Surrounded by tall pines and mountains, with the tranquil sound of the West River outside, here you can escape into nature while still enjoying all the cozy comforts of home. Our newly renovated home has been transformed into a getaway spot for romance, friends or family. The deck, set on the waterfront, is a beautiful, serene space to dine or take a soak in our wood burning hot tub. Put on some records, make a meal and cuddle up in front of the fire after a long day of playing outdoors.
The space
Our open, art filled living space has been completely renovated with our guests needs in mind. The deck overlooks the West River and is our favorite spot to dine outdoors, do yoga, have drinks by the gas fire pit or take a soak in our wood burning hot tub overlooking the river (see notes below). We’ve included all the necessities- internet tv in the living room and bedrooms, stereo and Bluetooth speakers, fully stocked kitchen supplies and all cotton and linen bedding. There’s games and albums in the media cabinet and we’ve left a guide book with instructions for everything and suggestions on all the great places to go nearby.
Our home sleeps 4 comfortably with 2 bedrooms, one queen and the other bedroom has bunk beds with trundle pull out. Younger children must be supervised on deck and grounds around house at all times, as the house sits up high with the river below.

All season mountain lodge with spectacular river views and close to Stratton. The house has five master suites all with their own baths, plus a magnificent great room, game room, den, loft, large kitchen with island, and dining room that seats 12. The lodge was built in 2012 by the Wadsworth Company, and designed with noted Montana builder Highline Partners, to inspire guests with one of a kind mountain and river views, relaxation, outdoor activity, and intimate time with family and friends.

There are multiple areas for gathering and entertaining: the great room with grand lodge fireplace and coffee table over looking the West River, the den with fireplace, HDTV and XBox, the loft with reading area and 6 person card table, the game room with fireplace, pool table, shuffleboard, and bar, the kitchen with large island and wet bar, and the porch with comfortable couch and chairs overlooking the river. The house also includes two foldable single beds and one queen blow up mattress. The single beds are perfect to add to the Mountain Room to make it a 5 person bunk room, or to add a bed to any of the other bedrooms. Put the queen mattress in the den to make it a sixth bedroom, with its own bathroom on the first floor.

The house is an all season retreat with Stratton’s award winning skiing and golf course 7 miles away. Mt. Snow is 15 miles away and Bromley Mountain is 17 miles. The island has miles of trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter, and hiking and mountain biking during the fall and summer. You are steps from fishing for salmon and trout, and swimming during the summer. Enjoy the barbeque and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Jamaica State Park is 1 mile away with extensive hiking, biking, snowshoe, and cross country skiing trails.

The house is located on a 100 acre private island on the West River, which only has two other homes, and is accessed by a scenic covered bridge.

When you are at Dreamcatcher Lodge you are transported to a rustic mountain retreat that embodies the grand mountain homes of Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming, yet is only 3.5 hours from New York, and 2.5 hours from Boston.

Each room has been uniquely designed with a theme that has been achieved by a western architect and interior designer. The great room is framed with massive windows overlooking the river and a grand lodge fireplace, family sitting area, and chess table. The construction of the house embraces reclaimed material, using beams from old barns, antique white oak flooring, Douglas fir siding from old factories, and railings that came out of a 1800’s Victorian hotel.

The house is 1 mile from the town of Jamaica. Jamaica is a charming Vermont town with two excellent restaurants (Astas and Three Mountain Inn), three bed and breakfasts (Jamaica House, Astas, and Three Mountain Inn), craft and antique shops, coffee shop (Jamaica Coffee House), and market (D&K Market) with fresh baked goods and everything you need.

Children are welcome. Keep in mind that the lodge is appointed with fine furniture and art, so supervision is suggested. Also keep in mind that the lodge is located on a river, so children should not play by the river unsupervised.

-Spring and fall are ladybug season in VT and it is very common for ladybugs to gather near windows. They are NOT harmful but we like to give our renters a heads up regardless.

-As expected the river water levels will fluctuate depending on rainfall, etc. There are times when it's shallower and times when it's deeper.

- "This is an excellent choice for extended families who want together time as well as privacy and outdoor space for kids and space where adults can gather and play cards in the evening without waking up kids sleeping upstairs. House—a former boarding house—is generous in size and well furnished, and property is distinctive in that it's got a good sized fenced in yard great for young children and about half an acre of the property around the house is mowed, which makes for good play areas for grown-ups as well as kids. There's a river behind the house, and a great natural pool to splash in about 50 yards up river. Importantly, Alex and Rebecca were attentive hosts. We got to the property just a few days after the terrible mid-July floods that tore up the local roads, and on our first day in the house received a flyer from the Town of Jamaica warning us about another storm on the horizon and saying further damage to the roads could leave us isolated for a while. I called Alex, and he arranged for us to move out that night to a house in the nearby Stratton ski resort, and we stayed there two nights and then were able to return to the first house without worry. Excellent handyman associated with the house, so when something went wrong—a dishwasher that wouldn't drain all the way—Eddie was over in a couple of hours and fixed the problem. And if you're in the habit of getting up early, and are capable of walking quietly, you'll find deer by the river until they see you."

- "The location was great; our family was looking for a spot to 'get away from it all'. We unfortunately stayed at a time when the region was experiencing record flooding. It was a little cramped downstairs in the kitchenette with the 4 of us (2 adults/2 kids) and having to use the bathroom sink for bathroom routines and washing dishes. Kelly and Elton were absolutely wonderful- very helpful and friendly." - "First, the hosts were brilliant. Great communication, great instructions for access, very helpful. Second, the property is in a great location, less than a 10 minute drive from the base of Stratton. Third, the property worked really well for our family (3 teenagers on the pullouts, 2 adults in the "nook" bedroom). Although the downstairs dining area was small (3 chairs around a table, and not really space for more) it worked just fine for us. We were only having breakfasts there and the fridge, microwave, convection oven, and induction burners did everything we needed for eggs, pastries, coffee (bring your own K-cups!), tea, toast. Upstairs was *more* spacious that I was expecting. The mini-split AC/heater units kept us cozy and warm. I'm sure in the summer they'd be more than adequate on hot days. And the price was excellent, so I'd definitely stay there again."

Built on the edge of the mountain with stunning views of the valley and Stratton mountain. Deer, bear, turkey and coyote walk across the driveway and drink at the pond. * Open floor plan with custom built furniture and a 60" deck overlooking the mountains and valley. In the winter the skiing is very close and you can skate right outside the house. In the summer walk to the local swimming hole at the bottom of the hill if you don't want to swim in the pond. In fall just watch the leaves change. Deck has a wonderful outside shower.

* Kitchen - excellent kitchen with 36" range and very well equipped with quality pots, pans and utensils. Sonos in the kitchen and the master so you can listen to your music as you relax.

* Upstairs has large combined living room/kitchen with 1/2 bath in the hallway, coat room, laundry room and master suite down the hall.

- "We rented the house for a ski trip with coworkers but we got snowed in on Saturday 3/4. Called the caretaker at 7am to request a plow but they didn’t get to us until 2:30pm. We were able to make the most of it by using the hot tub, pool table, snowshoes and indoor fireplace (though the firefighter we were with was hesitant to start a fire in there because he said the chimney desperately needed a cleaning and was a potential fire hazard). Nice big house with plenty of room to accommodate 16 people, tons of games and books scattered throughout the house. The place is a maze with eclectic decorations and interesting knick knacks throughout. Despite some minor setbacks (lights kept tripping breakers and Wi-Fi was down for a day) we would definitely recommend and would rent again."

Made day trips out to neighboring towns of Chester, Grafton, Woodstock, Brattleboro and more. A great surprise was Pike falls just a nice mile walk from the front door, well worth the hike. Even at the end of October we were able to enjoy some remarkable foliage. This home fit all the needs to get most of our journey thru Vermont."

This open concept tiny house was built 100% by my husband, Elton. He lived in it for 5 years with his, now, 13 year old yellow lab, Macy. They had amazing adventures across North Dakota and Montana and recently the tiny home made the journey back to his home town in Vermont. The two nearby state parks, Townshend and Jamaica, have numerous overlook trails and the West River offers kayaking, rafting and tubing. Gourmet dining and designer outlets are a close drive to Manchester, Vermont. Spend a day skiing on the slopes at one of the nearby ski resorts: Stratton, Bromley, Mount Snow, Magic Mountain, or Okemo. Hike or bicycle to one of the popular swimming holes; both Hamilton and Pikes Falls are very close.

Please note that The Green Mountain Tiny House shares part of its driveway with another one of our rentals, The Green Mountain Modern House (which resides on a separate, neighboring property). Each house has its own private outdoor amenities, including parking.

The peaceful property also is home to wildflowers, chickens, and beautiful territorial views of the surrounding area. While the house does have its own dedicated outdoor area and amenities, this home is among several other tiny homes on the property. So if you are looking for a secluded getaway without anyone around, another one of our properties may be a better fit for you.

Upon entering this secluded gem, you will find a cozy interior adorned with wooden warmth, which perfectly complements the rustic charm of the Green Mountains.
