an antique wood wardrobe chest. It also has a couple of mirrors and headboard that look equally old, and a bit beat up, but absolutely usable. The baseboards are a bit scuffed. Basically, the room looks and FEELS old as heck. And. That. Is. AWESOME! You can go to any modern, chain-hotel, and with a few exceptions, know exactly what your room is going to look like, BECAUSE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME, lol. But, THIS hotel, looks and FEELS like something straight or of the wild West. Yet it's still clean, the beds are comfortable, and there are no bugs. Give them a try. It will be the icing on the cake of your own Alaskan adventure. Travelers NEVER consider their hotel as part of their vacation/exploration. But, I promise you, when you go home, you'll tell people about the cool, wild West hotel you stayed at."

- "ALL WAS FINE, ONLY ONE ITEM REDUCE PRICE FOR ALASKANS " - "It's Alaska, so it's different. We live in Fairbanks and were meeting family that flew in from the lower 48 and were boarding a cruise. It was a turn-and-burn, one-night stay. We have sourced furnishings from as far as Turkey, and as close as our parent's house! The house is a new(ish) build, finished in 2015. Rent it out with the adjacent side (Sourdough Suite VRBO #699575) and you can accommodate twelve.
We do reserve the house for stays of 5 nights or longer when booking further out than 30 days and 7 nights or longer when booking 60 days or more in advance. Exceptions are made so feel free to ask. Likely reasons we would give an exception: If the stay fit well with an existing adjacent stay on the calendar (no long gaps in between); If the dates are in the shoulder seasons (not June - August); If you were wanting both sides for a longish stay...
Each side has the living area on the second floor along with a master bedroom. The upstairs bathroom has (2) doors, one directly to the master and one to the living space. The first floor has the second two bedrooms, another full bathroom and a laundry room, plus a large entry for dumping all your gear. One parking space at the top of the driveway is provided and there are 3-4 steps up to the first floor from the car door.

Within 300 feet of the Governor's Mansion, this comfortable, well maintained, 1 bedroom apartment is private and has all the amenities, including off-street parking. But, a car is not necessary since most everything in downtown Juneau is within 5 to 10 minute walking distances. Within a few minutes and in different directions you can walk to the Governor's Mansion, Capitol and State Office Building, two museums (Juneau and Alaska State), a major supermarket, popular restaurants, Cope Park with access to Basin Road and the Mt. Juneau, Mt. Roberts, and Perseverance hiking trails.

Spacious Sunrise studio is located above our garage, providing an elevated view of surroundings from an abundance of windows that let in both the beauty and the light. The mountain and water views allow guests to enjoy the gorgeous wilds of Alaska from their own cozy haven decorated in warm hues of a sunrise. The queen-sized bed is a comfortable sleeping space for a couple, while the double sofa-sleeper provides additional sleeping space for children.

The rental is located right on historic Treadwell townsite, where guests can enjoy lazy walks through the forested trails that were once the streets of a booming gold mining town. Peppered with historic buildings, informative signs, and relics from times long past, the trails wind past babbling brooks out to Juneau’s best beach where views of Gastineau channel are made all the more beautiful by a backdrop of precipitous waterfalls cascading down to the shore. Sandy Beach Playground is a short jaunt further down the beach or trails. And for those wanting to gain some elevation on a longer hiking adventure, Mount Jumbo trailhead is just a five-minute walk around the corner.

When hungry, guests will enjoy the ease of preparing food in the fully equipped kitchen or on the bbq, or may instead choose to take a short scenic walk to the Douglas café or Island Pub, where they make amazing pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. Other dining options, shopping and adventure also await in downtown Juneau, which is just a 10 minute drive in a private vehicle. You can also enjoy the convenience of public transportation to reach Juneau, with buses running every 30 minutes from the stop located just a block away.

We have strong unlimited internet, so you should have no problems connecting for telework or to share your adventures with friends and family. Other amenities that will make a stay more comfortable include a flat screen tv equipped with Roku for movies and entertainment, a washer and dryer, and private off-street parking. Because the unit is on the second floor, it must be accessed by stairs, and so it not a good fit for anyone with mobility issues.

Note: Our family of four lives in the log home adjacent to the rental. Although we are very respectful of our visitors with regard to noise, a bit of mild family sounds should be expected here and there during normal waking hours (7a-10p), such as our kids and friends and/or our bernedoodle pup romping around the property. There is one off-street parking space available directly in front of the garage. There is also ample parking available across the road on Douglas Highway. There is a bus stop located nearby (about a tenth of a mile away).

Please note, Douglas Highway is a busy road and there is road noise during the day and into the evening. If road noise bothers you, this is not the rental for you.

- "This holiday home is enormous. The view is fantastic and everything you'll need is there. The bus stop is nearby our you can walk downtown. The communication with the owner is easy and fast respond is normal. We can highly recommend humble halibut......" - "Everything was great - great location, newly remodeled, fully furnished kitchen, etc..., but the awesome view is the main selling point. We spent hours and hours just taking it in - the seaplanes landing, the clouds rolling by, the eagles flying by, the crows harassing the eagles, etc... The layout with the big, wide windows really accentuates the view as well. You could sit on the balcony, but also lay in bed or lean back in the recliners in the living room. It was a good location besides the view. A convenience store was just a few minutes walk away. The nearest coffee shop or restaurant was about a 20 minute walk away over the bridge (with a pedestrian walkway), and the main tourist drag downtown was about 30-35 minutes away. It was a very nice, scenic walk. One of the advantages of the Juneau area (opposed to Anchorage area) is that pretty much everything is within a tighter radius of about a 20 or 30 minute drive - the glacier, tons of little beaches, tons of restaurants, all the excursions like whale watching, kayaking, etc... The airport in Juneau is tiny and very easy to get in and out of. We had an awesome trip and will be back."
