Our newly remodeled home nestled among hickory and great oaks has the original knotty pine and new bamboo floor, heated tile floors and has 2 cozy bedrooms, including a queen bed and two twins. You'll have a restful night's sleep listening to the bullfrogs at night. The bathroom features a jetted bathtub and shower. Stay connected with WiFi and enjoy the cool breeze with AC. We have plenty of games and firestick tv but you probably would rather enjoy the sand volleyball lakeside or have a bonfire at our fire pit. You can roast hot dogs but if you prefer there is a new natural gas Weber grill that we will share. Our kids are grown and we live over the attached garage so you won’t hear or hardly see us since we both work full time. We hope you enjoy what our cottage and Lake George has to offer.

Pokagon State Park just 2 miles away, has the state’s only toboggan slide as well as hiking and biking trails and guided horseback rides. The Fremont Outlet Mall is 1 mile away. The pictures show the lake cottage charm well, but we had no idea how many updated, modern features the cottage would have. From power outlets with USB chargers to incredible kitchen appliances, you will find both traditional lake charm and contemporary features. The owners were amazing and incredibly kind and responsive. The only thing that was a little unexpected from the listing was that we didn't realize the cottage was directly connected to the owner's new home build-on. It was not a problem for us at all, and we really enjoyed visiting with them! We just did not realize it would be a connected property originally. It was a great little place for a mini-vaca! The location was a short drive, which made it ideal for a Trine visit and tobogganing At Pokagon State Park. Afterwards, we brought home pizza and enjoyed warming up in the hot tub. Tracey was awesome with her communication regarding what is there, i.e. extra cots, how many refrigerators etc.... and for just about any question you may ask. I cannot comment on renting the pontoon etc...since we were golfing but a great place for reunions, families etc.... see you next year." - "We rented this property for a family vacation and appreciated its proximity to the beach. The home had plenty of space for seven adults and two kids, and the extra building with the hot tub, pool table, and table tennis was great to be able to use! We also appreciated that we could use the golf cart to get to and from the beach. One of the best parts was renting Tracey's pontoon boat, which was really nice and a great deal compared to the other local boat rental prices. Tracey was responsive throughout our stay and stopped by to answer questions when we had them."

The cottage has a full kitchen, dining area, living room, two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with a full/twin bunkbed), and a full bath. The sofa in the living room is a queen sleeper sofa. The maximum number of guests is 5. This is a true tiny house, but when you are at the lake you are there to enjoy the outdoors, and we have plenty of outdoors available :-)

The kitchen is stocked with dinnerware, flatware, pots and pans, small appliances including coffeemaker (full pot and Keurig), toaster, mixer, etc. Bed linens, kitchen towels, bath and hand towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels).

There is a Roku/Smart TV with Blu-ray DVD player in the living room and a Roku/Smart TV in the lakeside bedroom with the queen bed. The cottage is stocked with a variety of children and family games.

If the nights are cool there is heat and if it gets too warm there is air conditioning. We upgraded to a high efficency mini-split heating/air conditioning system in 2024, eliminating the need for the window air conditioner.

The Hilltop Hideaway is located at the end of the lane so there is almost no traffic and the cottage is positioned at the top of a hill that overlooks the lake. The front deck is the full width of the cottage and has railings and latching gates to keep the little ones (kids or dogs) contained. The deck has a patio table and chairs, as well as a propane grill (propane provided). Make use of the fire pit to enjoy evening campfires, roasting hot dogs, and consuming s'mores.

The cottage faces to the east, and is overlooking the lake toward an undeveloped portion of the lake's shoreline, this adds the the natural beauty of the view of the lake.

You will have a private 30’ dock where you can tie up your boat(s). Please let us know if you plan on bringing a boat or jetski. Note - The dock is removed around the end of Sept/early October and will be reinstalled in late April/early May.

There is a very large sandy beach at the base of the hill, right in front of the cottage with a large swimming area that has a sandy bottom and a gradual slope. Our association has about 900 feet of shared shoreline.

The owner's cottage is located next door and has two kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, two paddle boats, a rowboat, and an Otter Island swim raft available for your enjoyment. The "water toys" are available normally from the end of April/early May through the end of Sept/early October. The swim raft is normally removed from the water in early Sept and put back in service around mid May.

Little Long Lake is a 154-acre spring-fed lake that spans the IN/MI state line, with the lake about evenly split with half of the lake in Indiana and half in Michigan. There are times designated for high speed fun such as waterskiing, tubing, or wakeboarding and also no-wake times to allow for peaceful fishing or lazy cruises around the lake. The Michigan half of the lake’s high speed times are 11am-7:30pm, while the entire lake allows high speed from 1pm-4pm. There is a concrete public boat ramp on the MI side. Those that enjoy fishing regularly catch largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and perch.

The WiFi in the area was recently upgraded to fiber. The Hilltop Hideaway now has 100 meg internet.

The Hilltop Hideaway is located in a quiet neighborhood, so we ask for no loud parties, and please observe quiet time after 10pm.

There are two security cameras on the property, exterior only. They are both for our protection and yours.

Please leave the cottage in the same condition that you found it.

We purchased this cottage in January of 2019 and spent the spring remodeling the cottage, including a new kitchen, remodeled the bedrooms, replaced all woodwork, all doors, some windows, and painted the entire interior.

We understand that you might want to have friends visit for an afternoon at the lake, but at no time should there be more than a total of 8 people (total of registered guests and day visitors).

We do welcome dogs as guests, there is a $50 pet fee (per stay, not per night or per dog, max of 2 dogs) and dogs must be on a leash when outside. We ask that dogs not be allowed to bark excessively as to not disturb the neighbors.

Please observe the 10mph speed limit when driving on the roads/lanes in the subdivision.

On Saturday, Deb told me her secret Amish store was open and did I want to go with her. I was like "YES" and off we went. I got the best strawberries, Carmel corn and the Sausage Cheese Bread that I'm still dreaming about. Logan was a delight. He was so polite, introduced himself and shook our hands. He was very helpful for things we needed and even took our trash out as we were leaving. We loved this place and we will definitely be back for a longer stay. We didn't get in the water, but it's a beautiful lake. The parade of boats at sunset was so much fun to watch. The only thing we didn't expect was that there were a lot of people around during the day. It wasn't an issue. We met some great people and met some really cute dogs."

This quiet lake front cottage built in 2021 located on Little Otter Lake in the Lake James Chain offers the best of both worlds. Little Otter Lake is great for fishing, kayaking and swimming. A fifteen minute boat ride through the Big Otter Lake channel connects you to skiing, tubing and more on Snow Lake, Lake James and Jimmerson Lake. A row boat is included in the rental, however you will need to provide your own speed boat or pontoon boat. Dock space is available upon request.

This single story, 800 square foot home, with 60 feet of lake frontage has all the amenities needed for a great vacation. The interior of the cottage is clean and inviting, with quartz counter-tops, stone fire place, hardwood heated floors and washer and dryer. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom with walk-in shower, plenty of closet space and no steps. There is a 320 square foot deck overlooking Little Otter Lake that provides a great view with a retractable awning. Inside, the many windows allow for an outside feel with the comfort of the indoors. There is a private driveway with beautiful landscaping. This is a wonderful way to get away even during the fall and winter months.

Our Little Otter Retreat is located 1 mile from Pokagon State Park which offers tobogganing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. A public access boat ramp is located 1 mile from the cottage. Two local wineries and one brewery are within 5 miles as well as a variety of local and chain restaurants.

The cottage has both shaded and sunny areas while the beach is firm and great for swimming. Little Otter lake is known for great fishing and Tri-State Bait and Tackle is only 0.2 miles away. Potawatomi Snowmobile trails with 35 miles of trails, are 7 miles away.

Single story cottage located directly on Jimmerson Lake with pier and small sandy beach area. Originally built in the 1950's by owner's grandparents, the home has been charmingly re-decorated and has a large deck with excellent sunset views. Jimmerson Lake is a 203 acre lake that is popular for fishing and is also open to skiers. The cottage is located on a large cove of the lake with less ski boat traffic making it easier to float or swim. Take your boat and access all the lakes on the Lake James chain including Jimmerson Lake, Lake James (1,039 acres), Snow Lake (421 acres), Big Otter Lake and Little Otter Lake.
The cottage is the perfect relaxing retreat for a family or avid fishermen who plan to spend most of their time outdoors and on the lake. Peace and quiet during the Fall and Spring is a fantastic time to visit and get away from the hustle and bustle! Take time to unwind! Spend your days on the lake: boating, swimming, and fishing then spend your evenings playing yard games in the adjacent shaded lot or relaxing with the sunset views from the deck. Water stays around knee high for 15 feet from seawall perfect for children and allows easy access for kayaks/canoe. If you prefer to fish, you can access through channels Big Otter Lake and Little Otter Lake which are non-ski lakes. Fishermen may find largemouth bass, brook trout, brown trout, bluegill, and flathead catfish as well as Northern Pike, Walleye, and Crappie throughout the chain of lakes.

You can gather around the lower back patio propane Fire Pit on cool evenings or light up the upper deck gas grill for barbecuing on sunny afternoons. All linens are provided except for beach towels.

The dock is available if you bring a boat. Boat rental is available at the Corner Landing nearby. You can conveniently navigate your rental boat directly from Corner Landing rental to our dock. Enjoy the seasonal boat rental services offered at Corner Landing (CornerLanding.net) and take advantage of the convenience of parking your boat at our private dock. The easement to the dock is about a 200 yard walk across a yard, with access to Snow Lake, part of the Chain of Lakes that includes Lake James, Jimmerson Lake, and Big Otter Lake. Please note there is not a swimmable shoreline near the private dock. However, there is a public access site at the end of our road where you can swim and also, and just three miles away, you can find Pokagon State Park, which offers a sandy beach area. Additionally, there are various enjoyable attractions such as movie theaters, winery tours, as well as boat launches, shopping centers, and restaurants in the area.

- "Second year staying here - great as always" - "Wow, what a great trip! We had ages 8 months to 73 years old and couldn’t have picked a better location for a family getaway! Carrie and Greg have thought of EVERYTHING! From a fully equipped kitchen to pickle ball court! You really only need to bring beach towels and sunscreen. We loved that the private boat dock was close, but we still had room for corn hole boards, running around, and outdoor bubbles for the littles. The location is great too. We were able to play golf, disc golf, visit a state park, and shop all within 10-15 minute drive. Carrie provided us with great information when we arrived about restaurants, swimming spots, sandbars, etc. Snow Lake is so calm and peaceful, but you could also travel on the chain of lakes for a different experience. Everyone left having a great experience!"

Arrangements for sleeping include a queen bed in the downstairs bedroom. Climbing up the spiral staircase, you'll find lots of space for the kiddos. Three twin beds will sleep them comfortably in the loft for the night. A TV and Xbox with a couple of bean bag chairs gives them some indoor space of their own if there's rain in the forecast or mom and dad just need a break. Additionally, there is a sleeper sofa that can sleep two more in the living room. There is ample space in the bathroom with a full tub and shower.

The kitchen is stocked and ready for you to prepare whatever your inspiration stirs up for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is a kamado grill (Akorn) for grilling up burgers or smoking some ribs all day long and a large patio table for serving all of it up! After dinner and an evening swim, use the firepit right on the seawall for roasting your marshmallows and settle down for the night.

The lake will provide plenty of fun for the day - fish right off the dock, swim, boat, ski and tube! But if you find that you're ready for a day off from the water, there's lots nearby to occupy your time. The area has several great antique stores, some very unique eateries and fun for the whole family - mini golf, hiking and horseback riding. You won't be at a loss for what to do!

When you visit, you’ll be able to imagine what it might have been like in days gone by. You will soon fall in love with this sweet spot on the lake, and you can appreciate what would have brought John Dillinger and the boys to the shores of Lake George. The comforts and pleasure of the present will mingle with the echoes of the past!

- "This was a great cottage for our family of 4. Our kids (9 and 6) loved swimming and fishing off the dock. We used the 2 kayaks and pool toys that were available. The fire pit was great for smores and hot dogs at night. The lake bottom was very sandy by the shore which made it pleasant to walk around in. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs. We loved the historic feel. This is how a lake cottage is supposed to be. I'd recommend this property and plan on returning."

The cottage worked perfectly for my 2 teens and myself for 5 days where we were able to unplug from the big city life and just relax for the week. Easy access to boat ramp, dock, private beach, great swimming and fishing access. Wifi was working great as there isn't much cell service, which I loved, as the kids were able to turn off their devices and enjoy the simple kid stuff in life, like, boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming and just having a great time by the fire. We really had a great time. We enjoyed the firepit twice. We set up corn hole in the front yard. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for several large meals. The living room was large enough for all of us to be together. We really appreciated all the towels! We washed them a couple times, but there were plenty for all of us. The little perks of shampoo, conditioner & body wash along with dish detergent and laundry detergent were so very nice. The Property
Unlike many lake properties in the area, our home sits on two lots - the beautifully renovated house on one side of the road and a pristine lakefront lot directly across. The lakeside lot features:

Our thoughtfully remodeled lakehouse comfortably sleeps 10 guests:

The modern kitchen features beautiful quartz countertops and new cabinetry, fully stocked with nearly everything you'll need for preparing meals. The dining area seats 6 (4 chairs provided), with additional seating for 3 at the kitchen peninsula.
The full bathroom showcases a modern shower with glass sliding doors, while a convenient half bath provides additional convenience for guests.

- "The entire property has been completely updated. The beds are comfortable for sleeping and the rooms have plenty of closet and storage space for clothes. The linens and towels there are also plenty available. The outdoor area which is directly on the lake is very nice and you can swim right off of the little beach and Dock area on the property. - "The cottage provided us everything we needed. It was easy to get in and out and the owner was very responsive to requests. I have not had a gas stove since I was a kid living at home and I found that cooking on it was like riding a bike. It gave me a bit of nostalgia as well.The location was great for us. Close to town, and to our own cottage that is currently gutted. Also easy drive into the Lake James/Jimmerson area - which of course you need to arrive to Tom's Donuts early if you don't want to wait. Would definitely recommend."

Smoking is not allowed inside the home. Please use designated outdoor areas and ensure you are at least 25 feet away from the house. Improper disposal of smoking materials may result in fines.

🐾 No Pets
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate pets at this time. While we love animals, the space is not pet-friendly.

🎉 No Parties or Events
Parties and events are not permitted. Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM and must be strictly observed. Any noise complaints will result in fines.

🤫 Respect the Neighbors
This is a peaceful, residential lake community. Please be respectful and keep noise levels down, especially in the evenings.

👫 Registered Guests Only
Only registered guests are allowed on the property at any time.
If the total number of guests exceeds your reservation, additional fees will apply per person, per night.
Unregistered guests or day visitors are not permitted and may result in fines or termination of your stay.

🚗 Parking
There are 3 parking spots allotted to The Lookout. Please park only in designated areas—no parking on the grass.
Due to space limitations, make arrangements in advance to fit all vehicles. There is no on-site or overflow parking available.

👶 Children & Water Safety
Children must be actively supervised at all times, especially near the water. The lakefront area is not childproof, and guest safety is our highest priority.

🎆 No Fireworks
Fireworks of any kind are strictly prohibited—including sparklers, firecrackers, or other pyrotechnics. Violations will result in fines.

👤 Primary Guest Requirement
The person who booked the reservation must be present and staying at the property.
Bookings cannot be made on behalf of others if the primary guest is not in attendance.

- "We were in town for a memorial service and decided to rent a house vs get multiple hotel rooms. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures. It's right across the street from the lake. The hosts were very accommodating and let us sit on their dock area and let our kids use their lilypad to have fun in the lake. The house had everthing we needed. The basement has 2 sets of bunkbeds which was perfect for our 4 kids. The basement became a beloved hangout for them as they loved the basketball nets, Foosball and giant tv. They had tons of space. The first floor bedroom was great for my parents age 80. There are 3 large bedrooms upstairs plus another tv sitting room with large couch and another bed. So many places to sleep. The entire house is decorated beautifully. We rented the golf cart and really enjoyed the fresh air while touring around the lake. At night, we used the firepit and enjoyed looking at the stars which we don't get to see much of being from the Chicago area. I highly recommend this house and we were sad to leave. Our hosts really made sure we enjoyed our stay. Thanks so much! We will always have fond memories of our stay. "
