Lake Diane is an all sports lake from 11am to 7:30pm. From 7:30pm to 11am it is a NO-WAKE lake allowing the fishermen and everyone else to enjoy peaceful kayak or canoe rides, swimming, or just take in the breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset and relax. Our lake is about 400 acres, spring fed and up to 90 ft. deep. We have an amazing and very popular sand bar for all to enjoy on the North side of the lake. Lake Diane Cafe & Store serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a full bar, and pizza oven. You can ride our pontoon there, your boat or drive your car there as it's only 5 mins away.

John is very considerate and was always available, and answered our texts and question in a timely way. We are so pleased with the property and will be back. This scenic outdoor space, just steps from our front door, offers ample room for yard games and activities. It features hammocks, a picnic table, and a large fire pit with seating. Full sun space, grab a drink and throw some cornhole with your family and friends. We provide marshmallow roasting sticks and the firewood; you bring stuff for s'mores! Lake views abound.

Private Lake Front Access

A short (one minute) stroll to the water's edge. We provide a full lake front lot with dock for our guests. The lot is one street North of Campfire Corner. Rent our golf cart or bring your own for even easier lake access. We provide two kayaks, one paddle board, paddles, a few life jackets & a large floating mat. Nettle Lake is an all-sports lake. Bring your boat or rent one here. Prefer a jet-ski? Local rental is available for those too. Don't forget your fishing poles; Nettle Lake is known for the best fishing in the area. No wake on the lake from 6 pm to 10 am is the fisher's dream! We even have an expert fisherman on staff who would love to give you his best kept secrets.

Patio & Deck

Our new patio and deck area are sure to be a delight as you take a soak in the hot tub, utilize the space for entertaining, or wrap up that euchre tournament with a win under the stars. The space is quiet and private and also includes a beautiful dining area on the deck and a comfortable seating area on the patio.

THE BASICS:

Powerful central air and heating are sure to keep this property cool during the hottest summer days and warm and toasty during those chilly winter nights.

Iron-rich well water has been remedied with a water softener. The water is safe for cooking and drinking; however does carry a mild odor especially with hot water. We recommend bringing drinking water.

We provide toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, & body wash but you will need to bring the toothbrush and toothpaste! We also provide cooking oil/spray/salt/pepper and other common spices. For a full list, read the guidebook after booking.

WIFI: At Nettle Lake, WIFI can be intermittently unreliable. We do our best by providing the most reliable local offerings, but upon occasional buffering, just remember- you're in paradise with your loved ones! All TVs are equipped with FireSticks and DIRECT TV.

Outside a table with 4 chairs, a 2-seat lounger, egg chair, 2-gravity chairs, fire pit with chairs, and grill. We have a dock to bring a boat or rent one. No diving because water is only 3ft in front of house. We have a pontoon for rent-$125.00 a day or $600.00 for 7 days gas included. If you’re looking for a party house, this house isn’t for you.

With 3 bedrooms and a foldaway sofa with a queen sized mattress on a private porch, we can comfortably keep 10 guests with room to spare for couch or floor sleepers.
There is a very well equipped kitchen that can accommodate several cooks for those big meals and large dining areas both inside and out. Speaking of dining al fresco, imagine sitting beside and under huge, old majestic trees, while watching the sun set on the sizable porch that overlooks the water. You will also enjoy the symphony of crickets, frogs, and other wildlife every evening during much of the year. In the winter, enjoy the extreme hush of near silence when the ground is blanketed in fresh snow.
If you enjoy fishing, get out on the lake and pull in a huge bass or muskie, or fish right from the dock. You never know what you'll catch in the bay. Sorry, the bay is not an ideal place for swimming, but just outside of the mouth of the bay is the most popular swimming spot on the lake. Throw an anchor and make some new friends. We provide plenty of beach towels.
Two full baths allow for families to take care of all of their needs. We provide plenty of fresh bath towels for a large group as well. Also, some quality hygiene products are provided.
DID SOMEONE SAY SAUNA???? Yes we did. Large enough to fit 3 or 4. After a long and active day, it's an oasis.
If you work from home, our Wifi can handle almost anything you would need and there are two desks (One in the kitchen, one in the King bedroom) available to set up for work.
There are two wifi televisions to use, one in the main area, and the other in the bunk room which also has a play table with small stools tucked underneath and some kids books and toys. Two high chairs and a pack and play are tucked into accessible corners to save you from having to bring some of those bulky essentials.
There are multiple places to hang out and plenty of games for the whole family.
On the lake, there is a carryout that sells essentials and a full service restaurant with delicious food and live music that is accessible by land or water.
Hillsdale has a weekly street market that is a must do. From local produce including exotic mushrooms to art and gifts, you will not leave empty handed. Pokagon State Park and the outlet center are under 30 minutes away and there are several grocery stores and big box stores within that distance as well.
Golf courses and wineries are also an easy drive. Horseback tours are even hosted by a friend of ours who will be sure you have nothing short of a great experience.
All of that and more is available for you to enjoy. Even taking walks around the lake is just a fantastic experience and at the right time of day, you are likely to come across deer on your walks, but they may even be on the lawn. You may never want to leave the house!

- "The house is very spacious and cozy. The beds are all really comfortable. Big yard for the kids to run around and play. We stayed in the winter so the lake was frozen. Really cool. " - "My husband and I rented the house for us, our kids and grandkids for a week and it was pretty wonderful. The fridge stopped cooling one evening and she had another fridge brought in within a few hours for us so we didn’t lose our food. The house is well stocked with sheets, towels, kitchen utensils, pots and pans etc. Between the 3 season type room and the living room we had plenty of seating and the couch and chairs are super comfy! Our bed was a little hard for me but my hubby loved it. If you have a chance to do the week of July 4th the fireworks on the lake are a must! The perfect spot to sit to watch them is just off of W Cellers rd on Lake Diane Rd. You will basically be in a front row spot there. We live near Grand Rapids MI and the Lake Diane fireworks rival our big city fireworks for sure! You cannot swim in front of the house and the shared beach area wasn’t great so if you’re wanting a lake for swimming it isn’t the best. The pontoon wasn’t available for rent as it was being worked on. The fishing in front of the house was enough to keep people occupied and having a large backyard, firepit, covered dock to fish and a large deck attached to the house was nice. I will say that when we drove up to the house we were a bit skeptical as the house wasn’t very impressive but we were pleasantly surprised when we went inside as it was clean and nicely decorated! "

Lake Diane is just over 400 acres, spring fed and up to 90ft in depth. It is an all sports lake from 11am - 7pm and it is No Wake from 7pm to 11am allowing for quiet fishing, kayak rides, swimming, enjoying the sunrise or sunsets views or other peaceful enjoyment of the lake. Our shallow shoreline and sandy beach expands our entire property and is inviting to play, swim, or just go fishing right off the dock. The Expansive Deck and Patio are the perfect spots to unwind or keep an eye on the kids while they play in the water on the sandy beach, slide down into the lake from the dock slide or goof around on the floating raft. Let the kids enjoy the huge playground at the park just across the street while you enjoy the lakeshore on that side of the road also. So much to do so little time!

The Escape At Lake Diane is a gorgeous 4600 sq ft house that is frequently renovated and excellently maintained by the owners which makes it the perfect place for a multi-family gathering or getaway. Sleeping Arrangements Are Very Comfortable for a Party of 14 or less. There are 7 Queen Size beds within the 4 large bedrooms and a twin pull out sofa in the lower level to choose from and spread out. The 3 large full baths allow for plenty of room for everyone to get ready! Everyone can dine together in the open concept living area on two large tables and additional seating at the breakfast far. There is even more seating available on the deck and patio for outdoor dining. The lower level kitchen also offers seating at the breakfast bar. All bed linens are provided (no beach towels). Washer and dryer also available for your use. Our home is set up to be enjoyed by families but events or parties where other guests would be invited is NOT allowed so if these are your plans please book another property.

Enjoy the panoramic views and sunsets from the 2 story wall of windows in the great room and just about from any room in the house or while lounging on the comfortable deck sofas and loungers. Step out to the deck from the French doors in the great room, dining room or directly from the master bedroom. You can also step out to the patio and yard from the lower level rec room or from the bedroom exterior doors. The house has lake access on our property and across the street at the park which is very unique. You can get amazing views of the sunrise and the sunsets from our property; you have the best of both worlds here so don't forget your camera! The deck and patio are fitted with electric outlets, fans and lighting for your comfort. There are so many places to relax and bask in the surrounding and tranquil beauty of The Escape At Lake Diane.

There is also a large firepit so you can sit around the bonfire in the evenings and tell stories and make memories when the festivities of the day are done. Firewood available for your use.

The large fully equipped upper and lower kitchens offer 2 full size fridges, cooktops, microwaves, dishwasher with plenty of cabinets filled with all types of dishes, cooking/baking utensils and small appliances. Guests will tend to move items from one kitchen to the other but both are fully equipped. You can cook in luxury while staying in the middle of the action with the open concept set up of both kitchens. And only 5 mins away is the lakeside marina/ bar & grill and convenience store. And just 25 min drive to Hillsdale or Angola you can find large chain stores such as Wal-Mart. So don’t worry if you forgot something at home, all is available in a short distance.

This home is totally 'non smoking.' If smoking occurs indoors, additional fees will be assessed. No pets are allowed on our property. The home has exterior cameras for our guest's safety. These are very visible and not hidden in any way.

We booked this house at the last minute after the owner of our original VRBO rental cancelled on us 4 days before our arrival, and we were grateful to get it. We were surprised at the extensive list of rules and clean-up requirements, far more than we’ve ever encountered in years of VRBO rentals, each accompanied with the threat of being asked to leave mid-stay and our deposit retained. We did our best to comply and spent hours cleaning the night before departure. It was very stressful for us as hosts of a family reunion, and for that reason I can’t recommend this rental. In the end, the owner claimed that we damaged a screen, a door threshold and a window covering, and filed an insurance claim. She also claimed very adamantly that we took a pillowcase, but she later found it. We will definitely be back to southern Michigan, but will look for a more relaxed and family-friendly rental."

I am an off site manager, but I live close by. If you need something we will take care of it right away! Bryan is the closest town for groceries Chief Supermarket and Walmart are great places to shop. (about 5 min drive) Lots of restaurants, stores and coffee shops to visit. Spangler candy company, home of the Dum Dum sucker has a great store/museum, it is worth a visit. Lots of parks and walking trails in the area.
