- "We had such a wonderful stay at the Kalyana Villas, the property is furnished to a very high standard with beautiful amenities and anything you might need from an outdoor shower in the Batu Villa to a fully stocked kitchen and a private pool. The only drawback is the location, where it's not in the most picturesque surroundings, you need to walk through a lot of dusty ground to get there and the mosque prayers are also quite loud, waking you up at 5am every morning. Only knock was property played a ridiculous game of “check in isn’t until 2pm therefore your room won’t be ready until 2pm” despite it sitting vacant. That left a bad taste in my mouth as some petty staffer didn’t understand that people don’t deliberately arrive early to properties to score a free hour or two! That can be corrected with training and context. Once I had settled in, the sour taste quickly dissipated. I’ve booked a stay there for the next trip."

- "The resorts is brand new (only opened 8 weeks ago) and it is absolutely stunning. The restaurant and pool area is so peaceful and wherever you go in the resort you can hear the sound of the waves on the beach. There are only 10 rooms at the resort so it is never busy. The staff are always cheerful, attentive and helpful and the hospitality was incredible. The bar tender mixed us bespoke cocktails when we asked and was very knowledgeable. The rooms are stunning, with balconies overlooking the ocean. The view from the bath and the bathroom in particular are beautiful, but the open air toilet takes some getting used to! The breakfast menu is varied and delicious - the best we have had in Bali! As the resort is new, there are a couple of teething problems -the restaurant ran out of many food options (almost all desserts) while we were there. With regards to the menu, we would have preferred more local cuisine options rather than a westernised menu - that being said, all the food was delicious! Finally, the location is far from the ports and tourist traps. This may be inconvenient if you wish to travel arond the island a lot (about an hours drive to the port), HOWEVER the location makes it incredible tranquil, secluded and private. We absolutely loved our stay at Semaya and will definitely return next time we are in Indonesia."

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Dewi and team (there's another girl whom I didn't recall the name), who went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed.
