We are back in business. Hurricane Irma paid us an unwelcomed visit September 5,2017 and caused minor damage to the property. We took this time to to give our home a redo. The house has been painted in and out, furniture has been replaced and a beautiful deck has been added along with a private tiki hut. Also a convenient kayak rack was added. This beautiful, duplex home is located on one of the only private beaches in the Florida Keys. The home is located on the southern tip of Long Key, and has a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean. Each side of the home is a two-bedroom, one bath. Both sides are available for rent. Other side can be found at VRBO #620321. It is ideal for two families, and a paradise for adults and children.

The Long Key State Park is a short walk up the beach, where camping, birdwatching, snorkeling, hiking, canoeing, and many other activities are offered. The water in front of the home is shallow, with a channel which enables a boat up to 30 feet in length to reach the dock. The shallow water is great for snorkeling, lounging, and is a paradise for children. Boat rentals are available nearby.

The waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay provide some of the best diving and fishing in the world. World-Class fishing guides and dive boats are also available. Many of the local fishing guides will pick you up right in front of the house. The Long Key Viaduct, just a few hundred feet from the house, has proven to be one of the world's best places to catch a Tarpon.

Both sides of the home are fully-equipped with linens, kitchen supplies, patio and beach furniture, a barbecue grill, and a tiki hut provides an escape from the warm Florida sunshine. Come to enjoy some of the many attractions that the area has to offer, or just lay in a hammock under a palm tree. There is something for everyone at this beachfront paradise!

The home is located on the site of Henry Flagler’s Long Key Fishing Camp and it’s where author, Zane Grey vacationed and wrote some of his works in the early 1900s. Long Key Fishing Camp was established on Long Key in Florida in 1908 by Henry M. Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway Company for the use of tourists to enjoy what was described as 'some of the best fishing in the world.' It initially served a housing for some of the employees who were building the Overseas Railroad to Key West.

Long Key Fishing Camp featured a two-story hotel and a number of cottages. The camp was made famous by author Zane Grey, who was a regular resident, and a pioneer of the sport of sail fishing. Grey became the first president of the Long Key Fishing Club in 1917. The list of other early distinguished guests included Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, Andrew Mellon, Charles Kettering, and other notables.

The fishing camp was destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, as was the Overseas Railroad. After the latter was destroyed, the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1), was built across Long Key in replacement

- "This was our second time staying at the Henry Flagler and it was a great time. The back deck on the water is perfect. We rented a boat from Pier 68 and kept it at the dock. Marathon is the best bet for restaurants near by. - "Wow! What a beautiful place! The views from the livingroom and balconies are wonderful! The condo was very clean. The pool was great, and all of the people were very friendly. The beach is a rare find in the keys. We enjoyed fishing from the pier as well as the view from the benches there. One of the bridges is very close. It was fun to see all the types of fish from above. Barbara was very helpful and always responded quickly when we had questions. This place is like living in a postcard!"

- "This property is beautifully decorated and exactly as represented in the photos. The owners are easy to work with and super responsive. The home was spotlessly clean and easy to care for. The resort has a huge pool, library, marina, store, gatehouse, and tons of winter classes. The neighbors are lovely and welcoming too. Ocean and pool views right from your living room balcony.This open concept condo has a private balcony, while the master bedroom overlooks the pool and the Atlantic Ocean, the guest room overlooks the ocean and Long key bridge. You can either have a quiet, relaxing time by the pool or beach, or stay active by using all the amenities this resort has to offer. With a large heated swimming pool and tennis courts only, a walk or elevator ride away. Or even fishing, diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking all at your finger tips right in your back yard! Besides all the amenities this resort has to offer, there is plenty to do if you want to get off the island and take a cruise, with Key West just over an hour away. There’s plenty to do between here and there, so makes for a great centralized location of the keys. The famous Islamorada attractions, and the top-notch charter boats, or ideal snorkeling trips. There is also plenty of historic sites nearby. This secret spot of the keys used to attract certain Presidents, and famous authors such as Ernest Hemingway, and Zane Grey, who used to visit Long Key Fishing Camp. Duck key is the next key south, which is a very short drive to marathon, which has endless dining experiences. The Long keys have always been known as very private. With only 32 units at this wonderful Caribbean style resort, located right on a white sandy beach. With cabanas on the beach for an evening cocktail or evening swim.• There is a marina in Layton for short term boat launching and dock space. Miami Dade Airport or Key West Airport are almost equal in distance.

- "Great property and responsive host! Would recommend" - "Arrival instructions to locate the key to the property need to be updated. They were not where we were told and the unit was not numbered. Upon entry we noticed the place was dirty and had not been cleaned, bed wasn’t made and the ceiling in the guest room was flaking off onto the twin beds in guest room. There was little to no cleaning supplies and absolutely no toilet paper or paper towels to be had. Contacted host the next day and she was very apologetic and offered to send the cleaning crew in and refunded our first nights stay. I also stated I could not have my guest stay in the guest room without the ceiling being fixed. They sent their handyman over to take a look and we never heard from him or host again. I had to cancel on my guests. This place needs some overall attention, also the ice maker is broken and the kitchen faucet needs to be replaced. The lower balcony( off master bedroom) furniture is unusable/ broken. With a little updating and TLC this could be the perfect getaway. Also be aware the listing mentions an elevator, there is NO elevator in this building so if you have trouble with stairs it might be an issue. There is 17 steps to get to the door and then another 15 upon entering to get to kitchen. On the good side, the condo community was very friendly, the grounds, beach and pool were beautiful. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The condo is close to restaurants and grocery stores and activities."

Enjoy both sunrise and sunsets from both balconies with unobstructed views. If you're looking for ocean views, that is the only thing you see from our unit. All new Bosch appliances in the kitchen. Laundry with new full size washer and dryer. All new carpet in both bedrooms. All new flooring thruout the unit. Brand new furniture in living room, and master bedroom. Unit is directly on the natural sandy beach with tiki huts and lounge chairs. Heated pool is centrally located on our very small resort like complex with less than 40 units so you will always find space at the pool or the adjoining larger deck. Large outdoor cooking area with, gas grilles, prep tables, refrigerator, sink and plenty of tables for everyone. Take a walk out on the dock to view the wildlife, including manatee, sea turtles, dolphins, lobster and to many types of fish to list. Tarpon and snapper are regularly caught from the dock which has a fish cleaning station with power and water. If you have a boat, you are welcome to bring it. Trailers must be stored in the garage or a storage area on the island. Boats/trailers must be stored in the garage only. There is a marina on the island that has limited storage. You will love the direct ocean front from our unit, the pool and outdoor cooking area.
