- "The staff was very helpful and flexible with our travel plans." - "The outside looked a little run down, and in need of some repairs. However, after seeing the rest of Juneau, I think the wicked weather there takes it toll on the outside of buildings. The inside was lovely. The lobby nicely furnished, the elevator very quick, and the room very spaceous. It had 2 QN beds, a desk and nice work chair and another chair and ottoman to watch TV. Plus two walk in closets, but only 3 draws. The kitchen area had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, nice cups with coffee, tea, etc. It also had a large counter area and some kitchen storage space. We stayed 12 days, and didnt feel cramped. We had a view of the water, and could look across to Douglas Island. Although the hotel claimed to be "downtown" and was next to the State Museum, it was about a 3-4 block walk to the central part of town, but a very easy walk. The restaurant in the hotel was one of the better restaurants in Juneau, and resonable priced. Just be careful when you book the room, since there is a lower level ("Garden View"), that is apparently below ground level, that may not have been as nice. The only drawback was some commercial buildings behind the hotel, and some schetchy characters in some of the commercial builiding parking lots that we could see from our room, but were not at all on the hotel property. I would definately recommend this hotel. We talked to other tourist who stayed at other hotels, and it seemed like the Prospector was one of the best choces."

- "I love the fact that there is laundry onsite" - "Stayed during Snowmageddon, so hard to rate the property in terms of walkability, etc, but in better weather it is definitely walkable to grocery store or restaurants. But those are probably 1/2 mile to a mile away? Huge rooms, very full kitchens, etc. So comfortable. Only thing I noticed was regular horizontal blinds in the room which is find for 17 hours of darkness each day, but in the summer, you may prefer blackout curtains if you want to get more sleep."

- "This is my second time starting at the "Alaskan Hotel and Bar," and my second review. I don't to be redundant, so I'll just mention a few things that I forgot to address in my first review. This remains the coolest hotel I've ever stayed at; and like Johnny Cash, I've been everywhere. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. It's old. My room is heated with a cast iron radiator, from the early 1900s. There is also a glass cabinet secretary chest (I think it's called that, lol; along with an antique wood wardrobe chest. It also has a couple of mirrors and headboard that look equally old, and a bit beat up, but absolutely usable. The baseboards are a bit scuffed. Basically, the room looks and FEELS old as heck. And. That. Is. AWESOME! You can go to any modern, chain-hotel, and with a few exceptions, know exactly what your room is going to look like, BECAUSE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME, lol. But, THIS hotel, looks and FEELS like something straight or of the wild West. Yet it's still clean, the beds are comfortable, and there are no bugs. Give them a try. It will be the icing on the cake of your own Alaskan adventure. Travelers NEVER consider their hotel as part of their vacation/exploration. But, I promise you, when you go home, you'll tell people about the cool, wild West hotel you stayed at."
